Be prepared, the RENegades are coming. Ren is a beacon of hope for those who live in a world of pain and darkness. He brings hope to thousands of people on a daily basis through his art, honesty, compassion and charisma. I'm 74 and believe that he is the greatest artist I have seen in my lifetime. Thank you for your reaction, what you have seen today is just a small part of Ren's world. Subscribed for many more reactions to his art. My fellow RENegades will enlighten you on the many facets of Ren's art, but to get the ball rolling.... he is a self taught guitarist and his keyboard skills (also self taught) are on a par with his guitar skills, he co-produces and co-directs his own videos, writes his own music and lyrics. He had a number one album in the UK last year as a completely independent artist...........
Agreed. Soon-to-be 65 here. Ren has eclipsed - and/or deepened - all prior music (and much else) for me. Basically, there was the me before discovering Ren in early 2023, and the _better_ me, after.
Hi. I am a 65 year old man and Ren is a once in a lifetime artist. I feel privileged to have lived long enough to experience his talent. He is the only artist who has made me cry not only on the first play through but on nearly every time i hear this. Great reaction thank you
Yes we have a mental health crisis and Ren is our therapy. Especially due to the fact that he is a role model for men who feel societal pressure to push down their feelings. Welcome to the Reniverse, where we normalize being human and thank you so much for giving this masterpiece so much love 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Welcome to the multitalented genius Ren! ❤️ This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. Ren is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art. Other Renegades will probably recommend songs like Sick Boi and Troubles for insight into his story with illness and years of misdiagnosis. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites that doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. A little help to guide you on your journey: - For the trilogy of tales, react to the 13 minute video “The Tale of Jenny and Screech”. It contains all 3 in the correct order. - Check out the following in order of release: Freckled Angels -> Suic!de -> For Joe. It makes the last performance even more special. - Watch the 35 minute video explaining why Sick Boi is down for context before checking out Kujo Beat Down. - When you get to the Money Game trilogy, watch the lyric video for part 2. Also if you want to understand the man behind the art (and why we all love him so dearly), check out his 1m subscribers video on defining success. Hope to see you deep down the Ren rabbit hole with the rest of us 🐰🕳️🖤
I agree with these choices as a start, but Money Game and Sick Boi before Kujo Beatdown. Hi REN, MG and SickBoi are all referenced in KBD. 🌸🌸🌸 Then take a break from the tough songs to something light like Losing It, Power, or The Big Push.
Also, if you want to understand his story even more, you can check his second chanel @RenMakesStff, where he recently released 8 videos, 8 "Chapter" about his story, what he went through ! He shared really vulnerable and personnal stuff about him, about his stuggles... Deeply interesting if you ever want to understand him more, which also helps understanding his music even more !
@@JeremyMckay-b7k That's what you got out of it, and that's perfectly valid. That doesn't mean that's what everyone has to get out of it. It's up to each person to interperate art for themselves. While Ren does like playing with religious imagery, he's said himself he's agnostic. So feel free to draw what meaning you feel is in the song. Just try not to impose it on anyone else.
67 year old Renegade here, loved your reaction. Listen to ANYTHING in his catalogue and it won't be like anything you've heard before. There is life before Ren and life after, enjoy the rest of your life! A word to the wise though... you don't need captions, his enunciation is perfectly clear for any English speakers whatever your background. There are lyric videos in his catalogue which should (usually) be listened (and watched) first. I envy you diving into the rabbit hole for the first time ˉ-ˍ ͓
Ren plays many instruments. He is also self taught. Welcome to the RENeverse. Be careful if you watch anymore you will become a RENegade like the rest of us.

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction. ~~~~~~jAN 01, 202~~rEN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.
Renegade here, new sub! I so appreciate your reaction. Ren took 2 piano lessons as a kid. Loved music but didn’t like the lessons. So he is completely self taught with guitar and piano. 😂 I think you would really enjoy the trilogy. The tail of Jenny, Screech and Violet.
