I purchased the same when the "upgraded" version was released a year ago with the 23A controller. Now running a 35A controller with Air front and rear suspension, BMX handle bars and sealed bearing headset, also replaced hydraulic single pot Logan brakes with 4-pot. Chainwheel now at 58 teeth to remove ghost pedalling. Now gone from good to EPIC ! It's a good baseline to mod !
I got my Engwe Engine Pro on August 4 of last year. I have since installed the David Brand New turtle neck stem FX with Haro 4 piece Baseline 9 and 1/2 inch rise BMX bars. Also installed 11-32 freewheel, and a hydraulic coil rear shock. Plus a bunch of small stuff. Loving my Engwe Engine Pro!
Everything has been amazingly reliable on this bike. Unfortunately, Engwe discontinued the original Engine Pro so now I'm stockpiling spare parts. It has been a lot of work -- took me four emails with Engwe service to track down the last six motors. I also got 2 spare controllers, display, shock bushings, battery, etc. I also installed a rear rack battery so now I can ride with 29 ah of power Having said all that, not everyone has been as lucky as me. I have seen a few bad experiences on Facebook.

Got one for the wife she likes to still have a bike that she can peddle. She was one of those people that said no ebike for me, now she loves it. I put a dropper post on it, 10'' BMX bars, and a better seat now she rides it more than her 29er MTB.
Before making the decision to purchase an Engwe e-bike, I feel it's important to share my personal experience with the company and their product. I bought my Engwe e-bike in March 2023, and within a short span of time, I ran into technical issues with the bike. When I reached out to Engwe's customer service for assistance, the response time was far from satisfactory. Although I understand that troubleshooting can be a complex process, their response took a full 24 hours each time. Moreover, I was asked to conduct a series of tests on my own, which included using a multimeter to check the battery and the charger, and then recording a video of the process to send to them. After complying with their requirements, I had to wait another two days for their next response. The entire process has been quite frustrating and time-consuming, and it is still ongoing. Based on my experience, I have concerns about the efficiency of Engwe's customer support, as well as the reliability of their e-bikes. As a consumer, I believe we deserve products that function as promised and customer service that is prompt and effective. Unfortunately, in my experience, Engwe has fallen short in these aspects. While this is just my personal experience, and others may have had different ones, I feel it's essential to share it for the sake of potential customers. Actually, you raised an interesting thought. What about an electric chopper bike for all us oldies who remember the chopper era of the 1970s and want something electric. Obviously it would need a big, long seat with a warning label at the bank on a white band, proper gear lever on the frame, chrome disk that rotates with the rear wheel, big reflector at the back, reflectors on the pedals etc. Maybe I should be in marketing.....
I've got the E-Movement Panther 500w which is virtually identical to this and I love it. It has a 10Ah battery and I've had it for a couple of years now. Great for popping in and out of town when I don't want the palava of getting the motorbike out. No parking problems either :) Andy I am curious how much one of these 16Ah batteries would cost. Hi Andy love your videos please can you advise me on a couple of electric bikes,we want to buy something that’s quick from the off or something that wouldn’t take much to mod them for more speed. We’ve not had them before just normal peddle bikes but we have borrowed a couple to use for a few weeks. Thanks
Yeah, holding the back wheel off the ground and full throttle it's about 35mph so the lighter you are the better. Should do 30 as the other guy said. Fast enough really!😊
Hello, i’ve watched a lot of reviews on this bike, and looking to buy it? but whenever i go to the bike link, it says “250W” in the specs, what’s the matter of that.. isn’t it a 750W?
They make a 250w version for EU so the police won't impound/crush if caught (engine-x I think). Better off with a new Engine Pro 2.0, and just do the usual debadging using gaffer tape and fake Bafang 250w stickers from eBay, alongside the freewheel (11-32T), BMX bars and seat upgrades. :D
I have an older road legal (250w) version of this bike, the design is very practical but a little heavy to ride for long without assist. It has an issue where the motor starts losing traction and makes a grinding noise under stress, usually going uphill. I'm not sure how these motors work internally, but I think it may be caused by water ingress. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know. PS. I think you should do long term reviews of bikes to see how they hold up after a year or two of regular use.
Yeah it might be water ingress, normally hub motors are ok with the odd wet ride but I think over time dirt will probably get in and the grease will probably wear out, it could also be internal gears. I think some of these models use geared hub motors which can wear out, usually over a lot of miles. I currently have a few different bikes on long term test so will post some updates soon.
The issue will be with the julet cable if you have gone up hill on load the older hall cable get hot and the caseing melt the plastic and the metal cables get exposed to touch eachother wich gives you the grinding noise under load best bet change the julet cable or the problem could be the hall sensor inside the hub sometimes the glue gets hot then the hall sensors detach from the hub inside
As long as you keep it off the public highway, great🤪 Just remember, you can't go shopping unless the shop is accessable via private land. I don't want to use the 'I' word, but it is...
All this is about is the power. What about the safety of the battery. The fires caused by cheaply made batteries is far more important than how fast it goes. Plus you cant use it on UK roads anyway.
Engwe seem to be good. Most problems with batteries are user error using the wrong charger for the battery (plugging in higher voltage charger from another vehicle)
I bought the bike and am very disappointed. The cables are burnt through and there is no help and no suitable parts that are compatible with the installed electronics. In the end, the only option would be to replace the entire electronics, which would be quite expensive. But of course, as long as it works, it's fun...even if only briefly.
Yeah that's not good, higher power ebike controllers can suffer from this problem although it is quite rare. I'm surprised they couldn't just send you a controller of the same type... these controllers are usually pretty generic but you are right it is a pain because connectors might be different, screens might not be compatible, bit of a minefield.
Replace black screw cap on wheels and call it upgraded. Perhaps its not selling because there are no spokes. Everyone knows you break that cast the bike is dead. No fix for it. One time use trash bike. He is heavy invested in this bad design the warehouse is full of them and he has no way to unload them because he's been had. The respiration is intoxicating.
