My first saw was a McCulloch, an old one that my Grandpa had, with a hand pump oiler. Cut many balsam, maple, and cedar with that saw; put on an Oregon chipper chain and a sprocket nose bar. Great saw, lasted for years, until someone stole out of the garage.
You're a brave man, Buckin Billy, goin off into the Pit of Ferns single handed like that. Many a brave man has entered the Pit of Ferns, never to be heard from again.
I found u on utube .looking for how to sharpen a chain ! I continued to watch for ur mcculloch saws , I understand on why u use ur huskys ,theyre bad ass ! I thank u for using a mcculloch saw for another video , im a big fan of mcculloch be safe and continue to help make the world a better place!
Glad the tree next to the outdoor porch traveled to the right of the tree & didn't go left of it, creating a OOPS moment... Myself personally & not being a professional, I would have roaped that tree & appled light pressure to it away from the house. When working alone, I would use my tractor as a hookup point & pull the tree down. The 1st tree across the d/way, from my vantage point appeared the back cut came out below the hinge, hence the tearout above the hinge. First time I've observed this from you Buckin'... keep em' coming btw, I love this stuff! Bill on the Hill... :~)
Thanks buckin. I cut some small snags down that was dead. I used the bird mouth cuts that you showed worked great thanks for the tips. I like the tips and the fact you explain the use of the cut why you would cut them a certain way.👍keep up the good work.
Haha! I just watched the last video, and the notification came up... nice stuff, spending a nice Saturday afternoon outside with the PC watching a episode of the Buckin' and son adventures :) Have a great weekend everybody :)
Bell hopper sure does a good job on those saws! They’re so much fun to run and if you think about it...someday they’ll be even more rare the. Now. Love to you and the family❤️
I love your show have cut wood firewood and logs for years had 10 10 an Sp70 sp81 promac 800 700 about 2 years ago I lost a leg but hope to cut some more wood I have 460ms 346xp 357xp 2065 johnserd 510 dolman 540 dolman an 2 mac
Awesome vid Buckin, that Mac screams baby. And that hollow tree, scary footing there , be safe and take care you two... great duo at work the last couple of vids. HAGKD everyone,
I had a McCulloch timber bear I looooovvvveee that saw I miss her 😭😭😭 glad to see you are able too keep the classic saws running 😀😀😀😀oh the way I saw a pioneer two man saw it had a handle grip.on the nose she ran fine but the chain tensioner didn't want to do it,s job but she was beautiful machine 😁😁😁😁
My dad "worked in the woods" when he was laid off for a couple years, late 70s into the early 80s. I believe he used a pro-mac, probably a 10-10 based on what I can find for sale on Ebay. We used it to cut firewood for heating until the mid 90s, and then it was back up for a new 55 husky. He passed this summer, and I was trying to find that saw, can't find it, kind of sucks. I know he had trouble keeping it running, so it's probably at some ole small engine shop somewhere.
What the heck was that crazy burl tree at the end?! I see the maple leaves on it, but that’s not like any maple I’ve ever seen!!! Would have liked just a single tree video with commentary on that little beauty.
Love all your vids man, well done. Always learning something new and I have been cutting wood with power saw for 30 or more years. Can still remember when my sister got my father his first chainsaw, a mcculloch. Before that it was all buck saw and ax. Cheers
Wow... Yesterday I took down a tree that in my mind was pretty hollow and rotten. But compared to the tree in the end of this video it was actually pretty healthy 😲
Mmm Mmm Music To Me Ears ! she Eats It Up, Nicely ! Bell-Hopper Sure Made 'Er Sing Eh ? Great Day with Ya Fellas ! Every 1 Have A Swell Week Ahead & Love To All From Down East ! ATB T God Bless
If you read 'Brave new world' they had world peace. Sorry for being sceptic but I follow the news... Happy for you guys who can stay optimistic in todays world! Perhaps Im just depressed vacations over... lol. Take care!
Have to finish watching later I have a log pile to cut, and I think I just heard my pro 10-10A start it self. I better go give it a run. Love to all the army see you all soon Union MI.💪
wow there was some nice burlwood in that last tree I hope they let you take it home to sell, it;s probably worth more that you got for doing the rest of that job
Hi Buckin’ Great Job with the 10 10 S, I have just bought a Super 10 10. I believe that this is an earlier saw. Is there any difference in power between the two? Keep those great videos coming! Thanks!
Most fallers do it that way. It reduces waste on the keeper portion of the log. If he did it from the top then he would have to cut it again to have a straight butt end.
Hey Billy is bell hopper going to get into production of those wrap bars? I'm going to build 1 out of some spare bars but is tricky. His looks really nice
COOL VIDEO. That knurled and knotted tree surprised me that it was hollow. When you walk to the camera to speak, please stop the saw's engine or leave the saw behind. I could not understand a word you said and I can't read lips. Thanks.
Hi. Could you tell me what do you mean when you say modified? So a normal mcçulloch pro 10 10s dosen't doesn't run like that? I'm asking cuz I would love to buy one. Thanks a lot
The starter pawls (aka dogs) on the old McCullough saws are mounted on the flywheel. It's centrifugal force that holds them in. As the flywheel slow down, that force decreases and the pawls can grab the recoil mechanism. If you pull the cord out before shutting down the saw, your arm will absorb any shock from kickback. If you don't, that shock is transferred to the recoil mechanism and must be absorbed by the cord, the handle, the pawls, etc. Pulling the cord before shutdown protects all those components. There is a good bit of force at play so get a good grip on that handle. The procedure is found in old McCullough owner's manuals and is only relevant to flywheel mounted recoil pawls and may in fact damage other saws like the Homelites with their overrunning starter clutches/one-way bearings
Buckin', Tim (Cotontop3) was talking about anti-fog safety glasses in his latest video, and saying just how much of a workout handling a big power saw can be. Heck, I had no idea how heavy those things are, (more than 20lb) and holding them up in front of you for hours at a time must take it out of you. No wonder you can swing that axe one handed knocking in wedges. Check it out at 15:00 onwards if you get a few minutes to spare. I have to say it made me respect you guys all the more! ua-cam.com/video/Xq_e10-jqR8/v-deo.html
I'm trying to learn how to get a message to you tomorrow I'm going to buy a pro mac1010 for 50.00 bucks actually comes with 3 chain saws but I'm only intrested in the Mac for 50 I got a drive a little ways but i was wondering what you thought of that price he says it has good compression other then that he doesn't know much about it
Billy Ray and Hogan. I hope you two never stop having fun together.

I wonder if any of the wood turners in your area would want to pick through that giant rotten burly one. I know they do a lot with epoxy now.
