Hi Robbie. Would you consider reacting to Love is Healing (A Song for Ren). It was written by another reactor and musician, Wynand Fourie. He enlisted the help of the Renegades. It's worth a listen. Enjoy!
Your explanation of the audio software was gold. I can hear the effects Ren uses to artistically enhance some parts of a song and now I know how it’s done. Thank you.
there is a awesome Clip of Ren where he shows his Guys how he did a certain effect (iirc it's the hook but changed as a part of the Beat). He goes like "and then i did this" Wooosh slider to the right. I fkin can't remember wich Track it was xD
@@Tearnofear It must have been the manipulation of the Vera Hall ‘Troubles So Hard’ sample. Ren just released the BTS for Troubles on his "RenMakesStuff" UA-cam channel today but I haven't watched it yet.
I love Ren, but please don't get into "Kujo Beatdown" so soon! He has a massive catalog, start earlier to understand and appreciate later songs more. "The tales of Jenny and Screech" the trilogy, and "money game" part 1, 2, and 3 are a great place to start ❤ especially from the perspective of a musician, keeping in mind that he wrote, directed, choreographed, mixed everything and performed them all "live" and 1 continuous take on all 6 of them (with 1 small exception on the end of 1 of them). Enjoy your Ren journey, I'll be here for it (and so will 1 million+ others 😂)
Really love your approach to doing reactions. So much fun to see how much thought goes into production that I might hear and appreciate without understanding where the choices are made.
Kate Bush introduced some of the great singers from the Bulgarian choir tradition with Rocket's Tail mixing the choir with her voice and synth's and David Gilmore duet dancing his guitar around on top. I suspect that might be what caught Ren's ear. It caught mine when I listened to Sick Boi, I hope he works out a separate deal to use samples or even do a direct collaboration with the choir.
Sick Boi and Chalk Outlines are my two absolute favourite tracks from Ren (Chalk Outlines not being rap... looking forward to when you hit some not-rap Ren, too!) I'm glad for so many reasons you've done Sick Boi next - firstly, it's an important part of Ren's autobiographical cycle of songs (ie, will give you greater meaning to a bunch of his other stuff), secondly because it's utterly critical to have watched it first before getting to Kujo Beat Down (... I highly suggest watching Ren's 30min explanation of that situation before you head into Kujo Beat Down... I'm wildly interested to hear any producer/industry commentary you have to share on that, if you feel like doing a reaction... but it's understandable if not). (not that KBD is essential material to take in this early in your Ren journey, but watching Sick Boi early means you're primed to do KBD whenever the mood takes you) And thirdly, because: see Paragraph 1, lol - it's a complete banger. I *love* the beat on this one so much. The grittiness of the bass, and the Bulgarian choir... my background starts with Conservatory piano and progresses to singing alto in madrigal ensemble in high school obsessively looking for traditional traditional music from around the world before the internet was widely used. 2 decades later when my daughter was watching Ghost in the Shell, I looked forward to the soundtrack every single episode, lol (tho the choir's not actually singing traditional Bulgarian material; the composer wrote the music in the Bulgarian folk tradition). 12:17 - you gotta watch Ren's thank you to 1 million subscribers milestone. No need to react if you don't feel like it, but if you haven't taken it in yet, you should!
Oh, that latest from Ren has a musical score he wrote, but it's not a song. He started a new clothing line, Sick Boi (organic, ethically produced, pricey, and as an addition to his regular merch), and meant to do a little promo video. But this is Ren, so it's morphed into a 5-part distopian series, and that's part one.
I couldn’t make the live, but ensuring sure I watch before I start work today. So glad you followed your heart and did music Robbie 😊. I usually watch reactors that just feel the music and message, probably because I have very little musical or film making experience. I’m just a consumer who feels the end result, and like to keep the ‘magic’ intact. I really enjoy you nerding out over Ren’s production though, you make it fun, I bet you’re a brilliant music teacher 😊
I seen some recommendation to react Kujo Beat Down song. Before you decide to react to this song, please watch the video on Ren channel explaining the background of this song. This will make me you understand song better😊 Appreciate you ❤
Another great reaction Robbie! Ren's going to re-release the song and album with his own beat, not sure when that will drop. Guessing you're on the West Coast, as it looks like this livestream was at about 1am EST. Maybe the next one could be daytime for us early birds? 😊
'this is so cool, im not in the head space to be feeling what hes feeling' 'but cinematically this is really cool' 🎉🎉 Love seeing another musican appreciate the level of artistic expression Ren puts into everything he does.
