Behind The Scenes of NBC's Charge Across America

- 5 teams in 5 different Electric Vehicles raced from NY to LA as a part of Park My Fleet’s 10-day EV rally. Each day the teams set off to drive between 300 and 500 miles choosing where and how long they would charge and whoever had the most points at the end took home $10,000!
While the documentary of this event recently was shown on NBC Sports, unfortunately, the one-hour documentary could only show so much so, so we put together a behind-the-scenes story showing what it was like to participate and WIN Charge Across America!

0:45 - Points Breakdown
1:43 - Introducing the Teams/Cars
3:29 - Day 1 (Brooklyn, NY to Pittsburg, PA)

What an awesome recap! Bravo buddy!
Thank you! Thanks for being a wonderful teammate!
Congrats to you both. Appreciate the peek behind the scenes (especially as they seemed to gloss over so much in the actual show!)
Well done, you two! Amazing strategy throughout the rally!
Thank you CAA!!
Absolutely amazing to create this behind the scenes video. I know it takes a lot of work, but hearing all the strategies added a huge amount of insight. I’m so glad you guys won. Was rooting for you throughout the show.
Thanks for watching and following along!
So fun! I love hearing the decision making process.
Thanks for watching!
This was awesome thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
This is a great idea as the show went thru things pretty quick due to length. Congrats to you and Lacy!
Watch the show and this recap, good job. However it might be worth mentioning it is not proper etiquette to use a 350kw charger if the vehicle you drive will not take 350kw. Mach-e Max's out at just under 150kw, in the rally that might make sense but for normal use that is not nice. I don't think that was made clear here or in the show. Otherwise great job.
Yes good point! Using the 350kW stations didn’t help us charge any faster but slowed the Taycans. Outside the rally we would never plug a car that peaks at 150 into a 350 stall and we hope our audience understands that too.
Really appreciate this BTS commentary! It filled in a lot of gaps and answered some questions I had. I'm looking forward to your interview with Electrify America. Would like it if you can speak to someone at Polestar too. Congrats on the win!
Thank you, maybe we should reach out!🥰
@@KLWTTS When you talk to E.A. have them explain why so many chargers are down for service and why it takes so long to restore service to a failed charger? Thanks;
Aye I remember running into you guys at a Walmart charging station in Indianapolis! Great meeting you all!
Great to hear from you too! Thanks for following along
Is there anywhere we can watch this now? Really interested to watch this!
@The Kilowatts - I take a small break from all my EV video watching over the holidays and dang, I miss knowing and watching this rally. Do you happen to know if and where it can be watched On Demand? Couldn't find anything on UA-cam (besides this and Lacey's video) and nothing on the CAA website. Thanks, and very nice job with the summary and BTS!
Thanks. I didn't catch the NBC show. Do you know if it's online anywhere? I wasn't successful searching for it.
Good morning,
I was trying to see if I could watch Charge Across America on On Demand or via UA-cam since it’s aired but I didn’t see anything. Do you know how one can watch it now? I’d love to check it out one of these days.
a charger almost bricked 2 cars.....this is insane for the non-tesla world.
Yeah, we’ll have the full video with Electrify America explaining how that could happen coming soon but it’s something that SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!
Sounds fun, but the constantly changing would drive me nuts.
Yeah, pushing these EVs to their limits, stopping every hundred miles or so was a lot, kinda like adopting a new puppy and pulling over frequently for bathroom breaks
@@KLWTTS I meant the constantly changing rules and points stuff 😂
I was only here for the Tesla.
Anyone ever find this On Demand?
Very interested in the chat you had with EA. Is the show steamed anywhere? No cable here
Yeah, I can’t wait to share that too. CAA should be available with UA-cam TV free trial!
I’m sorry, you couldn’t use a Tesla? Wtf?
Why was there no Tesla car team in the mix?
Why were there no Teslas in the rally? Is it because the rally was sponsored by EA thus not wanting to show the better charging experience or just to make it more of a fair competition?
They wanted vehicles to be on the same charging network. CCS is the only plug in the US that would enable multiple different makes/models to participate
@@KLWTTS I get it. But it would be great if the actual landscape included Tesla and it’s network, as well as other networks, to show all the options available to the public, included but not limited to Tesla. But again, I understand.
@@TesLatino we’re willing to participate in something like that too!
@@KLWTTS #LFG!
Lol, no Teslas. Biden’s race across the rustbelt. 🤣
Yep, Biden called NBC and controlled their programming. Jesus, you guys really need to get a clue.
