A partially submerged body is towed in water. The resistance R to its motion depends on the density p, the viscosity u of water, length L of the body, velocity v of the body and acceleration due to gravity g. using Buckinghan's heorem of dimensional analysis, express R in terms of dinensionless parameters
Thank you for this explanation, but what if we have 2 geometric properties in the variables(e.g. velocity - V, Young's Modulus - E, width - w , Diameter - d, and density - D)
While aranging the repeating terms should we always select in order like first comes geometric property one, second comes flow property one 3rd comes, Fuid property one or is it just random
Thank u so much our explanation but I have question about Properties, How we know that geometric, fluid and flow properties ? Also we have many quantity , for example; stress, pressure so how I know the strees which quantity ?
How do you know which property to choose for step 7? I’m first year engineering student and we have not done fluid mechanics yet so I’m confused which parameters to choose
It doesn't matter which one you take from the geometric, flow or fluid property, as long as you don't take two of the same and don't select a dependant variable. For example, in the same pi group you can't have diameter and length because both have the same unit.
Great explanation. However I would have liked if you explained why you prefer a variable over another while selecting pi terms. Also, what kind of term is Q? Is it flow property?
I think the variables are chosen to make common dimensionless numbers like Reynold's Number or Weber Number. I'm also guessing Q, the "Discharge" is volumetric flowrate in (m^3)/s
Sir a question arrises... why we have considered density as a flow property not viscosity....plz give explanation for that..... its not my doubt but others are asking too... so plzz make that thing clear... and coming on understanding u just save an hour of all the students....well explained sir. thanks ..
This is such a perfect explanation. Lifesaver!
Tomorrow is my exam of fluid mechanics 2 and i thought this one is tough one but u make it so easy to understand and remember... Thank you

Sir I have a ques why we taking density as a repeating value why cannot take viscosity both are fluid property
Only one property we have to choose
Can you explain why density is a flow property??
ua-cam.com/video/EUPHLVIrJrg/v-deo.html
It is related to fluid....
wonder full explaination sir 💞
Please make more and more videos on mechanical engineering. Love from DUET, Gazipur, Bangladesh

Sir apne kya hi explain kiya hain easiet explanation ever on youtube for thi topic lots of love for you ❤️ 😇😊🙂🥰
Thanks for the straight-forward explanation!!
This is a really great video thank you ❤️
What, if we take dynamic viscosity as fluid property instead of density ?
Thank you for this explanation, but what if we have 2 geometric properties in the variables(e.g. velocity - V, Young's Modulus - E, width - w , Diameter - d, and density - D)
I think we have to choose 1 of this
Very clear... thank you so much
best video on this subject.., thanks bro

Really like the way in which you explained and keep it up
Easily I understood this.... thank u sir
very helpful for me. thank you so much!!!

great explanation, saved me an hour.
very helpful thank you so much sir...😊😊😊
Is it just me, or does anybody else think this guy has a 200 IQ?
His explanation was great undoubtedly.
By the way, is it just me who didn't understand how "LuckyLifer" guessed his IQ?
:D
@@mohammadaminkazemi7830 correct bro..
I think 200 is less
the accent sounds -5 iq
Thank you for making it easy 👍👍
This was awesome sir.. thank you so so much sir
Nicely explained. Thank you!
wow...perfect thank you very much
bhai thanks , superb way of teaching

can we choose dynamic viscosity instead of denity
very helpful and clear
thanks
Sir, why is discharge not chosen as flow property?
why did you choose rho over mu ?
ua-cam.com/video/EUPHLVIrJrg/v-deo.html
Any one fluid property we have to choose
@@edutechguruengineeringlear4280 thanks, I understood that we can choose any fluid property as a repeating variable and the solution will be the same
Excellent Video and explanations!!
Thank you!
If I have one independent variable with unitless then should I include it in pi theorem procedure
Thanks sir now I am going to subscribe your channel
Thank you, really helpful!
if there is one independent variable having no units then will it be included in the pi group formation
What about discharge is it a flow property????? Please reply
Superb Explanation Can't Get Better Than This.. Very Useful Though..
Thank You Soo Much 👍💯🤝
ur explanation is excellent sir 👍
Thanks a lot it was really helpful for me💜.
Thank u so much our explanation but I have question about Properties, How we know that geometric, fluid and flow properties ? Also we have many quantity , for example; stress, pressure so how I know the strees which quantity ?

Just did the calculation by taking viscosity instead of the density, the answer is the same.

@@MD-en6ji yes, Q means discharge rate or you can say volume flow rate which unit is (m^3)/s
Why you selected density only ..why don't you take viscosity??
