As employees transition to management roles, they may first focus on the new title, authority, and possible pay increase, but many times they soon learn that it also comes with increased responsibility, accountability, and challenges. This session will provide practical tools, strategies, and recommendations to help new (and existing) managers with maximizing their management and leadership success.

If yiu were working hard you could never get ahead. You have stopped working so you went ahead. Those are individual qualities. I dont think thise are generational trends. If you are workholic you would be individual contributor and not keep looking at others. Sounds this person is thinking everything other than doing work. Zero individual contributor and keep looking at others
