Fantastic video. Praying you find your perfect shorts. I found mine just recently (well, it is better than others I have tried) - Bandit Running’s superbeam next-generation half-tights. It has 7-pockets ($118, medium). Thinking of Soar marathon shorts since it has many external pockets for gels/IDs similar to Soar trail shorts. Cheers!!!
As usual, cracking reviews Barry. I've gotten used to running with my Naked band and pockets are not as much of an issue in shorts selection. But like you I do have a seemingly endless search for the perfect something... a running event photo that captures my effortless and graceful running... three years and counting... for some reason it never materialises = my perfect heel flick, hip extension and knee lift in all photos look a lot like I'm walking : - )
Glad you enjoyed it Bartek....for me it was one of the worst videos I have made...I would love a do over...I had forgotten how hard it is to film shorts...and did it better last time, but it's UA-cam, we roll on. Have started making my video preview of the New York Marathon...and it's going well!...and planning next weeks video...I find that the GoPro with the right frame rate can make you look like you are flying along!
@@OldManRunner I'm writing to Santa asking for a GoPro as we speak... and I thought the shorts came out well!... from memory Kofuzi and Seth James DeMoor both did interesting NYC mara vlogs, can't wait to see what you come up with preview wise Barry!

@@bartekzielinski1645 I’ve been a few times before..so have seen a few parts. I want to see the Ford Foundation. Kevin Roche went to my high school and I was lucky enough to have lunch with him in Dublin…
CEP did a great compression short with a phone storage pocket on the thigh, it is very handy, they changed to a zip pocket that was too small for the new size phones. Agree with the soar shorts, so comfy but the phone storage is another issue
Shorts - such an under considered but vital kit item. In terms of comfort x carrying capacity I’ve found the Ronhill Ultra Short win on the carrying front - they have almost too many pockets, crucially the iPhone 12 max sits tight against the leg securely - survived a 190km ultra without bouncing out or getting damaged. Also the Decathlon Trail shorts have a built in band around the waist that has excellent capacity - 12 max sits perfectly in front very securely, used for 1000s kilometres without ever bouncing out. Awesome stuff man 🏴👍😸🦄
Well done on the 190km! I am tempted to try an ultra when I get Boston finished...I was out at Decathlon checking out the shorts, I think it was Nick from Run Testers who recommended the women's trail tights, but they are sold out...will check out Ron Hill in the meantime...
Great video Barry! Wow, those shorts are £££. Also, I don't like running in lined shorts, so I'll wait for your next video on unlined shorts (I saw the one you did a while back on lined and unlibed). My favourite running shorts are tennis shorts 😀 No liner, simple fit and 2 deep unzipped side pockets, and I then run with a running belt or hydration vest to carry my stuff.
Cheers Chris! I like lined for racing and unlined more generally… I must get some more…wonder if Imelda Marcos also like shorts…Seriously pricey but if it means I don’t need a vest or separate belt or arm sleeve I’m happy. Had a great run in the Soar shorts this evening… and of course I ordered a completely different pair for New York!
Great review, have you tried the compressport trail 2 in 1? Very light, great fit, and a band around the waist. Also for colder months, inov8 trailfly ultras? Stance have new lined shorts out also, interested to see how they hold up.
Expensive .. pff obviosly you have not had a pair of Satisfy 2.5's distance shorts (no don't; wont hold your monster phone.. but everything else including loops ) . As alwats a great review.
Ha1 I ran the Chicago Marathon in those...the monster phone slides vertically inside in the back...it bounced up and down and gave me slight chafing....the waistband is also a bit odd..other than that very nice shorts, well apart from the mad money...
@@OldManRunner it’s what I am using for New York , I run with a little burner phone ( not an influencer such as yourself , no photos or film needed, so I can make emergency calls if I have too. Six precision fuel gels , some salt tablets and a little Nokia style phone and I am good to go, soar vest and a new pair of saucony pro 3’s as the old ones are too worn down now and it’s the safest bet of a racing shoe for me.
