Yours is one of the underrated channels..!!
When listening to other testing the 2 version is cleaner and better at rejecting "S" sounds compared to the 2s which is more s. I use studio monitor speakers and have a treated room. In a studio or out in the open I would use the 2. For space savings and weight savings the 2s sounds identical with small differences... The 2 has better off axis rejection which is better at rejecting side noises but the dis advantage is that if you move much when taking the 2 is going to change in volume a lot more than the 2s which be better for if you move and speak.
Very useful thank you! Simple and straight to the point
Love this comparison well done and thanks!!!
The regular 2 has more off axis rejection making it so you have less echo.
Thanks
Do they have the same capsule inside?
Great review, much appreciated.
Thanks for explaining so well, helped a lot. I just got Deity S-mic2S for fx3 for run and gun shoot. I am getting lots of handling noise through mic, is there a way to get around this? Thanks
I've been seeing this comment on several videos lol
@@maruwaanmoses lol, thanks for stopping by to acknowledge that :)
Yes and no. A longer interference tube makes the mic more directional, but also increases the risk of phasing issues when recording indoors. A shorter tube reduces the chance and severity of phasing issues, but also makes the mic much less directional. This means these super short ones can be better for interiors, but really you should just use a hypercardioid small diaphragm condenser indoors (at this price range the Oktava MK-012 film set, the AT4053B, and the Audix SCX1-HC are all valid options, and Deity has their upcoming Uni-mic).
The smic 2 sounds the same as the s Mic 2s here indoors. Does this debunk your theory or is there an explanation for that? Wondering cause I'm looking at these two for purchase.
@@mjgfromDDD It's not a theory. It's a well known flaw of shotgun microphones and it's why they're not used indoors much. Deity even demonstrates this themself in a video on UA-cam. It's why the Schoeps MK41, Sennheiser MKH50 and MKH 8050 are used instead indoors.
Is the Deity Uni-mic out yet?
@@RadianFilms64 Nope
@@dylanj8676 Thanks mate! Waiting for that I guess. :)
S-Mic 2s is better 👍🏻
