Hey Leon. On the tank spacer, drop a 6" piece of mechanics wire into the open tank screw hole, then put the spacer over it. Guide the tank top over it, and then put the screws in. Pull the wire, and then the long screw. Viola!
I have one of the first edition of the 10-10 with the manual oiler. It is the only chainsaw that I own that has the pullstarter on the clutch side of the saw! The paint inside the air box is like brand new! The intake manifold has a very small hole that needs opened up a little bigger and it will run alot better than stock. And I noticed that on the mini macs that if you look behind the carburetor there is always a big lip where the manifold doesn't match the intake port worth a damn!
I just rebuilt my old pro mac 700, there is nothing easy about that process, right down to the pressed in piston pin bearings, gotta love the infamous Mcculloch paint everything so you don't know whether your cross threaded, also I had alot of fun "fishing" trying to find the starter bolt holds, them two screws in the back of the tank after much choice words and more were actually siliconed in they kicked my ass to the last thread, I suspect my 10-10s at some point is due for the pro-line seal-all treatment, I did on the 700 as a side note Leon I sanded my tank out and did not have any red-kote will that harm anything? I have some ordered up but it seems to be running good.
Leon, as usual I be late to the party. Gas tank spacer? With a file or grinder give your roach clips a purchase. Doesn't have to be much cuz anything is better than a flat surface trying to grab a round cylinder. And you know the next person to work on the saw will thank you, and probably be you.. K
Love the old Homelite and McCulloch saws but after much watching I don’t think I want to work on them. This gas tank design is even worse than the gas tank wrapped around the crankcase design on the Homelite saws.

I'll leave those to you. In this area most of what I've worked on were the Mini-Macs & the 600 series & those were many years ago.
Where can I get dome air filters for 1010 McCulloch 10:52
A great example of why I like working and own homelites. Those saws weren't designed that great
needle nose vice grips will hold that tank spacer
I just bought a power mac 6 that has a horrible leak. Do they make a tank gasket for it? You sound like me working on saws.
