Excellent, Barry! Thank you. For me, the Janji are superb for cooler weather now that they were just redesigned to move the drawstring to the outside of the tight. Otherwise they sometimes rub the area below the navel which, as an ultra runner, has caused me some serious aggravation! Sugoi tights are my go-to for cold weather here in Colorado as they are lined and stop the wind. For casual, I have four pair of the Tracksmith Bislette pants and they are a retro-style must!
@@rajkumarraosinhji1397 Trail Tight. I also have the Atlas pants but only use them for lounging around. I only run in tights and short tights. Never pants. Never shorts. Happy trails!
Fantastic video. Will check out the Path trouser. Recently saw Patagonia trouser which is good for winter running. I think you maybe like TrackSmith’s Reggie or Allston shorts. Check them out at the Trackhouse in New York City. They may have special NYC Marathon gear too. Thanks!!!
Thanks Rajkumar. I might visit the Tracksmith Store in Brooklyn, but will definitely buy a top from them. I have one from the Berlin and Chicago marathons and ordered one for Boston!

Very happy you got some Path projects kit in to review . Floris Gierman got me into this stuff (I partake in the PB Program) and it is great for training. Path's unlined shorts are also very good when it comes to lightness and durability, if you don’t mind subdued colour pallets, It is great kit .. The Pyrenees Hooded shirt is my favourite winter top.
I have the Sykes and Graves shorts and am in them more than any others. No signs of any wear or tear and have them about three years. You know me too well! Steered clear of the tops because of the muted colours...
Nice work Barry, with Soar i agree with everything you say with the zips and crimple look but i think the intent was use for more of a warm up which I use mine for & everyday use. Might be shooting myself in the foot here but..... i know you cant research cheaper options for the viewers but you can get them cheaper: I've two pairs not from the Soar website. the 1st at $136 and the second when they dropped the price down even further to $107. i didn't need them but at that price. keep up the great work Ted
Cheers Ted. I did see the odd Soar garment popping up here and there, and was looking for one of those vests they released that looked like they were made of crumpled tin foil, from a few years ago, but could not find one, was going to try and wear one in New York...time for Plan B...
Thanks for this review, Barry! It certainly fills a niche in the review space. I really appreciated your insights. And.... I love the Path Projects pants!
Hi, thanks for the comparison. I keep expanding my Janji clothing collection thanks to discounts on older models and now they are sold on REI Coop stores in USA and REI also does sales from time to time. Among the pants, I now have 2 pairs of Transit pants and 2 pairs of Mercury Run Joggers. In Texas, I finally started using Transit pants at a late-night run this week. Mercury Run Joggers are a bit more colder weather pants, but they are extremely confortable that I can wear them all day. Such nice soft fabric! If you have not tried Mercury Joggers yet, give it a try. One thing about Janji is that they have 5 years of guarantee on their garments. If something goes wrong, they will repair or replace them. In comparison, from Path Projects I have mainly running hats and 2 singlets even though they are known for 2-piece bottoms (liner + shorts/pants). Yeah, they are very color limited. I will look into their running pants. While we are talking about pants, I want to tell you about my latest half tights that might interest you. I like Janji half tights, but lack of zipped pocket had been bothering me as I want to carry ID, some cash and credit card without fear of losing them while pulling out something. I bought Bandit Running "Superbeam Next Gen 7 pocket half tights". They are the most expensive half tights I have bought so far but at least I had a code for discount from a Strava challenge. They are quite nice. They have two side deep pockets that can accommodate iPhone 12 with case or a soft flask bottle. A back zipped pocket and two small "gel" drop in pockets on either side of the belt (4 total gel pockets). I used mine on a 20-mile run and they were comfortable. I will probably wear them to my next marathon. Oh, on the website there are several colors of these but not all were available for my size. I got the black ones. Check them out. They are in NY. Maybe when you are here for NYC marathon you can get a pair.
You read my mind Tolunay! Planning to track down some Bandit products when in New York...the duty and taxes and shipping adds up to crazy money if I buy from the US for companies that don't have a European distributor...still cheaper than the Soar trousers though...
GORGEOUS running footage there Barry!! Nicely done with the black shoes and top to not compete with the pants ... all lovely with the sky and sand!! Was it cold changing pants out there in the open? I've never thought to wear running pants, actually I didn't even know they exist!😂 They seem like a great idea for travelling though, if kinda exie for most of these, as I assume they dry really quickly!! I do love it when the top-pick is not the most expensive, so great value for money for the Janji it seems!! I wonder Barry, if you put together a winter outfit of your favourite gear, (jacket, top, pants, socks, gloves, hat, sunnies and/or head/chest torch and shoes) what that would all add up to?
I will try to make a video of all the stuff. I had planned to outfit myself in Decathlon and compare and contrast....must expedite that. Last week I wore the Path pants walking to work, then on the tram, in meetings at work, the bus to the Doctor (handy if need to be slipped off) and then ran home in them. Superb. It wasn't too cold on the beach, but it was windy, And the changing is funny as there are people walking around, but I figured, it's a beach ...I had to do the shoot twice as the first time the light wasn't right and you couldn't see any detail in the trousers, but a check of the sun path, the tides and my work schedule sorted that...
Yet again we're heading in different directions weather wise ... northern vs southern hemisphere ... Kudos on shooting twice to make sure the footage looks as you intended it Barry.
hey, great channel. Fresh off the press some feedback to Soar: Ordered my first two Soar items this summer. One of them disintegrated after 4 or 5 runs. Which is when I read that a niche player like them gives you a 28 day return window. After that you are at the mercy of them if they exchange it or not. Which they offered, to be fair. The process towards the EU, though, is not mega easy, but actually ok. But my answer to basically depend on their assessment of the situation means: Back to basic brands with ok service and at least a standard warranty window. I never understand small brands who provide less service than the big brands. The items were ok but not worth the high price. Sorry to have to say good bye to Soar.
Markus, can I ask what the items were? Would be good to know. I have got good life out of my Soar running gear generally, but I take a lot of care washing them. Somewhat unusually I am a great fan if their tops, not so much the other products.
@@OldManRunner Sure, it was a hot weather zip shirt. The glue was falling apart. That is one issue. The responses on 28 days "return" while the item was simply defect was what was more appealing to me, given the price of the items. I do get that things can happen. It reminded me of your commentary of their zips on pants. Unnecessary at the price point. I love small niche brands and would like to support them. Thanks for your nice reply!
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I have the Soar pants, agreed way too expensive for what they are. I also have the On water proof pants (and the jacket) and they are fine for sprinkles, but worthless for real rain. Never heard of Path Project, so checking them out now.
