That purpose made block for the boring head and bar really did turn out excellent. The bar itself looks impressive! I expect RPM's will have to be modest because of imbalance aspect. That plate must be super heavy! Squared edges came out nice. Lot of drilling - great you have that mill. Nice job.
Anxious to see how your offset boring add on is going to perform... So far it sounds promising... If I get REALLY bored, I make holes in my 9 by 4 feet welding table, I'm not there yet... 😱😎👍
The extra accessory holes will be very useful in that big plate, even for projects past this one, good idea. And I like your idea for extending your boring bar diameter capability, that would come in very handy. Hope you're doing well.
Randy that was a big job setting up the fixture plate, a whole lot of Rinse and Repeat but the end result will be handy for several lifetimes, at least.
The whole time I watched you drilling and all I was thinking that would make a heck of a welding table. I just bought a cheap one with a 1/4" top. That would make a good top for me. Take care Randy
Hi Randy I built a welding fab table like this last spring, there are 3 videos showing the build. The third part shows how I built the legs, check it out if you like or don't.
Hi Randy, Great vid. Who made your rear way protectors (both the z and and rear y ways) and where did you buy them? Also, how the heck did you get that plate on and off your mill?
The link for T-shirts and coffee mugs is on Randy's community page. Go there or be square! Everybody needs a RR in the Shop Coffee Mug. It wouldn't be couth to spill coffee on your RRITS tee shirt from any other mug. LOL
The plate that Dad used for a welding table is still around here, somewhere ... short two of the legs he had put on it. It looks like it may have been a liner plate in a rock crusher at one time, with the ragged surface on one side. No idea what it is made of, or how tough it would be to drill or machine, I'm not sure I'd want to try. Breaking through that rough side may well be the bane of drill bits.
A heck of a fixture plate. Approximately 157# before drilling all the holes. I don't see the link for the coffee cups. I checks some other videos. It's looking good. Waiting expectantly for the Boring video.
Randy, Nice side project within your mixer project, this fixture plate looks great. If you desire to grind the surface of that plate I know where you can get it done!!
Precision like that on such a scale and then to go on to the job you did on the mixer journals is like being taunted. The old "Here's what you could have had" ! they use on gameshows. I'd just about reconciled myself to making do with a new soldering tip and maybe a few grams of rosin ... and you go and do that to me!!!! Envy is a sin. One thing is certain though, you're a machinist, you move like a machinist and all five fingers on both hands prove you think and plan like a machinist too. If I did get the kit (and I still have last year's letter to santa as well as the mince pies). Yesterday I was modifying some flashy things for christmas and I found myself hanging on to a piece of wire while the solder dripped down my nail. Pain like that focuses the mind. I think it's pretty certain using the kit you have I'd be signing myself off as three fingered andy - or one eyed whiitey within a week. Maybe it's just as well. Seriously enjoyable watching I can hardly wait for the first brick going down.
Lot of work there, no wonder you have put it of till now. Should prove useful though. Tip for next time you want a square hole, drill four small holes in a square tangent to the desired square before drilling the bigger hole in the centre. An oldie perhaps but still valid, the tip I'm referring to not you or I. 🤣

What a sweet fit into the boring head!!
Thank you Lyle, Came out great, and I did it live what was the chances of that.
Now that is not a mini pallet it is more of a maxi pallet. Looking good.
Yap...!!! But, still a Mini welding table...
Had to go big, or go home. Thanks Harold.
Someone always has a bigger one.
Yeah I would love to score an acorn table for cheap.

Excellent machining.....top-job
Thank you Music man.
Randy, nice fixture plate.
Thanks Carl.
holy moly....great addition to the shop arsenal...very nice
Thanks Chuck, I think it will be great.

That plate must be super heavy! Squared edges came out nice. Lot of drilling - great you have that mill. Nice job.
Thanks Chris. Yep I am sure the turning will be slow, lots of extra mass will help.
That offset bracket for the boring head was a far more elegant solution than my boring head in boring head configuration I used. LOL
Thanks Brian. Almost ready to get things setup, I think it will work well.
Nice plate for what ever you want to us it for. A very useful universal plate.
Watching in Alabama
Thanks Anthony, good for a lot of things.
This really is turning out to be a MUCH bigger project than I thought. Well done sir! I'd of gave up weeks ago.
Have to keep with it. Coming along. Thanks Deweys.

I hope to get setup this week, Thanks Pierre.
Very impressive work. That sure is a lot of holes to drill and tap, Thank you for making the video.
Sure was Glenn, lots of holes, Came out good. Thanks Glenn.
The extra accessory holes will be very useful in that big plate, even for projects past this one, good idea. And I like your idea for extending your boring bar diameter capability, that would come in very handy. Hope you're doing well.
Thanks Everett. The dual purpose holes are working great.
Outstanding work. That custom fixture plate is just perfect for a ton of jobs!
Yep John, I have been wanting to do this for quite awhile. Just I really need it, so no better time. Thanks for stopping by the shop.
Excellent project and planning Randy thank you for the lesson.
Thanks Jim. Worked out well.
Thanks for the video.
Thank you Colin.
Morning Randy! Sitting here with a great cup of coffee enjoying your episode.
Thank you Craig, having coffee right now.
Nice work on the boring bar Randy!
Thank you Clint. I hope it works.
Nice work Randy.
Thanks CR.
I bet that would make for a pretty sweet drill press table.
That to. Thanks Drew.
I’d like to learn more about your hammer-for-square-hole method in your next video 😁
Years of practice and experience. Thank you Yuchol.
Thought I was watching This Ol Tony. 😂😂
He only knows a few of the real tricks.
@@BenButler1 LOL, TOT would have used a "square" mill bit!
@@RRINTHESHOP I thought you were going to use your shop made broach. Nice job, lot of holes -jim

Thanks Randy. Lots of holes, yep it will be a real nice welding table.
Nice work. I no the guy that sent that square.
Thank you Mike. I need to put names on things. Can't remember everything.
Hi Randy

Thanks imystery man, I will check it out.
I'm not interested much in CNC, but THIS if anything is what that is for.
No this is my welding table. CNC would be nice to drill the holes. Thanks Barry.
Hi Randy, Great vid. Who made your rear way protectors (both the z and and rear y ways) and where did you buy them? Also, how the heck did you get that plate on and off your mill?
My mill came with these covers they are great. Here is a link to some that are similar. www.mscdirect.com/product/details/63416184

And that boring head extension came out top notch.
What does that sort of thing cost? 20 x 28.
Thanks Eric.
Now you need a broady knob, I think they were call for the steering wheel. I put one on the tractor
Also know as suicide knob. Thanks Ed.

Thank you Andy. You are kind. Patience should be the #1 virtue of the worker in the
shop.
Looks like it came out really nicely, Randy! That's a stout piece of steel. Have you run the boring head yet?
Thank you Tom. Yes yesterday, one end done, hopefully the other end today.
Incredible welding table Randy. What is that cutting compound you're using?
That is anchor lube. water based. Great for stainless drilling and tapping, or when you don't want oil everywhere and on everything. Thanks Greg.

@@RRINTHESHOP Randy I meant the clamps that are holding the plate down to the mill table.
Ebay a few years back.
