They have introduced ghostwriter AI, which means they are going to use low-quality non-human writer to produce a large volume of poor-quality dialogue for mass production. Even the most advanced AIs today have toddler-like writing skills. What can we expect?
They should’ve used Hattori Hanzo instead of yasuke, he would’ve fit perfectly since in real life he was both a shinobi and a samurai, he’d be good doing both a stealth play and a direct combat play
@@ThePamphs simple, don’t have one, they don’t need a second main character to make a good AC game, they’ve done so in the past. If anything they could focus on fleshing out and making a more interesting story for the MC if it’s one. Or you could have both characters but change up the plot a bit like this. At first these two shinobi are trying to kill each other because they serve different lords naoe serves the Oda clan and Hanzo serves the Tokugawa clan. They stop trying to kill each other when they become knowledgeable about the creed of assassin’s and templars by naoe having the mission to meet and escort a Dutch Templar to meet with Nobunaga, and Hanzo having the mission to kill the Dutch Templar. They both cross paths they both fight, then they get interrupted by an assassin from the creed who kills the Dutch man. They interrogate the assassin and he explains everything to them, the Templars lust for world domination and control and their long war with them. They let the assassin go and agree to not kill each other and to keep in contact and monitor their lords. Naoe’s lord Oda Nobunaga’s love for western weapons and works makes naoe suspicious of him and make her worried that he could fall victim the Templars influence. Her fears are justified as she finds out while spying on her lord during a meeting he is having with a mysterious man that they are discussing whether the Templars will come and help Nobunaga finish conquering Japan. Nobunaga agrees and is made a member of the Templars on the spot. Naoe in shock escapes the castle and goes to Tokugawa territory to find Hanzo and relay to him the news, she finds him and they plan to find that assassin they spared and let them know and ask for their help in taking down Nobunaga. Thats all I got rn
FINALLY someone speak about Liberation. Liberation is my favorite game if we speak about stealth. You speak about the persona system, it give so much freedom, so many opportunities. It completely change the gameplay. As the assasins, climb and kill. As the slave, pick up a box to pass checkpoint, then pick up a broom when the guard is coming then start a slave revolt to move the guards. As the lady, flirt with a guard to escort you around, bribe checkpoints. And all of them have indepdenant wanted levels. This is amazing. Liberation is the ultimate crowd blending assassins creed ever made, not a single game in the franchise have ever reached this high level of crowd blending.
Ubisoft Quebec keeps making the mistake of doing something that seems cool and not thinking it all the way through. So much of what we see and hear can be explained by them thinking it's a cool idea and not considering how to do it right. No social stealth makes sense for Yasuke but they didn't then compensate by further fleshing out stealth as whole and social stealth for Naoe. Every single bad decision and subsequent controversy can be explained by them going "wouldn't it be cool if...?" and that's it, no further consideration.
social stealth never make sense at all... imagine as Ezio, a wanted person and you can walk freely with an assassin robe full of weapon. How can social stealth work? That's the most stupid thing I've ever seen.
@@Player-gv5lpac1 kinda made sense with the scholars but only when with them otherwise it was stupid, wouldn't the guards see a 6 foot man doing parkour with the extremely obvious assassin's robes? You could say the same about most games of the series: unrealistic, blind guards who can't see hooded armed persons. But, there was a game that handled it pretty well: ac: liberation. They had the persona system a system which allowed the player to dress like a slave or a noble woman and added quite a bit of realism to the stealth in the game. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has never replicated that since.
Doesn't necessarily mean you have to follow that Tenant to the teeth and word-for-word when you don't even have to. Different setting, culture, outfit, etc... give more ways than one interpretation to do "hide in plain sight". Naoe is basically invisible as she is among her people, she doesn't need to hide at all. Because she IS already hide in in plain sight.
@@thangngudxop Yeah good point, I bet when Naoe is eavesdropping she'll just stand there mouth gaping and drool dripping down her face and her target won't notice her at all since she is constantly hiding in plain sight. Sorry for the lame joke but your logic is kinda stupid when considering everything that social stealth is, blissful ignorance I'd call it.
@@gojea8200Just calling it for what it is. "Hide in plain sight" don't always have to involve doing what the series "always" do as "social stealth" and that's not one way to look at it either.
