I think it's a bit late, but we select the easiest or more common term for fundamental variables. Like length represents geometry Velocity represents kinematics (flow) and density represents shapes (fluid). We could choose viscosity instead of density but density is more popular.

As in 2:40 , it is just like simply define 3 categories of picking geometric , flow and fluid properties. Unless these three properties are applicable to all function, i still dont understand the logic to pick repeating variables.