Since you mentioned enjoying seeing him on the live stream, react to or just watch his 'One Million Subscriber' video. There are also a couple of really good interviews you will enjoy -- as you get to see how he thinks and get glimpses of his creative processes. The first one is with Justin Hawkins, titled 'The Ren Interview' -- it is one of the first interviews when 'Hi Ren' was changing the world. (It is also worth seeing Justin Hawkins' reaction to 'Hi Ren' -- which prompted the interview.) The next interview is with Chris Liepe, and it's also titled 'The REN INTERVIEW !!' but with more caps-lock. :) The last one is with The Charismatic Voice, titled 'Ren: The Tea Time Interview,' and it was around the time his album 'Sick Boi' released. These are the interviews that instantly come to mind for being insightful and important. -- I won't offer song recommendations, as everything is really good or astounding, and for someone like yourself with art and musical curiosity, you will love everything Ren has ever made.
Now you have to watch REN’s diss to Cujo. The guy that sold him the beat that caused all the copyright issues causing Sick Boi to be taken down. The song is called Cujo Beatdown and I think it was just a way for REN to process and express his feelings over what happened.
From chemical engineer to professional musician? That's quite a switch from one mindset that requires hard fact-based observation, to another that requires artistic access to emotional interpretation. That can't have been an easy, natural transition.
If I wasn't already subscribed, you would have earned it today by talking about turning away from the pharmaceutical industry in favor of music. I have the utmost respect for you. Choosing to go the route covered in fog, rather than the crystal clear yellow brick road to riches tells me so much about you, as a person. My son is 16. He's a straight A overachiever in school and they're pressuring him to do something like that...or worse. Raytheon is one of the largest employers where we live. They recruit regularly at his little charter college prep high school. My son wants to do music and I am supporting his dreams to pursue it. He's not interested in being rich. He just wants to do something that he finds fulfilling, without causing harm to others, if he can control that. I think there's great value to the world in that attitude and I don't want to crush that spirit. Everyone else can stay mad if they want. Family members who think he's "wasting his time" feels to me like they're just disappointed because they can't see a way that THEY can benefit from this pursuit. I don't see my son as my future support system. I am his present support system. He's his own person. He deserves to choose his own life path. I will happily hold his hand through the bumpy parts. Thank you for sharing that little bit about your own journey in life. I feel good knowing that my kid is not the only soul out there who feels this way. Sending you a big hug for being such a true soul. ❤️💐
@RobbieSko ~ I'm so happy that you had a chance to read it. I don't comment often but, when I do it's a novel. Big love. Your channel is wonderful and I love all of the technical and musical knowledge that you bring to your reactions. I have to show my son later. He would love all of your insights. He plays keyboard as well. Plus, he just recently got this FL Studio, I think it's called, and he's been producing short little songs. It's amazing. Switching his main focus from academics to music has done wonders for his mental health. Music and Art is better medicine than any pill they can create. ❤️
Ren offered to do a song with Kujo and he turned it down. Nobody could comprehend turning down an opportunity to do a song with Ren. But it makes perfect sense. Kujo stole part of the beat he sold to Ren. He can't make music. He doesn't have the talent.

Yeah...when I had my car being broken into nightly and my bike stolen from over a 12 foot fence my first night after moving there, I became a raging murderous pschopath who kept a huge butcher knife by the door so I could (and did) grab it and run outside any time I heard a noise. So, you're doing great!! (p.s.) I moved from there so have recovered, but I now know any one of us can be pushed so far as to allow the dark devil to emerge. Heh, humans...
Another great reaction and breakdown. Gonna be 2030 when we get to songs like "Crutch" or "How To Be me", lol. The anticipation builds...
I enjoyed this comment immensely