@@gojea8200Also, that's probably the most brilliant lame joke I've seen. Could find a way to work that into the game actually. You, as a player, can act as a beggar, or someone who's crazy, mad, drunk, or a retard whose mouth's drooling with blood or taking a piss right in front of your target face and they'd not even notice they're being eavesdrop/track. If only they did that kind of disguises for Naoe or a separate story related char who turn out to be a secret ally, and make that a twist too.
The stealth is not just supposed to be attacking camps at nights. Playing as Altair & Ezio showed us that the stealth can be at broad daylight with crowds existing. They just try to ruin everything good about their franchises
@@rbkgaming2581Because stealth AC like is impossible in those games. And even if you did it would be boring. Now look at what he did in AC Mirage, that looked like art.
Im quite worried about the writing. The entirety of the writing in the demo is so cringey and in your face, like they're speaking directly towards the audience and saying what they hope we want to hear. hopefully its not like that in the full game.
Keep your expectations low. You don’t want to have yet another disappointment in the series. Don’t expect much and it will probably be an ok game in terms of story and writing.
Naoe is a woman with a visable sword on her back, which at the time was not socially acceptable. For that reason, social stealth would not make any sense.
And edward is always wearing a pirate outfit which is illegal and should send every guard onto him at any time. Same thing for basically any assassin wearing a very fancy outfit compared to the npc around them, as well as a very suspicious hood that again shoumd send every guard onto them at any time. The only 2 for which it is more believable are altair as his outfit is made to blend with monks, and arno because of the constant chaos of the revolution. But sure, this thing that has always been a staple of the ac games despite logically not making any sense at all only makes no sense now
Exactly. I don't understand why some people think that social stealth could fit every setting and time period. In my opinion parkour is a core mechanic of the series, one you can't do a game without; social stealth isn't.
@@docomega7862 I am not talking about outfits. I’m talking about a woman wearing a weapon in a time when not only a woman but a “non-noble” wearing a weapon was against the law.
@@neutralbychoice3584 and being a pirate was not against the law perhaps? Yet edward can do social stealth perfectly fine. Also casually walking around while wearing enough weapols to take on an army and conceiling your identity with a hood, despite maybe not being illegal shoumd be suspicious enough to get into questioning by any guard on sight. Purely arguing from real life logic and laws, social stealth never made any shred of sense. So why start acting now like it is an issue because it's not realistic
I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates liberation's persona system. It just feels like something that's essential to the hiding in plain sight tenent and I don't understand why it's not implemented more.
From this quote "Naoe is invisible by default for NPCs in the open-world - Yasuke is impossible to blend in unoticed.” I read it as Naoe having permanent social stealth and is only noticeable when doing illegal stuff.
OK but weren't yall the ones that were saying that Jacob and Evie were they same so what happened now that the 2 characters have completely different playstyle?
It's dumb move from the start. They should've pushed for hard RPG mechanics and let you create either a more bulky assassin or a more stealthy one. A but like in GoT you can straight line the gsme going full samurai or full Ghost. This 2 character thing is dumb. Assassins are by definition stealth characters with decent light fighting skills...
Just focus on one character, having two characters is stupid and will make the gameplay suffer in the end! Since most people like to have a balance of both stealth and combat!
SO i feel like Yasuke is going to be more of an RPG character, and Naoe is more of an assassin character for obvious reasons. I THINK the idea around it is to please both types of fans. I also feel like the lack of social stealth makes sense IF they focus on using shadows. I don't know if they will have a light mechanic like splinter cell but that seems like the best route to make the gameplay feel similar to these older games. While Yasuke is more of the power fantasy character. You pick stealth or strength. And since stealth seems like less of a priority in the RPG games, they wanted a character that felt like both playstyles Take that opinion with a grain of salt. I haven't actually played any game newer than blackflag yet, I am an old fan that dropped the series and am just now catching up. I am playing rouge for the first time now :) I just wanted to say that lol
No interest in playing as Yasuke. The bruiser/brawler archetype seems crowbarred into AC. And afaik this is the first time they actually have a real historical figure as a protagonist. I think that's a terrible decision. So far in the franchise we always encountered and interacted with historical figures which made for a fun, historical fiction kind of dynamic. But I really do not like the idea of actually playing as those historical figures. Also weird that out of all of Japan's history of historical figures the one they choose to change their entire historical fiction dynamic for in the AC game finally set in Japan... isn't even Japanese. Which seems pretty disrespectful to Japan.