New Ren track droping tomorrow 😊 Btw if you like Hi Ren you'll be really amazed with Tales of Jenny and Screech trilogy and Money game series (3 parts). Enjoy 😊
Renegade here checking in for reaction. Loved your reaction to Hi Ren! The next song he released was Sick Boi. It deals with the issues he had with the medical and mental health industry He actually got Lyme disease at 19 and his increasing illness caused him to lose his record deal wih Sony. He was mostly bedridden from 19 to 26 in pain and fatigue diagnosed first as Bipolar, then ME/CFS. Because it was left so long untreaded, the Lyme bacteria caused a lot of damage to his brain and body and immune system. He is still dealing with all of this today. He is 34 now and just recovering from a very bad 2 months. Music has always been his therapy. Ren is music and art and he is also a wonderful person. Really hope you explore more of his work. I subbed in hope of more Ren. Welcome to the world of Ren.
In an interview Ren said that Hi Ren was a one take, the fourth take they did. They didn't have permission to be in the basement they were in, and they had 4 cameras and two mics. As they were finishing the second take, the building manager walked in and asked them to leave. They begged for another 30 minutes and the fourth was the take they used. However, the very end part when he turns from putting down the guitar and starts talking is a separate take. They were allowed to go back when the building manager helped them submit the correct paperwork. Post production was them just taking footage from the various cameras they had set up to auto record. He's done quite a few single takes, both storytelling and singing solo / duo. Earlier this year he won a couple of international music awards for best song video for Money Game III which was two takes.
You got my sub when you connected this to Dr. Maté. Just from that one mention, I know all of your breakdowns are going to be insightful and perceptive.
Ren is incredibly multifaceted! You have so much to discover. Enjoy the journey. Rap to Urban Jazz. Metal to Reggae. Beautiful duets. Even his own special genre: Bardcore! Introspective, uplifting, soul crushing but above all his music is always genuine, honest and profound. He’s very supportive of reactors. So go for it and spend a few months exploring his catalogue.
Oh Boy, be prepared. The RENegades will pour into your channel and flood you with suggestions! I am 61 and haven't been this excited by any music/musicians in decades. I am proud to count myself as a RENegade and would like to suggest you check out Sick Boi next then feel free to devour everything he has done. He has many collaborations with people like Chinchilla (who is awesome) as well as his band The Big Push. His busking videos are an education in musicianship and his videos are pure art. Ren is so good that I and many others will binge watch reactions to his videos for hours often listening to the same track over and over and they never get old. I must have heard Hi Ren over 100 times and it still blows me away. xxx PS Don't use the closed captions, Ren more often than not adds the lyrics to his videos and never copyright strikes so feel free to watch all the way through, he is very generous and appreciates reactors big time. He epitomises the phrase "A rising tide lifts all boats" xxxx
Welcome to our world! Loved your reaction and will stick around to see what else you do. Ren is a multi-talented musician that you will love to dig into.
Thank you so much for your reaction. That you began by holding your guitar in an "I might want to play along with something, or stop and teach from what I'm experiencing" mode and didn't even speak until *way* into the video is perfect. As a hopeless non-musician, I also appreciate the genuine reactions of real musicians to the "..music is all about the creative process...." part just before things get properly dark.
Get ready for Ren. He taps any and all genres of music and no two of his songs are alike and he easily switches between many instruments. After a deep dive into his catalog, many are referring to him as a generational artistic talent, and I must say I fully agree. I’ve been a musician my entire life, and I have never (NEVER) experienced anything like Ren - he is a true artist and inspired poet. I have many favorites but I will leave it to others to suggest which of Ren’s masterpieces to check out next since they are all pure gold. Cheers!
Renegade here. And a Hi Ren reaction hunter. Red face bespeaks of the honest internalization and appreciation of the piece. I luv it even if you didn't say much.
Please consider checking out more Ren. You will not be disappointed. We'll be here to watch and listen to music you share as well. He's a gift to humanity, who needs to hear his message through the gift of music.
