You sir are a damn brilliant mind- I was freaking out because I did the dumbest thing and had hammered the chipboard on the wrong way around and thought I was going to have to sell a kidney to buy another goddamn Billy bookcase but thanks to you and your brilliant video and modern day technology I was saved. May you be blessed from the high heavens above and good fortune shine on you xxxx
Your are a lifesaver. Sincerely, A guy currently standing over his hemnes wardrobe wondering why he had to nail every. Single. Nail. Provided. In the back board
Thank you so much!! I accidentally nailed the back of an Ikea bookcase backwards and thought all was lost... and my kid for whom I built the bookcase was pretty upset. I tried to take the nails out and was afraid of causing damage, but your method of hammer-tapping them with a flathead screwdriver did the trick perfectly. I was able to correctly position the back of the bookcase, and now there's no sign that anything had initially gone wrong. Thank you!
I just put the back on flipped on a dark oak. So noticable! Furious at myself but good ol UA-cam to the rescue. Your video saved the day, all removed and corrected, no one would know. Thank you!
The sides of the cabinet were concaved inward when nailing, so the shelves didn't fit. Your trick helped me re-nail so the cabinet was ready for Christmas. You are my holiday hero. Thanks so much!
God sent you for us literally bro we are exhausted from Packing and this trick changed everything and you saved my closet from breaking wow what a smart technique your visors does make a difference in life bro keep it up
You're a life saver! thank you & bless you! selling my Billy bookcase and was about to cancel the deal when I came across this video. Thankyouthankyouthankyou
Thank you for this video, just saved my Billy today :) Grew up without a dad and one of the things I miss a lot is the opportunity to learn some craft, since he was very apt at it.
This was the best video! It's Short and to the point, it has perfect camera angles and close ups, and I can understand what he's saying. Thank you so much!! ❤❤
Thanks for the tips!!! I’m going to have a go at it. I have two pax almost 8 foot tall wardrobes that I need to move. They sure weren’t going to be moved to the new room without disassemble! Though I did spend some time trying to make it work. ( 8 ft cabinets don’t maneuver around tight corners very well!) So now armed with a flathead screwdriver, a hammer, and some patience, I’ll give it a go, your way!
I found this out experimenting, thanks for putting it online! People need to see this. I found that with a very thin screwdriver you can push it far enough below the screw, or in the slit between the panel and side and pull out the panel through that bit of wood. Using the back as a hinge. No need for a hammer or rotating around it if you;re careful. And pulling them out can be done with some pliers too.
Damn it!! I did one build perfectly, then did the other with the back flipped; white side facing the back. My wife said she would never have noticed it. Not me!
Definitely a neater job than I did. Every hold damaged so far. Must have put the nails in good and proper to start. Great video though, thanks a lot for sharing.
Thank you so much. Your technique worked so well!! I used a nail filer initially because the nails were so far In. Thereafter, I used the screwdriver. Thank you!!
dude that`s amazing and really a good way to eliminate the nails from the back of the closet unfortunately i have broke too much of closet back in trying to eliminate the back.
I was all ready to go "naaaa, just hammer from the other side carefully and you'll be fine! As I've done it before without any real issue. However I learned when you go to put it back together you're left with a board with about 50 nails to remove before you attempt! Might as well do it this way (the right way) as in the long run it's not going to take you that much longer. Well done!
Wow! You saved my wardrobe mate! Thank you ever so much! As a variation, I've used a strong tweezers as the tip is sharper, then pulled with a plier. I did with the wardrobe standing, but that was a mistake, the way you did it is much better
After watching this video I immediately tried and I fixed it within an hour. My partner put the backside in the wrong way (brown side facing forward). Thank you so much. It's been a pain and I never thought I could fix it without breaking it!
Andrea - That is such a nice offer! My paypal link is - www.paypal.me/ABexx I’m blown away the amount of people who have found this useful! Even my wife had to use the video a few weeks ago as she sold the cupboard and actually used my video 😂. Glad it helped you 👍
I have a Argos cabinet and have put the back panel on the wrong way round and when I try to get a nail out using this method the top bit of the nail just gets ruined ? The nails have wee screws bits in them so I think that might be why the nail won't come out help please

Out of curiosity, how did you go rebuilding that?

zeger22 - Depends how well they are hammered in, I couldn’t get the thin screwdriver under my nail.
Damn it!! I did one build perfectly, then did the other with the back flipped; white side facing the back. My wife said she would never have noticed it. Not me!
Edward Raldiris I just did the same mistake aha
Mygadd me too just now

Feels good to not be alone.
Thanks for your post. Your process worked a treat on sorting a kitchen cabinet that had not been squared properly.
Finally today I was able to dismantle and then assemble it together. Thanks again mate!!!
Thank you SO MUCH. Like many others, made the stupid mistake to hammer in the back with the back on the inside. This really helped to fix it!
I am so happy, to be here. I am so happy, to be here. 🤣 On a serious note, these videos are so important. Thank you.
Omg you have literally just saved my life the I realised I had assembled 2 Billy bookcases wrong 😂. Thank you so much!!!!

David j - No problem :-)
Thanks bro 😊🌹
Is this method word for small nail ?
With even smaller nails?
Thank you.
Legend
WHY NAILS TO BEGIN WITH?? I had to do this on an as-is sale piece. If it had been SCREWS, it would have taken me two seconds, and no damages.
Damn IKEA, I swear they do this precisely because it's so easy to damage the back so you need to buy a new one
Mammel248 their instructions suck too man
what kind of nails are these?
Well the nails in my cabinet have small heads it couldve been easier if it were big just like this
Thank you white man
Too time consuming I need something faster 😭😬 I have to take it down because the person who put it up for me put it on backwards/wrong 😒
I am sure you can still buy handbook with all info you need on Woodprix. Just google it.
I think you need to take some time and go to WoodPrix website to learn how to make it.
Matthew Lavergne - Already made a custom built cupboard, so no need ;-)
This was so helpful! Thank you!!
Like all the other comments below, thank you. Saved me much embarrassment.