Honestly social stealth in AC was always really basic and never anything special mechanically, and it was always pretty ridiculous on the face of it so I can’t help but feel like not much is lost here.
Being invincible while not doing anything by defaults is much more braindead excuses than social stealth since a woman with swords and hood during that time period will standout more without social stealth. Its a simple logic, one that the devs doesn't have while making this game.
I still dont care if theres a black samurai because hes a historical figure named Yasuke a samurai retainer I dont care about how bad/good the storyline is or the combat Its still a good game for players (some) Hate it Or Love it its still a AC Game set in Japan titled AC Shadows some players still need this game to release like me if u hate it then dont play it if u love it then play it. Its that easy
10:05 I agree with you, but this is very “on brand” for Ubisoft. Because they make so many games so often, they have a terrible habit of removing things that don’t work instead of trying to fix and reimplement them. It’s the same reason parkour has gotten more automated - it’s easier to water it down than to make it work for everyone. It’s more efficient from a business POV, but sucks for players that would’ve liked to see an imperfect system improved.
For Yasuke, a heavy combat char, if they wanted to make him more "useful", instead of only infiltration missions inside Castles like Naoe where he does it more directly and louder, basically a one man-army. There should be missions only for him, like going to warfront on the battlefield and such.
I think Yasuke really will be for those who like the Valhalla/Orgins/Odyssey fans that choose to play them as an RPG more than an AC game. I have a friend who loves the RPG AC cuz the RPG and combat stuff. He doesn’t really care about assasins or the “lore” and gameplay of an assasins. IMO he will be the type to love Yasuke
Social stealth isn't even only a main trait for the assassins, it was one of the biggest traits of shinobi too, they were experts in avoidance, non-detection and misdirection, espionage, assassination, information gathering, disguise, concealment, and escape
I think that crowd blending may not be in Shadows because as you stated earlier Yasuke stands out and as we’ve seen in the gameplay people recognize him and bow to him so that could be a reason but for Naoe it’s different as she is smaller and stands out less but a reason she may not blend is because in that period the shinobi were feared I believe so it would make sense that she may freak some people out. But a way the developers could work around those is a system to ask people to act normal which would go well with quite a few ac games
Why are you assuming most people are gonna use naoe maybe some people like direct combat and get bored with stealth I am gonna use both equally and get the best of both worlds
Yea now that I think about Noaa is gonna be the only character people will be playing as and once they level and learn how to fight well then no one will play as Yasuke a lot
While I do appreciate that Yasuke is build to play combat on occasion as stealth doesn’t always satisfy me, it would be so much better if they gave him a basic functional stealth but it sounds like he can’t even stealth properly bruh. love the Liberation mention of its system
There’s a lot more to it than just stealth.. Yasuke is a historical character, I think it’s cool. It’s like the best of both worlds. You do get to choose who you want to play as. I’m ready for the game!
Lets be real black samurai who is like atleast head height taller than anyone else is kinda hard to use social stealth and blend in... same goes with hooded female that carrys arsenal of weapons 🤷
In AC Shadows Naoe would make better use of stealth as a Oiran/Courtesan. In terms of why Yasuke can't use social stealth because he probably doesn't know how and needs to grow into it. It would be cool if Yasuke could use ship combat that would be something that makes him unique from Naoe as people love black flag and this will work for Yasuke. Also battlefield quests like Odyssey with armies would be amazing for Yasuke as Naoe could never take part in such open combat of armies.
@@65firered it does, he hasn't learnt it... Yasuke basically became an Assassin in the middle or so of the game. It never made sense why Edward was able to use stealth to the level of Connor who trained for years. Yasuke learnt to be a Samurai and has to build on that so he can be an Assassin even then in AC there are Assassins who were brute class like Bartholomeo in AC Brotherhood and his sword Bianca. It's not a requirement as long as you don't comprise the Creed you don't have to have stealth. It is hypocritical though for us as AC fans to say hidden in plane sight when games after AC1 have character with the Creed logo on their clothes, same with Templars that have logo on the clothing it's stupid. I would believe Yasuke OR Naoe weren't Assassins more so than Ezio who is so flamboyantly dressed he looks like a peacock but I shrug it off as rule of cool so it doesn't matter... Social stealth in Liberation/Unity (Clothing change) was the best not crowd blending unless you are dressed like a monk or priest like figure in a religious are like AC1 or look like an average civilian.