Welcome to the wonderful world of ren, where you can always expect the unexpected 😊 hes truly a special once in a lifetime type artist, subbed in hopes for more ren reactions from you 😁🥹💜
We call ourselves RENegades. We are huge fans of the artist and love to watch first time reactions to Ren video. He is a self a taught musician and uses many music genres in his own special way. Please react to the 13 minute video of The Tale of Jenny and Screech. He performs like a traveling minstrel, telling a tragic story of two people from the streets..
my favorite part is that you stopped when you did. i am writing this comment before you hit play or even made a comment, just a deep breath. AND you hadn't even been truly smacked in the face by his triumphant beautiful almost reggae type sound. cant wait to see your face after you hit play!

If you will commit to the Ren rabbit hole then you’re in for the most amazing writing and musicianship you’ve heard, perhaps, ever!! This song was recorded live, in one take, with 3 cameras. Ren is a “one take” master!!! We who follow his music are a hard core bunch of fans!! Ren, himself, stands for the goodness of humanity!!! He’s not only words, he’s also actions! ❤
I'm 65 years old, and Ren is a blessing to my heart and ears, welcome to the Renegades, Jenny and screech trilogy next, we will help you down the rabbit hole 🕳️,
I can tell that you need some Ren in you life. Dig in.he doesn't really have a genre, all of his work is very different from each other, you might not like it all, but there is a lot to choose from. He is a once in a generation kind of artist
The whole thing grabs you right away! You looked emotional right at the intro vocal. That's where I started sobbing, and every line and phrase was a shot to the heart. I LOVE watching others reveal emotions, because it's as close as I can get to that first experience. Now it's third party, and we live vicariously through your reactions. There's a joy in tears that is the release from blindness and bondage coupled with the knowing others are still in darkness, and millions more each day are launched through gestation & birth into this fish eye world. I spent my whole life trying to see inside and outside of life's forced perspective, one hand trying to judge based on what can be "seen", the other hand stepping outside to more of a physics equation and trying to solve for the differences in each variable's observation point. People keep talking about "good" & "bad", but physics gives us our first glimpse into seeing that all changes in the velocity of a given mass are acceleration. Braking is acceleration. It is just matching our velocity and vector to that of another object. In judging good or bad in this world, we must account that all life must feed and compete to cull other herds. There's only so much inhabitable planet, and every living thing is a devil, whether we conform to the charge to cull the herd or feed it into the spoiled bliss of starving & diseased overpopulation. Vividly recalling my own birth, circumcision and early surgeries, are factors in defining life as actual "hell", and all of those are just a microscopic subset of everyone's intensely shining lights casting darker & darker shadows! I really hate how much I love irony!
REN, Gabor Mate , beiing sick, dealing with trauma, PTSD, mental health and so much more it all has a connection and a level. Its like a puzzle in the matrix. Sometimes you find a piece of the puzzle of live and sometimes you are very lucky and blessed if you find someone like Ren. Loved your reaction ❤ from the Netherlands.
Great reaction 👏. His live one shot performances are perfectly imperfect and add to the performances. His use of natural reverb and his surroundings is absolutely brilliant. Welcome to the Ren 🐇🕳️ and enjoy the support of the RENegades. The RENegades are as diverse as his creative styles.
If it hasnt ben said yet. He is self taught, his style is kinda all over the place. But no bad songs. I challenge you to try to find one. His nylon string skills are best exampled in the Jenny and Screech trilogy.
Great reaction. A word of advice when reacting to Ren - turn off the comments. Not only are they a distraction to you because when you’re busy reading them, you will miss something visually or musically, they are usually very incorrect but they also can contain spoilers to the storyline that you 100% do not want. Subbing for more.

Wow, great story, so cool, thanks for sharing!
More REN, please! You get it!
WELCOME ABOARD THE RENAGADE EXPRESS 🚂🚂🚂
You got my sub when you connected this to Dr. Maté. Just from that one mention, I know all of your breakdowns are going to be insightful and perceptive.
Same here❤
Ren is incredibly multifaceted!
Thank you for reacting to our beautiful boy Ren… you better buckle up.. as the rabbit hole is an interesting and crazy ride!!!
I must have heard Hi Ren over 100 times and it still blows me away. xxx
PS Don't use the closed captions, Ren more often than not adds the lyrics to his videos and never copyright strikes so feel free to watch all the way through, he is very generous and appreciates reactors big time. He epitomises the phrase "A rising tide lifts all boats" xxxx
Another incoming Renegade 😊 loved your reaction x
Welcome to our world! Loved your reaction and will stick around to see what else you do. Ren is a multi-talented musician that you will love to dig into.
