They need to do this for dragons quest 9..... please bring me a remake of dragon quest 9 it was my very first DQ to ever play & i absolutely love the final boss corvus he seems to be over looked for some reason yet i think hes got the coolest & saddest story

As a big DQ4 fan I was waiting for this, and it was great
And I'm very glad after that Psaro just stopped wanting to kill everyone, that was very frustrating to see everyone being disapointed and giving up on him and him not caring at all
All that he did was in character for the DQ4 Psaro, but for the character that they made Psaro be for that game it was all out of nowhere so it's why it was a pretty frustrating part of the story for me
Also spoiler, the choice they make you do before that scene is a false choice, I decided to not trust Rose but I still got that scene too

@@deGoomyan5538 Probably NES memory limitations. They didn't have a lot of room for sprites so making Psaro a palette swap of Estark at the battle's beginning was a way to save space.

I didn't really understand how this ties in with DQ4, if at all. Is this an alternate timeline where Psaro chooses to be a hero? Or does he still eventually become the monster Psaro?

      *BIG Spoilers*
This scene also happened in the original, but after this event Toilen brings you back by reversing time with all memories intact.
It is an alternate timeline after that point in time. A different ending for Psaro so to speak.
In the original game there are two endings. In the first Psaro dies (this scene). Then in the "postgame" before defeating Psaro you can revive Rose and with her you can convince Psaro to stop his plan. Psaro joins the hero's group and together they defeat the true villain - Aamon.

Essentially its a giant arseplay like they did the troll`out in many previous entries, by hinting the connections in Dragon quest 11 with treasures, with a certain rogue and his sister. Though in thar case they were WAY TOO YOUNG to copy-pasta portions of the story in DQ11 into treasures.
Doesnt help either that Toilen just randomly reversing time feels like they also wanted to play the same cop out in DQ11 by instead of giving you the option(where in this one they just straight up force ya) to travel back in time, despite `defeating the main evil` at the cost of several things, which most RPGs would call that a win and wrap it up, meaning the whole time travel back feels too hollow. HELL it would of made more sense if Tolien traveled back, borrowed Psaro`s monsters (having the monsters in his main party at the time of his transformation unavailable) and Tolein becomes the playable character for a short period where he does actions to PREVENT Rose`s death.
though in the case of DQ11, it had the graphics, voice acting, camerawork and the time reversing felt more genuine since only the Hero knew about it, which clearly his actions caused a backlash to result in the `absolute evil` of that game coming on down, instead of what i assume would of been far into the future instead if they didnt time reverse.
I`ll still keep to my belief they could of just had yet another no-namer (Or just Tolien in this case) like the protagonist look-a-likes in the Dragon Quest Joker entries and still have effectively the same story. Hell they could of kept the DQ4 connections where you are a monster wrangler working WITH Psaro to get his revenge on his father, you end up facing Psaro, after working together with the Hero from DQ4 to revive Rose and mid-way thru the fight you calm him enough to recognize rose, so then you have it 100% reach perfect synch with the DQ4 story, just having the `monster wrangler` act as the unsung hero that helped Psaro in becoming a benevolent master of monster kind or something.
Just to further add, the fact they did a CRAP TON of power point presentation `stilts`, have the Zenith dragon during the entire period basically roasting you for being a terrible shite as if getting pissed as a beloved of his got killed in front of him was a lousy idea and then they follow up with half animations of you getting your limbs chopped off and them putting more animation work into Psaro transforming into his `second form` afterwards just added even more salt to the wound.
I swear, i joked about thinking of picking up this game if it ever got 50% off, but i dont think even if it got discounted to below 20 dollars or less even after a year would make me wanna play it now with how they made the `story` feel even worst then how the demos & Lets plays i have seen so far, portrayed it.
Probably didnt help either that the post game even has the Zenith dragon despite him having a `hate boner` with you having monster blood or something decides to randomly be a monster wrangler too and face you with monsters, instead of himself fighting and only thru what i assume is the highest level tournament you can do in the game. Atleast the freaking `Elf Half Brother` which i assume was never present in DQ4 itself (or was just too vague to the main plot itself), actually has more gonads to fight, even pulling off a JJBA with a freaking Susanoo looking stand on top of it and likely i assume the only time you face a non-monster specific enemy in the game, unless they have the DQ4 hero & crew shoved in as a boss fight too, But since they cant even bother to let you fight as Psaro VS human opponents and used black screens & camera cuts instead, likely to mimick when Psaro fought in a tournament in DQ4...yeesh.

That was a lot honestly though while I kinda agree with you. It’s not due to the premise I think Psaro is a tragic enough character to get his own game and the premise is interesting. I just think execution was off and he felt like a completely different character. Think rather than time travel nonsense. You instead give players a real choice that leads to good ending or canon and you actually let us play out the events in the original

    • @BladeSerph
      @BladeSerph 7 місяців тому

@@rances4418 exactly, having it actually be choice base would of been better but expecting a fire emblem 3 houses situation on a spin off is likely expecting too much for a title that was trying to bank on nostalgia of not only the dragon quest monsters ‘numbered entry’ but also dragon quest 4’s past stuff.
Which last I checked DQM 1 and 2 were entirely separate games from the main line titles so it makes it even more jarring storywise.
Now if it was a POSTLOGUE of DQ4 where Psaro went on a journey to treading old grounds to make a remedy to heal rose of a rare malady of elf’kind due to her possessing too much magical powers, then that would of been better.
Just having Psaro wear his iconic look from the original DQ 4 entry, especially the version in the dragon quest Warriors type games would have look better.
Instead he looks too much like a randomly generic npc kun with his head slapped on instead of invoking a visage like his steps towards becoming the master of monster kind.
Didn’t help either that because the zenithian hero was present, the entire story was more of a retcon of the existing take then being its own spin off story instead.
Which at that point, could have did a way better job of mimicking the previous story by taking place In the human world and you would switch between fighting normally as Psaro and have rose and Tolien and one or two monsters supporting you in the back lines in the human world and using monsters to combat only to have Psaro stay disguised when fighting in the monster world due to the curse preventing him from fighting directly in lands controlled by his ‘father’ as the condition instead.
It would of been a perfect blend to also adapt DQ4 story moments and they were already reusing the same combat scheme as previous DQ games for the most part anyway so it’s not like much tinkering would of been necessary either.

@@BladeSerph There was a retcon in the remake where you can revive Rose, turn Psaro back to the light, and have him join you to kill Aamon.