I think yasuke caters to newer players or to those that prefer a more combat efficient player rather than stealth, all in all its smart to draw in more players while still giving a great stealth character to those that love the older games
I think the thing that is gonna get people the play Yasuke is the day night cycle. Devs said that missions can be tackled at any time of the day so going during the day probably makes stealth harder but at night stealth would be the easier approach since you have more tools.
I think a lack of social stealth makes sense of Yasuke. It would be very hard for a 6'2" tall African man to blend in at Feudal Japan. It would be really cool for Naoe. I'm wondering how else you could add variance to Yasuke as a character with these types of limitations. I know it's a different type of game by a lot, but I think Blades of the Shogun did the asymmetry between Samurai and Shinobi really well. Like the Samurai wasn't as great at sneaking, but at the same time, the Shinobi couldn't easily stealth kill larger enemy Samurai. They had to weaken them by shooting them or staggering them before they could attack them. Similarly to what we've already seen with Naoe in some of the gameplay. It'd be cool to see Yasuke be able to stealth those brutes that Naoe couldn't instantly take down albeit louder than Naoe. Yasuke's clearly very strong, so maybe they could implement some strength limited stealth options. Maybe routes that are limited by sturdy obstacles that only Yasuke could move, or using the environment, like throwing things from a height onto unsuspecting enemies. We've seen a knock out option in the gameplay, so if they fully committed to the non-lethal and lethal takedowns for enemies, you could also make Yasuke better at non-lethal takedowns despite being overall worse at stealth. Being able to non-lethally take someone down is much more difficult than lethally taking someone out if you're physically weaker than your opponent. Maybe Naoe is super effective at ghosting or lethal kills, but for non-lethal stealth, she's limited against most enemies (maybe to something like sleep darts like from Origins). You could instead employ Yasuke who, whilst louder and more sluggish in stealth, can freely perform non-lethal takedowns not limited to a resource. If your kills effected the outcomes of some missions that might seriously make some people want to stealth with Yasuke if the avoid enemies playstyle doesn't appeal to them. Plus it sounds kinda like it could spice stealth up to sneak up to people and choke them out or just smack their head against the wall. I don't know, I'm just spitballing, but that could add some additional variety to it.
I can see a reason to use stealth as Yasuke - you can limit enemy numbers before they'll have a chance to rally and attack you. You enter an area with 10 enemies, quickly kill 3 or 4 of them and then you begin an open fight with the remaining 6.
social stealth didn't make much sense to begin with, just some random dude in robes armed to the teeth just casually chilling with regular people was somehow invisible.
@@marcduchamp55122/10 rage bait; he’s a samurai and he fights with honor boy. it has nothing to do with his skin color😂 if anything he’d have the advantage because of it.
Social stealth is not a thing because Yasuke couldn't do it, he towers over the other NPC's. It would be just another thing that Naoe could do and he couldn't. That's why it's not a thing.
I love how hated Syndicate was for the fact that Jacob and Evie played so similarly (among other things), so there was no point in switching between them, but now that they have a two protagonists that play completely differently, they keep going "omg why can't I play more stealthy with the obviously armoured-to-teeth brute character"
Thats because the high emphasis combat in these recent games is never what Assassins Creed is suppose to be what sets it apart is the appeal to stealth Combat is only used as a last resort or when you botched up an assassination attempt - thats the whole point - combat was never the focus, its being stealthy why is it so hard to understand that with this game?
@@Cruddy129 and why is it so hard for y’all to accept the series has changed and combat is here to stay? Let’s not forget people complained loudly that the games were repetitive, so they finally switched it up, and yet yall still complain. Hell right now there literally giving us both ! Yet people still freakin complain.
@@chicken1456A bunch of people with no understanding of the franchise/games complained about aspects of the og AC games, leading to a breaking of formula that appealed to new, fleeting fans who don't give a damn about AC and what it originally stood for, while ultimately alienating the actual fans of AC, leading to more and more restrictive gameplay in games that ironically became more "repetitive" than the first games they complained about
I agree the persona system would have fit perfectly in shadows because historically Shinobi did not wear black outfits with hoods and masks like we see in pop culture they were farmers they looked like everyday people just like me and you they would often hide a change of clothes on secret routes that they could quickly change into to look different and seemingly disappear.
Yasuke was made for the 1 dimensional side of the fanbase, but they misjudged that side by choosing the character they did and not expecting backlash from that sort.
