My mum had one of those, she used it to get us kids to come home when it was dinner time etc. it was really noisy and could be heard from a mile away. It was my grandfathers who used it during WW2!
Thank you for showing each step and saying how long it took to get the paint off. I'm not as fast as you, but I don't have to feel so pathetic when I'm trying to restore objects.
this is a siren that was used by firefighters. Its from Poland 🇵🇱, The plate says the year it was manufactured in, the type, the series, the number, and the price. idk what KJ means though.
During the Loma Prieta earthquake these sirens started but they didn't stop . And that's one of the most scariest sounds I've ever heard in my life. San Diego is a Navy town so they were periodically tested. They are very loud!!!
Also, a siren works by the fins (vanes) sucking in air through the front and centrifugal forces fling the air outwards and away from the rotor and pass through the stator. Since the rotor and stator is slotted, it pulses the air. And thus creates an on and off popping sound. This can be sped up to create a tone. In this case, there are 12 holes, therefore making it 12 ports. The slot count on the stator doesn't really matter but it's most efficient if the stator slots are the same size as the rotor slots. The smaller the gap between the rotor and stator, the louder the sound will be. You can also create dual-toned sirens. It's just two rotors and stators or 1, (See ACA Screamer S-10) with different port counts. TLDR A siren pulses air via sucking through the front and blowing outwards and creates noise
Nice restoration, but I wish you hadn't kept saying how far back 1979 was and how old the siren is as I was born in 1976! 😱😭 Way to make me feel ancient!
Usually you can wash old grease and oil with either paint thinner or gasoline. At least non silicone grease that is. They are byproducts of oil refining, and carbon based lubricants can be dissolved in them. The only potential problem may be plastics that paint thinner and gasoline can attack.
if you crack that out loud on the streets your going straight to court. even tho we dont exactly use these any more. it still does what it is meant to do
call me weird, but personally i prefer when something looks weatherned and used then bran spanking new, these videos are great though for figuring out how things work.
Given the condition I've seen some WWII-era stuff has been in I'd say this thing just needed a proper cleanup in comparison. Like, I've seen some WWII-era guns brought back from the dead to flawless working condition, this siren restoration must've been a walk in the park in comparison.
I wish no one would hear that sound!
ok
I remember watching you when you were at like 400k subs!!
First one here!
LMFAO 🤣
@@toohigh5376 Not at all 🤣
So satisfying to watch your restoration video. With patience you managed to restore it to its former glory.
It's refreshing to watch a genuine restoration video.

Imagine all that the helmet went through
It was made in 1979 which means it was probably invented not a long time ago
WW2 ended in 1945...
Wow
@@Pablo-Turbo they probably just meant air raid sirens in general and not this exact model

why does this sound like something hugglebees would make
Cool, great job. 😎👍💯
Such wholesome content. Keep it up ❤️
Slivki is the best! ❤
Very nice restoration!
Part of my siren collection is a Federal Signal Model G, a small hand-crank that can get a hell of a sound but this thing is an absolute treasure
This is so satisfying 😊
I love that people still would love to give sirens a second chance at life, amazing!
Thanks for another great video.
3:06 btw that’s called a drill
The white stuff raining from the sky is hail dropping from the sky.
You must be fan of the show "KING OF RESTORATION"

People praying, to never have to listen a siren !
We Muslims listening them every year in Ramadan month on Sahri time. 😏😁
Love from India 💯❤️🙏
7:41 as a siren enthusiast i can confirm that's is how a siren really works.

almost 2mill congrats
Watching the turbine spin in old sirens like that is mesmerizing and I've been watching sirens and they did come a long ways from the second world wr
Great restoration

Didn't know I'd see CT here
If that sound was heard by any old vietnamese veteran, they'll be doomed 😂😂😂
The ritual has been done
SlivkiShow has summoned a Messerschmitt
Hopefully he restores a full size one!
Nice restoration, but I wish you hadn't kept saying how far back 1979 was and how old the siren is as I was born in 1976! 😱😭 Way to make me feel ancient!
Why does this feel like I'm watching a flight safety video specifically the Icelandic one
1:44 that is called a Chopper, not a turbine

I love your contact, hope cookie is well 🐾
Some babushka living in a wooden cabin is getting a heart attack from that sound
I watched resident evil, so I immediately knew what this was before even reading the title
Really educational thanks
Use carbon off to remove paint then rinse before wiping off paint with scotch bright and kerosene 👍
You should use paint stripper with your next restoration. Way easier than grinding at it all day.
A sandblaster might come in handy, too. Use walnut shells or baking soda at a lower presser and it won't damage it. 🤔😁
i love how dude called a drill a screwdriver lmaoooo (it may just how its called where he lives)
this is siren from Poland in small city Niepołomice near Kraków
Damn bro that's cool
hey mannn that siren is from poland im proud
My mom using tisy as my alarm clock 😂😂

O polska syrena
Is it a Polish fire brigade siren? They were until the 80s, in the UK.
Love your vids
Ok now this is cool
4:11 Niepołomice Polska 🇵🇱
That is just a shame😢 probably save so many lives and it was just left to rot 😵
Awesome!
That could be a steampunk bee-hive
You should have tested the sound with a decibel meter since we can't hear the loudness on UA-cam.
Spray clear coat on bare metal to prevent rust ✌️
Which camera you are using ?😀😀
....had one like this one at gram's cabin... we kids were not allowed to play with it tho ...
At first i was like, noooo don't do that at full crank, not where you are right now. Stay safe.
Letss gooo
if any body knows the music in 0:01 pls tell me or what type of music it is. thanks
Imagine hearing that while walking through a forest. I'd nope the fuck out of there.

I thought it was made back during WW2 but the year shows the year i was born. I feel old now.
Use petrol or gasoline to clean the grease or dirty things
