This was the best race of Rossi's career, I think. He knew he had to do absolutely everything to stay in front of Stoner, cause Stoner would've disappeared to the distance if he had been allowed to just run at his pace. It also changed the tide of the season as Stoner had won the previous three races from pole and was again half a second faster than Rossi in qualifying here! Not to mention that Rossi had never won at Laguna Seca before. Basically, so much was at stake and that Corkscrew pass was incredible.
Exactly , because eversince Ducati are good on the straight but japanese bike was made to be a champion , Yamaha and Honda catching Ducati every corner due to poor contact on the ground of Ducati
idahohunter45 You may have been at one of the greatest races in the history of moto gp. All thanks to the awesomeness of Valentino Rossi. ROSSI RULES FOREVER!!!!!
He cheated running over the race line to beat him. Stoner lost all respect for him after this race. Rossi complains that Marquez has ruined the sport by his overly hard tactics... It was Rossi who started this trend!
@@petecotter6790 wtf are you talking about? Did you even watch Casey's post-race interviews? Rossi gained no advantage by "cutting", instead he lost pace and Casey caught up a little bit (as you can see they are closer than before the turn). Turn on the brain, rewatch the overtake and tell me what you saw

Another quote direct from Rossi on Stoner in the most recent interview with italian Rolling Stone magazine. "Stoner did an amazing job at Ducati," Rossi said in Rolling Stone. "When I looked back at his telemetry, I used to wonder how he achieved such times. I immediately realized the bike wasn't the best." This leaves me to believe that Rossi ate some humble pie when he climbed onto that Ducati for the first time and realized it was Stoner's performance and skill all those years that gave Ducati 23 wins. The only rider to do so for Ducati.
Proves that a bike has to fit to your driving style and the driving style has to fit to the bikes architecture. I would like to see if Marquez could handle other bikes the same way he does with his Honda.
Stoner had not been the first rider that, dictating the evolution of the bike, adapted it to himself so much that none else was capable to ride it effectively (and, in the case of Stoner, so much that ultimately not even himself was still able to ride it. After 2007 he won every year less with the Ducati, and in 2010 he arrived only 4th in the championship). IE it happened to Rainey and Marquez... Not all the great riders are great test riders. Stoner won the championship in 2007 and 2011. The first time with a bike evolved by Capirossi, the second with one evolved by Pedrosa.
Stoner and Rossi that years were my favourite riders. Their talent, their capacity to push the bike other the limits, their speed... For me only Marc Marquez matched it. That day, even it was 11 PM (I live in Italy), I was awake with with father watching the race, and we were not disappointed. Probably the best race ever, that demonstrated how Rossi and Stoner were good. That day the pair was like from another planet. They were battling like no tomorrow, but look how much they were fast on the others, no one has approached them. Even Stoner fell, he was still second and with a great advantage on Vermuelen.

This was my first ever MotoGP race. There were only two riders that day. What a battle. I'll never forget the roar of the crowd Everytime there was a lead change. Historic battle
I have so much respect for Stoner for battling with Rossi. He knew what he was getting himself into but still went for it and in my opinion he did amazingly well. I just started riding recently and I idolize both of these amazing riders.
This was my introduction to MotoGP... I took my young son at the last minute and we arrived at LS about 15 minutes before the race started. What an amazing race. There was Rossi and Stoner and the rest of the field. Unfortunate Stoner ditched it on the last lap. Great race
OZZIEMV Every time when when wasn't able to beat Valentino or anybody else, he was blaming everyone and everything around. I'm glad he left MotoGP. Nobody remember about him now.
fuck you. rossi is a cheating little bitch who taunts every rider near him and even kicked marquez off his bike, yeah what a real champ. Stoner has better skills and mastered the ducati, while no one else could, and proved rossi wrong.
The only thing that is crap now is the moaner, Stoner! Good riddance! Marquez just recently passed Rossi in the same (Corkscrew) turn, and Rossi laughed it off. Yeah, Stoner was an unbelievable talent, but the dude needs to sack-up.
Rossi was off track, he went into the gravel, came back and pushed stoner off his line, that shouldve been penalty for rossi. lol Marquez is just enjoying the bike that stoner help build and left it for marquez. We know rossi can only win on the best bike. Anyways motogp is so one sided and boring i dont bother watching it anymore.
I have a new found respect for VR. He was quoted in 'Sport Rider Magazine' that he states that " Casey is the only rider that can be fast with the Ducati. All the other guys that try, have destroyed not only their career, but their mind, so congatulations to him ". You've really got to hand it to Valentino for saying something positive like that about a fierce rival who he didn't get on with. Power to him.

Aquel adelantamiento de Rossi en el 'sacacorchos' y en la vuelta de honor beso aquel curva, falta este circuito en el campeonato, al igual que Indianapolis...
many people have short memories before the 2015 season It was Marquez himself who said that Valentino is a legend of the MotoGP and his idol since he was a kid. he did not even have all this filing of today with Lorenzo. this is enough to understand who is truly Márquez
Too bad the current Rossi isn't in this shape anymore. Still, these kind of overtakings (i bet he had left his brain in Tavullia that day) is something unbelievable, although a bit dangerous both for him and for Casey.
I can’t help feeling sad about the GOAT’s retirement. He’s the main reason I watched Moto GP. Thank you for the great ride, Doc.

Uhh yeah, it’s best to be in front, especially at the end.

I'll never forget this race. Just amazing watching from the hill seeing one of the most amazing battles in Motogp history. Just epic.
I remember watching this on T.V, was the best MotoGP race I had ever seen!
By a long shot. And that's not even because MotoGP had been boring. This race was epic indeed!
It was incredible!

And Stoner says to Rossi, "your ambitions outweighed your talent".
livewoutlimit that was a different race casey said that. it was when rossi took stoner out when he was at ducati
DUMB KID
I watch Moto GP extremely rarely but one day I stumbled upon a race and it was this one. The best fight I've ever seen in motorcycle racing.
the only one who can ride the ducati is stoner
+endar hardiawan iannone isn't that bad either...
+Alessio Valentini agree
and the rc213v, not like stupid ass Marquez falling all the fucking time. Come back stoner! Gods sake!
Bilal Hashmi it was the bike that keep making marquez crash all the time
Viandra 160 I know, what I'm trying to say is, he can't tame or handle its power...

And that's how you ride a ducati valentino
LOL, he crashed in the end tho :3
wilmer calibo And Rossi never won a title on the Ducati, I guess you missed the point.
Couldn't even win one race and what one third place in two years
thats probably because rossi's style doesnt work well with ducati's tech or whatever..
Always excuses from Rossi supporters
They may not have liked each other off track but they raced like legends on track. They'll go down in history as two of the greatest ever.