I think we're making a lot of assumptions and we should see gameplay of Naoe walking around and seeing what that actually looks like before making assumptions lol.
I think having Yasuke be able to be in the open makes sense as samurai are commonplace. in the trailers NPC’s even bow so it works while Naoe as an assassin is much more reserved to hiding. This would give a reason to play as Yasuke as it becomes easier to move around in open places whereas Naoe works best in enclosed or heavily urban areas. Also, maybe Yasuke could have a bonus feature that allows him access into restricted areas without stealth because of his samurai background, meaning he can walk right into enemy lines and take out the target that way…
I think that the liberations social stealth could be what they are hiding right now cause Naoe (in her assassin form) is still a woman with a sword and other weapons which is pretty weird to the time period of shadows so if she can change her appearance to idk maid or something it would be easier for her to blend in.
Social stealth is what set this game apart from other stealth titles. I hope they at least replace it with comparable mechanics to help it stand apart.
Not gonna lie master assassin is 100% right I think most of us just wanna feel like an assassin like the old games, black flag was the best in my opinion so most of us are going to pick Naoe also, she’s got a hidden blade, so yeah I’m gonna pick her most of the time love the contact by the way
You know, I’m an assassin‘s creed fan i’m assuming you’re an assassin’s creed fan We are both assassin’s creed fans so I’m not going to argue about it let’s just agree that every assassin‘s creed game after origins was shit
@@JohnWick-dc6scnot true origins and oddessy were good games. And I don't see how a game about you being a pirate (the least stealthy group of people other than vikings) was stealthy you literally are plundering ships for they resources and getting wanted for it. There's not way to stealthy raid a ship. Also Edward rejected the assassin's until after the game and into the books by the end he was a ally of the assassin's (like yaskue) and in the books you find out he took the pledge and was brought into the creed so all of black flag we don't play as a assassin we play as a pirate who stole the robes off of a dead assassin.
Number one I never said origins was trash. I said every game after origins odyssey was shit Valhalla was shit origins was understandable Because of the story, so I never said origins was bad origins is actually one of my other favorites and also whenever I say black flag is the best I’m not talking about being an assassin. I’m talking about the story. It had a very good story and I’m not saying that it’s the best assassin‘s creed game because I was saying in my opinion it’s the best because of the story and the Kenway line from Haitham and Connor other than that I can agree with your opinion and the other dude that commented before assassins Creed two, and brotherhood were probably the best in the series, but I will say those were the best in that category because you were an assassin. Black flag is better to me because it has a better story more open but I understand What you’re trying to say, everyone has their opinion we just have to voice them at the end of the day. We’re all going to have disagreements, and I’m not going to sit here and tell you what you can, and cannot like
I'm disappointed in this, but not surprised in the least. The director of Shadows is the same guy who worked on Odyssey, so my expectations for Shadows have been pretty low. Going back to a lack of social stealth after Mirage is going to feel like such a let down, but since fans gave Bordeaux so much shit over graphic quality and bugs in what was initially meant to be a short DLC, Ubisoft was never going to focus on how the gameplay in Mirage was an improvement from Odyssey and Valhalla, choosing to revert back to the lackluster options. Ubisoft's biggest flaw continues to be lack of communication between fans and their own people. They don't understand what fans want, they don't understand what makes a game good, and essentially just end up copying their own studio's games on rotation.
love your videos man but this really isn't thag big of an issue... So many new stealth mechanics are in this game anyway. social stealth isn't used as much anyway, even in mirage
I think Yasuke is for the "RPG" players still playing assassin's creed (The ones who love Odyssey or Valhalla) and Naoe is for the old school "stick to the shadows and stealh" assassin's creed players. Then they give you the option how you wanna handle most assassinations besides probably a select few which are chosen for you.