Welcome fellow Londoner! You might appreciate knowing that Ren is Welsh originally but lives in Brighton. ❤
Great reaction
Ren is a gift.
DO more Ren. You won't regret it.
Watching the floodgates open
Ren seems to find people at just the right time for them. Happy you took the leap! Great reaction!
❤ EVERYTHING REN ❤
Ren❤❤❤❤
Simply an amazingly artist!! Genius combination of musicality and lyrical brilliance.
Ren is a unicorn and a once in a lifetime artist. If you choose to go down the rabbit hole I promise Ren doesn't disappoint
Very very nice reaction! Welcome to the world of Ren, he's got loads of styles. Subscribing for more Ren! :D
Ren is an amazing artist. I’m a classically trained composer who is also at the beginning of my Ren journey. He transcends genre. It is art.
Welcome to Rens Rabbit hole. You will love the journey you have just started. Xx
When he plays this live its pretty awesome too .
my favorite part is that you stopped when you did. i am writing this comment before you hit play or even made a comment, just a deep breath.
AND you hadn't even been truly smacked in the face by his triumphant beautiful almost reggae type sound. cant wait to see your face after you hit play!
I've never heard of Rin till about a year ago then found this song and I so resonated.
Welcome to Ren ❤

Yup caught another one. You will love this rabbit hole and we will love joining in on your ride. Thank you
If you will commit to the Ren rabbit hole then you’re in for the most amazing writing and musicianship you’ve heard, perhaps, ever!!
This song was recorded live, in one take, with 3 cameras. Ren is a “one take” master!!!
We who follow his music are a hard core bunch of fans!! Ren, himself, stands for the goodness of humanity!!! He’s not only words, he’s also actions! ❤
Blow your mind a little more. He's self taught and this is a one shot take.
Hah suspense knowing waiting for you to press play again knowing whats coming .his whole being is genius
Awesome reaction!
I'm 65 years old, and Ren is a blessing to my heart and ears, welcome to the Renegades,
Jenny and screech trilogy next, we will help you down the rabbit hole 🕳️,
Thank you so much for your honest reaction! I love it when reactors can’t help but let the music run.
Welcome to Ren 💚 The meaning of life is to find your gift .. the purpose of life is to share it . He is cool
I can tell that you need some Ren in you life. Dig in.he doesn't really have a genre, all of his work is very different from each other, you might not like it all, but there is a lot to choose from. He is a once in a generation kind of artist
First you're enjoying VoicePlay and now you're watching Ren. Two of my favorites! You have great taste in music!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Ren! Enjoy the ride, hopefully as much as I enjoyed this reaction!
There are two periods in a person's life: before they listen to "Hi Ren" and after. Welcome to the better part of your life.
Welcome to the Reniverse it is life changng so sit back and enjoy this amazing journey. Thanks appreciate you brother❤
"True work of art." I'm in for more of your journey ❤
REN, Gabor Mate , beiing sick, dealing with trauma, PTSD, mental health and so much more it all has a connection and a level.
Its like a puzzle in the matrix. Sometimes you find a piece of the puzzle of live and sometimes you are very lucky and blessed if you find someone like Ren.
Loved your reaction ❤
from the Netherlands.
Wonderful reaction to this visceral human experience - Ren is truly a once in a lifetime Artist - looking forward to your journey 😊❤
Ren is a human work of art. A beautiful artists and man. WE can all learn something from him. At a minimum you will learn humility.
Enjoy the Ren rabbit hole! Subbed for many more ❤

Welcome to the amazing world of Ren Enjoy the ride its amazing Have fun
If it hasnt ben said yet. He is self taught, his style is kinda all over the place. But no bad songs. I challenge you to try to find one. His nylon string skills are best exampled in the Jenny and Screech trilogy.
Awesome, cannot wait!
Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole.He is a genre of his own and on your travels you will find many more talented artists have fun on your journey x
