    I loved it. The last time i touched this franchise was in 2002 with Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 on my GBC. DQM: Dark Prince brought everything back in the best way. I didn't buy any DLC and still had a great time. Graphics gripes and completionists don't appreciate how far this game has come.

    • @hannariel
      @hannariel 5 місяців тому +1

      It has way less monsters than the predecessors (DQM2 remake), less animations, the paid DLC was free in the other games... lots of bugs and performances issues, looks like a unfinished mobile game, etc... This is by far the worst DQM made. You bar is must be so low to say "how far this game has come".

      If you liked this game, you'll absolutely enjoy DQM Joker 1 and 2 much more than this

    The PvP has a lot of problems right now, specifically that the stun teams are super broken, meaning if you don't run stun your basically not getting far. It also doesn't help that the best stun monster is one of the fastest in the game. What I did like was the 30 quick battle PvP.

    • @purplatypus7405

      Can you get a selfless unit thst is immune to stun or is thst not really possible?

    • @rebelcommando1
      @rebelcommando1 6 місяців тому +2

      @@purplatypus7405 I've been playing a lot of pvp and there's 2-3 main teams right now- 2x selflessness + grudge users with serpent of the scales or variations, or aoe cc teams like mentioned above. For the stunlock teams, it's very hard to play around them because on a small monster you can only get full immunity (which requires 150 res) on 1 stat per small monster, (potentially 2 in very rare cases) or large monsters. If you try to use selflessness on an immune monster, the status teams will also use disruptive wave to negate your selflessness or just use multiple variations of stuns on the fastest monsters that can use them- for example peckerel, guaardvark and damselfly. All 3 are incredibly fast with different ultra crafty stun abilities.

    • @DeamonReader
      @DeamonReader 6 місяців тому +1

      @@purplatypus7405 That works but if you don't kill the team the rest of your team is getting stun locked on the beginning of the next turn. They just use traits and accessories to break it so you can't really be stun immune.

    I'm 41 years of age, and I have played the majority of Dragon Warrior / Dragon Quest games. The one that you were talking about was Tara's Adventure, and the other game that was required to get every monster in the games was Cobi's Journey. More or less requiring both games is kind of like your complaints on required DLC, so since I don't have to purchase two games and then have two games so I can breed/trade with another console, I'm fine with it. Please by all means if you enjoy it, please enjoy it, if you don't enjoy it just don't play it.

  • @keshang_laow8325

    My monsterpedia is at 95.4%, and I've put 141 hours into the game with no DLC. I think about 5 hours would be synthesis animations and more than double that in total for all in-game loading screens

    I'm new to Dragon Quest MONSTERS....but have played Dragon Quest since it was called Dragon Warrior. And yes I do mean the very first one released on the NES back in the 80's. Have played ALL the main entry games with the MMO being the only exception and to me, this game was easy.

  • @likealaddertothesun

    Agreed on most points here. Based on the crazy high number of recolor monsters, monsters cut from previous games (like for all the good monster designs they added some really dumb ones like the sacksquatch thing but we couldn't get conkclave or the other Mortamor first two forms back), and the performance issues it seems clear this game was strategically made as a budget release with the day one DLC intentionally meant to get as much extra money as possible. My loading times were a bit better with auto save off, and I only lost a little progress due to crashes thankfully.
    I love this series and this is a fine entry all around, but it's hard not to be a little disappointed with the issues, though my biggest feeling is just wishing there was more to play now that I beat this entry.

  • @shinatoIV

    I personally love the game as a whole and the post game. My only complaint is that online ranked matches are riddled with sleep/stun-lock builds, which sort of forces you to play the meta if you want to rank up.

    • @dustingreene5725
      @dustingreene5725 6 місяців тому +2

      Mr. moosebones a known monster rancher player has delved into how to beat status spam builds using a trait called tit for tat that applies status on the monster that hit yours with a status. I don't know how meta that trait is but I've not seen videos in pvp content about it otherwise.

    You hit the nail on the head with this. This was a great recap. The only thing I can add is that the pvp isn't very good. I didn't get to play much older dqm games pvp but there are just too many unbalanced things in pvp. Stasis lock teams galore and it's like your whole team is a metal slime i.e. weak to stuns unless you make them 100% resistant. With doing so you have to forgo moves or stat boost abilities. Frenzied stat is cool for story mode, not in pvp. It's supposed to be a come from behind mechanic and it's just randomly assigned in pvp. Also, "rando" abilities aren't so random. they fire almost always. I'm mad at SE for what they did or didn't do for this pvp. I had been waiting over a decade for another dqm so I could do pvp and this game in the regard is a letdown to me. I know that treasures was originally supposed to be a monsters game. So, with them splitting them into 2 games I'm sure that messed a lot up, but it does feel like they cut a few too many corners. Here is hoping we get the next one that comes out and its improved on.

    as a new DQM player I found the game hard only in a few bosses and mostly because I didn't knew how to make my monsters stronger via Synthesis. Now that I have A rank and S rank monsters in the middle of the game yeah I am overpowered.

    I guess this ties into your lack of a post-game point, but I HATE that you can't re enter any of the tournaments.... that could have added a bunch of special items to obtain to the post-game and variety of battles that aren't PVP. Basically if you don't do the PVP, there is nothing to do besides complete the monster entries....

      @purplatypus7405 it also feels like they toned down the world interactions. There was a whole side mission integrated into the loading transitions from island to island, I feel like they could have done the same in this game by sometimes spawning into a different place than you intended to go when traveling between Echelons.

    Game ended up being a massive disgrace to me once I found out all the players in ranked just quit the game before they lose. This forces YOU the player to always lose points, and makes it 100% impossible to climb the ranked ladder. Completely ruins end game.

    The thing that really irritates me about SE is that they know they can easily put this on pc (and they will, just like with dq treasures) but they make us wait for at least 6 months after the switch release for literally no reason. The target audience for this game is already playing on the switch for what reason do you hold back on the pc release? Monster Hunter stories 2 (amazing game btw) came out on both switch and pc, sold incredibly well, and was generally recieved well too. That game runs like ass on switch as well, but the pc port exists if you want better performance just buy it on pc. I played this game on the switch all the way to the upper echelons but I just cannot stand the horrendus performance issues.

    I didn’t know about fast traveling until the way end of the game. I had 45 hours of playtime but that would’ve been 40 if I knew. Overall as someone who’s only played dragon quest monsters 1 on gbc I liked the game but felt it was very lazy. There was no original music, areas while cool to look at were bland, and the game ran and looked like shit. I am used to old graphics but not as laggy as this. It was a good game but cheaply made.