I would argue that hiding in the shadows is one of the most literal forms of 'hiding in plane sight' and if Ubisoft's goal is to reach a wider audience, the concept of social stealth might be harder to grasp for someone new to the series. Also I feel like this game is going to focus less on the tenants of the creed, and more on 'working in the shadows, to serve the light'. Just my opinion tho
You say Yasuke play style is one dimensional (go through front door and kill everyone), i could argue that Naoe play style is also very one dimensional - sneak around and assassinate everyone one by one. I personally find Yasukes brutal fighting more exiting
that only applies when the game itself is good but just not polished. Unity at launch was a buggy mess but the game itself is a masterpiece especially when it comes to free style parkour. Meanwhile Syndicate and Odyssey are hardly mentioned because they became average product with little to no distinct features
@NiceGuy69-b2y Then their tastes are not aligned with the assassin fantasy that the originals offered. This includes actual good parkour and stealth mechanics. Origins parkour was.. rudimentary. Its a decent game, just not a decent assassins creed game. That's the issue. That's why unity after all the patches is one of the most enjoyable AC experiences. On a side note, The reason I didn't enjoy Mirage was because It doesn't beat 2024 unity. Its a damn shame. That being said, origins has even less parkour/stealth than Mirage. Imagine my shock when I see Origins not being praised nearly as much. Its been few years, doesn't look like a masterpiece to me.
@NiceGuy69-b2y I should have elaborated on 2024 unity. What I mean by that is that you have to play the game with the mods, acu fixes and the cloth physics fix. In gameplay and movement, this makes unity the superior game imo. The movement is much more acurate than vanilla and stealth is wildly good. Combat is also discouraged because its dog shit just like mirage. Speaking of mirage, parkour is not that great. I had to mod it with better back ejects just to stomach it. The parkour feels lame, both in animation and execution. Stealth gameplay is better than the other rpg creeds. I still prefer modded unity for its fluidity and flashyness. I will admit that my favorite world has to be egypt despite its lack of parkour. The stealth tools in origins are pretty bad and leave a lot to be desired. This makes it an inferior game when it comes to gameplay, but by god the location is pretty as hell. I was genuinly puzzled on how the rpg games just got much worse over time. The story was alright I guess.
For social stealth the settings need to have logical crowd. Crowd who has activities, errands etc. Also considering Naoe, social stealth seems unnecessary as she is by default in stealth mode and short height person / not an individual to attract chaos. Her every move is stealthy I think it won't be in this setting. Social stealth should be implemented in settings like, Baghdad, India, Italy, China etc.
“the parkour will be super limited with him” to be fair, the parkour is already super limited with the actual assassin character anyway, so will it really make a difference?
No social stealth because she is a shinobi not just a regular assassin. If she isn't blending in with the shadows then she failed at being a shinobi. Ubisoft is juggling the brotherhood's creed and what it means to be a shinobi. I think it's more important to make her unique instead of making her more similar to Ezio and Altair.
Yasuke yelling real loud behind someone’s back to only knock them out immediately seems hilarious. Hopefully the game is fun. That’s the most I can ask for after Valhalla lol. Like you said, it always seems like they take two steps forward and then one step back. I’d even say they take two steps to the side and a skip and a hop diagonally. Backwards. I think I’ll enjoy this game more if I don’t think of it as an Assassin’s Creed game. It’s a Ninja/Samurai game. They’ve lost the Tenets and they’ve dropped the original Ten Commandments they had for their games. I want to like the game, but I’ll keep my expectations low.
Everytime Ubisoft Qubac gets a chance to make an AC they never fail to disappoint us. I'm now only looking forward to see what the Ubisoft Bordeaux has for us no matter what other says but mirage was W.
Social stealth didn’t even make sense in the games. I’m happy it’s gone. Random civilians without weapons, walking into a prison with an assassin, wielding a sword. It was unrealistic and I didn’t use it unless I had to.
It seems they’re doing what I thought they would with two different characters. One is for the fans of the franchise that enjoy stealth gameplay, and the other is for the fans that prefer the gameplay offered by later installments like Valhalla. Trying to make both basic types of players happy. It’s both a good thing and a bad thing. While it offers the chance for two different styles of gameplay, it makes me wonder if they focused on one kind if they would have had more time to make it an overall better game.
I think social is quite an overrated mechanic. I mean, it makes sense in urban, city-based games like Brotherhood and Unity. But in the big open-world RPG games? Where cities are 10% (or lower) of the entire map? I don't see the point. Plus, social stealth must make sense with the protagonist's attire and overall appearance. It can't be shoehorned in each and every setting.
As a long time AC fan I can understand you prefer social stealth. Just wanna bring out a counter point tho, it makes sense for social stealth in AC1 and liberation (maybe even unity). How realistic is with other characters that carry big weapons + weapon belts tho? For shadow, I feel like it’s impossible to blend in as a samurai character, or a woman with weapons and black robe. They just don’t look like average civilians.. so maybe the developer decide to forgo that mechanism in general
Social stealth wouldn't make sense when Yusuke and Naoe clearly stand out among civilians with their armor/weapon on their backs. Maybe if they can change their appearance like putting on a straw hat and cloak.
