I’m 16 and I was so into reading back when I was in elementary and middle school but as I got older I completely lost touch with reading but I’m so missing it. Thanks for these recommendations. :)
Update: I read A Thousand Pieces of You. I really enjoyed it and I think it was the best book to get me back into reading. I just have to say, I love, love triangles ahah. Don’t think I’ll read the rest of the series right now, maybe in the future :) Currently reading: The Butterfly Girl (my sister just brought it home from Walmart, how could I say no to a free new book)
Haha yes! That’s definitely fair lol I also notice there’s a lot more romance in young adult, so if that’s something people like, YA is where it’s at haha 😄
1. Caraval 2. Eragon 3. Spin the Dawn 4. Kiss of Deception 5. Shadow and Bone 6. Cinder 7. Clockwork Angel 8. A Thousand Pieces of You 9. Illuminae 10. Falling Kingdoms
I’m just now finding your channel and I’m working my way back through you videos. I’m excited to discover a lot of the books you’re recommending. I will say I’m 41 years old and two of my favorite series of all time are Caraval and The Lunar Chronicles. I absolutely adored both series.
This was super helpful in getting more insight into the general feel of several books I've been interested in. Given the sheer breadth of content labeled as YA, this was a great idea for a video duology!
a lot of YA fantasy for teens still felt a little too adult to me when i read them 😅that's why i still like to stick to YA sci-fi (like illuminae) because the romance doesn't feel so in your face, and the focus is more on the plot than getting it on in random closets (cough cough the mortal instruments) 😂
My favorite book series is Wheel of Time, and I want more books like that. I don’t mind a lot of violence, but when there’s sex and that stuff it really puts me off a book. I also really like the bigger books, 500-800 pages. Are there any books out there that match that description?
Bit of a late comment as I have only just seen this video, but have you read The Ember Blade by Chris Wooding? I think this book would really match your description here!
All of these seem interesting, i have already read the lunar chronicals and i agree, it is so good! i do have my own recommendation, the series called The Wolf, it is about a prince who is slowly gaining his throne and becoming a respected king through the series, i have not read the third book yet so i do not have any idea what it will bring into the story.
I agree with you relative to A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU trilogy. I read this in my early thirties and loved it; and, at that point, was so far removed from the target audience. It is a great experience for any age.
I love that trilogy so much! I find it so underrated and totally agree, it’s one that any age (just like all these books) can enjoy!! I loved it reading it as a 25 year old! 😄
I highly recommend the Percy Jackson series, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Maze Runner by James Dashner, Holes by Lois Sachar, and Eragon by Christopher Paolini!
I'm sixteen and I've been reading seriously since I was in primary school But once I got to grade 9 I stopped making time for reading for fun I started reading seriously this year again, I just don't know what to read anymore These recommendations are super helpful
My opinions (as a 12 year old) - Caraval : I loved the book and the concept but then at the end I HATED tells so much I couldn’t read the next book - Eragon: Never read it - Spin the dawn: Never read it -Kiss of deception: absolutely LOVED IT!!! I haven’t read the next ones- But I’m going to- I LOVE IT Lia was amazing -Shadow and Bone: I liked it, just wasn’t vibing -CINDER: Oh My Gosh THIS WAS SUCH A VIBE! I loved it a lot! I thought I wouldn’t like the fact it was a retelling- but I loved it Clockwork Angel: Never read it A thousand pieces of you: A thousand pieces of you Illumanae: Never read it Falling kingdoms: Never read Also: thanks for the Recs! I needed some new books!
I was surprised that ash princess series from laura sebastian is not in the list. I am a mystery thriller reader. I just started with fantasy and wanted to pick something easy to read with a simple magic system but yet gripping. I thought YA would be easier to start off with. Ash princess was it and now I am into the 3rd book. I find it good!
Hi I’m desperately trying to find a book series A bit like Dunk & egg or the John Gwynne Valour series. With a young boy or girl coming-of-age sword fighting save the world storyline any suggestions please
OK now I have to read the lunar Chronicles because you Compare that to sailor moon And you know how much I love sailor moon so. It's a good thing This series is on My list of book series that I wanna get to in 2020
It’s so adorable!! And yes I got some serious sailor moon vibes in the later part of the series!! You’ll have to let me know what you think once you get to it 😄
Wondering anyone here has read the nightbirds by Kate J Armstrong? I think that would be my next YA fantasy novel. Will read a few more series before I venture into adult fantasy. Baby steps .Or maybe Caraval..
I once read a dystopian book for young adults where basically all people above the age of 18 die suddenly, and only kids and teenagers of certain age are left alive. Some other things happened but basically they just tried to find out what's going on and survive through everything. It was honestly so good, and I'd really like to know if there are other books similar to that. Do you have any recommendations? Now that I think about it, my description sounds really bad. There was just something that got me hooked
@@JessieMaeBooks It is!!! Everyone should read it atleast once in their life. I think this is a good series to get in to if someone wanted to start reading fantasy.
I love reading stories about fantasy, time travel, romantic heroes & heroines, dragons, castles and mermaids, so I started writing about the stories I love. (Click thumbnail for book video trailers) luv2write!
I think Illuminae is more on the younger side of YA, too. And I agree, the AI is my absolute favorite character! I agree that some YA reads younger, which is fine, you can still like it. I love some middle grade, and those are meant for a younger audience. I think I agreed with all of these that I have read. And Eragon is one of my teen FAVORITES!
I am wanting to get more into middle grade because I’ve been hearing wonderful things about some recent series! Totally agree, any age can enjoy any story no matter who it’s aimed towards! 😄❤️
Oh my I agree so much! I loooove middle grade books. I'm 28 and I love some simple fun and creative story plot that they usually have without the romance or other stuff I don't necessarily always want to read about.
I would suggest reading “ The Throne Of A Witch. “ by forgotten_or_lost ! It’s still ongoing! It’s a fantasy story with what seemed to be a Enemies to lovers transition happening 😏 but over all it’s really good! SO READ IT [ it’s on wattpad btw! ]
I am 14 can I read six of crows because I really like the story line behind it Or would I like shadow and bone better also can u pls tell the story line of shadow and bone 😊😊😊
You can absolutely read Six of Crows! I personally love Shadow and Bone because it has the chosen one trope that I love but Six of Crows I think has better characters!
I definitely thought Shadow and Bone would have been better to me if I would have been younger when I read it. I actually gave my copy to my 15 year old niece! I really enjoy the Lunar Chronicles, but I also gave a copy of Cinder to my niece lol really she got a massive bag of books from me recently when I did my unhaul haha.
As a 13 year old I have some suggestions ^^ -Wings of Fire -Maximum ride -Percy Jackson -The hunger games -Emily Windsnap (Nostalgic for me) -Seven deadly shadows There was one more that I forgot the name of, also Idk if all of these classify as fantasy.
