Hey canipa, I want to say that your work was one of the things that encouraged me to become an professional animator for Japan, I managed to work for trigger, saru, wit, mappa, A1 between others, so even if you're changing your goals, know your work till now has been important to many!

That's incredible!! Would you be comfortable sharing what name you're credited under? I may be out of the UA-cam game, but I still stick around for the credits to spot all the names I recognize.

What I love(d?) about your channel is when you started doing the anime/animator spotlight videos, you were one of the first anime content creators on the platform to not just essentially post a reaction video disguised as a 10 minute video essay, and actually research the topics you were discussing, presenting information that couldn't be gleaned from a casual viewing of the show. The PA interview to me personally being my favorite.
That being said; along with Tom Scott, I feel like you're also pioneering what a departure from content creation can look like without it being the result of some horrible event, and I'm all for it, thanks for the wonderful times.

You've genuinely changed my perspective on anime and arguably somewhat shifted the direction of broader anime discourse in general with how you've brought so much production information to the wider anime fandom through such easily accessible videos. Thanks for all the hard work and research ethos you've put into the past 10 years on this channel, and good luck with whatever you're pursuing next, Callum!

I was immediately fascinated watching your breakdown on OPM; all of the animator names being mentioned really put into perspective just how much talent and effort goes into the creation of anime.
Today this is my biggest passion, and my channel wouldn't exist if yours didn't. Thank you for all the years of amazing content!

That's a shame.. I only recently subscribed to your channel like maybe half a year ago after binging 26 of your anime spotlight videos and too soon after you're retiring. Out of many anime channels that does reviews, retrospectives and analysis only your channel was the one to actually passionately praise and talk about the individual animators, writers and musicians behind the works and what they all contributed to make the anime amazing. Truly a shame that it ended.

Thank you so much for bringing light to the behind the scenes of anime all these years. Your channel has been one of the main reasons why I'm very interested in learning the ins and outs of the anime industry, without you I don't think I'd ever even be as passionate as I am now. You blew my mind with the behind the scenes of Japanese media. I liked a lot of manga and anime that I didn’t think I would like growing up.
I was a fan of Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Sonic X and few on cable tv, but I was really mind blown with both classic and modern anime because of how much this community love anime and manga and knew a lot of things that I didn’t think I would really like like I do now. Thank you.

Well FYI, I already watched the Baccano/Durarara video on the day of its release, so what do I do now HUH?
But on a serious note, you were my entry into understanding more about anime production and the people behind some of my favorite shows. Your Baccano, AOT, OPM, Mob Psycho 100, and Compositing videos are my favorites. I went from knowing nothing about this industry to having favorite animators and directors all thanks to watching your videos in my early teens. I bet many of the new animation/staff breakdown channels and bloggers wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for your work.
Thank you Canipa Effect, and good luck on your new pursuits.

I'm sure everyone has that one scene or anime they can think of. Kinda like your first moment of consciousness, the scene turns you from thinking "Wow that was cool," to thinking "Wow, who made this??".
For me it was the Deku vs. Todoroki fight. For the record, I've seen plenty of anime before this, but something about it slapped the sakuga consciousness into me. After watching that episode I was genuinely jaw-dropped. The way animation complemented he build up of emotional stakes into the literal explosion at the end, it was inspiring. I was tearing up at the thought of it the day after it aired. If this is what good animation could do, I wanted to know more. It was at that point that I wanted to learn more. And at the peak of my interest, I learned of The Canipa Effect.
This channel has helped me cultivate a mindset that makes me think about each individual animator, to think of the staff instead of the studio, to think about how each production role interacts with other roles and how their dynamics contribute to a project, and to consider the context and circumstance of each production. It made me realize and care about things I wish more people in the anime community would.
I found this channel almost 7 years ago, maybe even further back. The anime scene has changed so much and I would have loved The Canipa Effect to be at the forefront of making videos about the production and key players in new anime. Maybe there are younger people who were like me, inspired and wanting to learn more.
But alas I respect the desicion. I want to give my thanks for the 10 years you put into this channel. I don't think it's a overstatement to say that this channel has contributed to changing the trajectory of my life.
I'm rambling but I just wanted to throw out what this channel meant to me. I was a younger teen when I found this channel, and now I'm nearing adulthood and I want to be pursuing something in the realm of arts. Animation would be wonderful, but anything art related at this point. At the very least, I want carve a clearer path for others who were like me, passionate but unguided.
Hell, maybe I'll start my own channel haha

I just have to thank you so much in particular for that Mob Psycho 100 video, while yeah there are plenty of MP100 videos out there, stumbling on you video specific made a huge impact on me I mean it. Through that video I ended up dedicating myself to the art I love, same for that Sun and Moon video, when that series came out I was ecstatic for it, but everyone was hellbent on tearing it apart but your video was the support I wanted and that Pokemon series ended up being one of my comfort shows. That's my stories about what this channel what you mean to me.

First of all, thank you for all the effort you have put into these videos.
I want to say why I love your videos, way more than other channels. I find your insight to be more genuine than other channels.
I'm an animator and used to dabble in reviewing anime myself, and what I genuinely disliked is how people came forward with an opinion but with dishonest intentions.
Either it's because they want to show off how much they know about animation or either it's for views / likes. Rarely do they start from the intention "I love this, this makes me excited, and I want to explain others WHY I felt that way, and how did the animation support that feeling? How did the staff make you sure felt the way you did, and how did the pipeline allow this emotion to come to fruition.
I liked how you looked at things from a broader perspective, not only focusing on the microscopic aspect of anime, as apparant in your video about MAPPA where you refused to just acknowledge their masterful animation, without mentioning how bleak and greedy the industry is.
So for now, I hope you can get plenty of time to yourself and still keep that genuine excitement to maaaaybe deliver a video for us in the future. Wish you all the best!

Man, I'm one of these silent fans that pop up occasionally every once in a while, but this is sad news ! Now, I know that whenever real life gets involved, passion always take a hit and a backseat. And a full decade on UA-cam, that's already a heck of an accomplishment ! So massive kudos to you !

With hopes that we'll see another insightful video from you in the far future, whenever you get the itch (once a creator, always a creator), but in the meantime, salute !

Fair enough nothing wrong with casual uploads. While there are other anime analysis videos, they never actually reached the depth your videos have reached with research and accuracy which I will miss.

Never commented before but thanks for the great videos! You covered aspects of anime not many talk about (in a relatively accessible way), and I admire the work you put into actually researching and trying to get your facts straight. Wish you the best!

Thanks Canipa effect. Your channel made me appreciate anime - and to some extent, the animation as a media - as a whole. Callum, I wish you the best!

Thanks for all the great videos, Canipa. You were the gateway for me to start researching the animators behind all of my favorite animation. You did such a great job of making information very accessible and easily understood, but also pointed me to find more information and made me realize that all this information isn't some cryptic puzzle hidden behind walls, but just a little bit of effort opens up whole worlds worth of knowledge. I hope the best for you and you get that mortgage taken care of!

Always enjoyed your videos since back in 2014. I haven't been watching recently, but I can now go back and catch up on that backlog. Also would be cool to see you on the Trash Taste podcast someday.