Funny thing is actual ninja will disguise themself to approach the target wether on spying or assassination so it's just hillarious if there's no social stealth like their outfit without the hood is useable to disguise as a mere peasant already
Yasuke’s one dimensional style is what they wanted for Eivor as a Viking but forced Eivor to be a… stealthy Viking😐😂 so I think Yasuke being one dimensional is better for overall character building
Im not very upset over this since I didnt use it. But I think the big reason its not back is because of the same reason it wasnt for Origins. Because they were working with a new engine and couldnt get it to work. Ultimately what Ubisoft as a publisher (not the individual dev teams) needs to do is to take another big step back and reassess. They have two studios working on two games in the same franchise with what seems to be little to no communication or cohesion. Im curious to know how much involvement Montreal had with Quebec in improving the AC engine or if they're meant to just pick it up and use it once Quebec was done with it. Seems weird that they cant figure it out together. Also Ubisoft needs to get Ubi Sofia back in an AC game proper. The fact that they've been relegated to nothing but DLC for the franchise is criminal considering what they accomplished with Liberation.
They should give Naoe servant & guard disguises if they won't create social stealth. And when it's dark she can use the shadows like splinter cell. That would be a good workaround.
Honestly it kinda makes sense for Yasuke to not be able to do stealth and for no social stealth to be in the game. It might be ideal for an AC game but it would conflict with the characters as a whole. If Yasuke could do good stealth, people would just complain that's it's too similar to Naoe and we'll have the Syndicate argument that they're the same and are not different. Also, Naoe might be an assassin but she's a freaking ninja. Ninjas don't hide among people, they hide in the shadows which what what Naoe specializes in. I harldy think Naoe will mostly travel on groud for her to do social stealth. Besides, the tenets havent been set in stone for a while, so what they meant back in AC1 is probably different from now in the game.
They really forced the issue didn’t they? Play as a samurai who isn’t stealthy at all or play as the female character. They checked off two boxes. Congrats I guess.
Its hella wierd to get rid of socialstealth in a game about ninjas since they where quite litterally using it irl when they existed. Its the perfect time to have a system like this.
I'm an old school AC player too, so I see these as stealth games, but we have to remember that a portion of the newer audience doesn't recognize the inherent stealth nature of the series. It's entirely possible to play Valhalla and Odyssey as a brawler, and while stealth existed even there, it could be used minimally. I suspect Yasuke exists to appease this portion of the playerbase. I think the only reason we have two protagonists is the aforementioned fear of alienating non-stealth players, and the general discomfort Ubisoft has always shown towards having a single female protagonist. You're likely aware this has plagued the series since Origins, where Aya / Amunet was originally intended to be the core playable character, and this fear prevented that. Founded or not, there is a pervasive fear in this industry with forcing male players into the role of female protagonists. Misguided, imho. p.s. in this very video you say Bayek had yet to create the brotherhood - he never did, Aya did.
"Honourable samurai"... then proceeds to step on a guy's head and crush it after he kills him, then decapitates the target later on... giving further proof that they didn't actually research Japanese history and culture.
There was a legal authorization that allows samurai to do that to people who disrespects him. Kiri-sute gomen. That show Shogun that was airing recently that takes place quite closely to this period has a beheading of a random person scene right at the beginning.
What a surprise Ubisoft once again takes one step forward and then takes five steps back, especially when it comes to the very purpose of assassins creed this RPG direction has got to go
Whats wrong with shadows? It offers two characters for different gameplay styles from what we see a beautiful world that not too big and will expand with later dlc and better stealth and animations for freerunning then the past games. So what's the issue with the game?
I hope the writing is atleast decent, idk what the hell happened to Ubisoft writing

That would ruin the Jewish propaganda.

If Naoe didn't have the sword but just 2 daggers it would be so much easier to conceal indeed.
From this quote "Naoe is invisible by default for NPCs in the open-world - Yasuke is impossible to blend in unoticed.”
I read it as Naoe having permanent social stealth and is only noticeable when doing illegal stuff.
@@adamibnal-alam8917 I hate the RPG elements in AC games, but even I agree that this would be a better idea than two characters!

And since stealth seems like less of a priority in the RPG games, they wanted a character that felt like both playstyles
Take that opinion with a grain of salt. I haven't actually played any game newer than blackflag yet, I am an old fan that dropped the series and am just now catching up. I am playing rouge for the first time now :) I just wanted to say that lol
I’m not please cuz they limit yasuke parkour 🤦🏽♂️
I'm actually one of the very few excited for this game 😂
Its a simple logic, one that the devs doesn't have while making this game.
still wont beat ghost of tsushima
I don’t think that’s the point
Oh you will see,
This game is gonna be hot garbage.
Of course not, AC shadows is an attempt clone of Ghost of Tsushima
It won’t even beat rise of the ronin
10:05 I agree with you, but this is very “on brand” for Ubisoft.
Because they make so many games so often, they have a terrible habit of removing things that don’t work instead of trying to fix and reimplement them. It’s the same reason parkour has gotten more automated - it’s easier to water it down than to make it work for everyone.
It’s more efficient from a business POV, but sucks for players that would’ve liked to see an imperfect system improved.
its sad because what we want is so easy to execute, but they manage to go off course entirely with the games they release.
Me trying be sneaky with yasuke and he yells ima be laughing 😂
Am I the only one that loves that the shindig girl holds out her hidden blade before you even decide to assign ate the enemy
I feel everyone will play as naoe because she has so many options like you can fight if you want to but you can just ghost everyone if you want
A lot of people want a hack and slash game, but I did see a pole somewhere that had like 80% people saying they were going to main Naoe.
I'd definitely play as both. Having standoffs in Ghost of Tsushima was very fun.
Yea now that I think about Noaa is gonna be the only character people will be playing as and once they level and learn how to fight well then no one will play as Yasuke a lot
You're underestimating how many people don't have the patience or desire to play stealth. Lots of people just want to fight and kill.
While I do appreciate that Yasuke is build to play combat on occasion as stealth doesn’t always satisfy me, it would be so much better if they gave him a basic functional stealth but it sounds like he can’t even stealth properly bruh. love the Liberation mention of its system
thanks for the information idc bout what ppl think an ac with ninjas is what i wanted since a kid playing ezio so i just hope they deliver
There’s a lot more to it than just stealth.. Yasuke is a historical character, I think it’s cool. It’s like the best of both worlds. You do get to choose who you want to play as. I’m ready for the game!
If you want a medium that respects Janapese culture, watch Shogun or just play Ghost of Tsushima again.
What's Janapese?
Lets be real black samurai who is like atleast head height taller than anyone else is kinda hard to use social stealth and blend in... same goes with hooded female that carrys arsenal of weapons 🤷
I feel like yasuke would be important for boss battles. She’d be more glass cannon type
It makes sense why he can't use social stealth... It doesn't make sense why he doesn't have fleshed out stealth as a whole.
The persona system of Liberation would have been perfect for this game. Imagine Naoe infiltrating imperial palace disguised as a servant or a geisha.
Watching the combat gameplay reminds me how good the combat is in Ghost of Tsushima
Except that most of the time, people like Yasuke tend to go upfront. I mean all medieval soldiers in general
I think splitting the approach between all combat or all stealth is great. Best of both worlds for those that do not want to use both sides
social stealth didn't make much sense to begin with, just some random dude in robes armed to the teeth just casually chilling with regular people was somehow invisible.

Why can't Naoe conceal her weapons like Jacob/Evie in Syndicate... ?
Who isn’t disappointed by this dumpster fire. This game is woke trash
Facts
They should just remove Yasuke
Remove both and replace with real historical ninjas. Samurai don’t do stealth
@@marcduchamp5512 Nah, I want to play as Naoe. Besides what do you mean by "Samurai don’t do stealth" she's not a Samurai.
With Naoe you can do social stealth, but how can you do social stealth in feudal Japan, when and where you are the only one who is not Asian?
When a new Assassin's Creed game comes out, fans always say: 'Ew, this game is trash.'
Six years later: 'Wow, this game is so underrated.'"
Im still waiting to say that for origins. Its not working bro.
that only applies when the game itself is good but just not polished. Unity at launch was a buggy mess but the game itself is a masterpiece especially when it comes to free style parkour. Meanwhile Syndicate and Odyssey are hardly mentioned because they became average product with little to no distinct features
@NiceGuy69-b2y Many people have low standards. I do like Bayek though.
Why is everyone mad ac shadows 😅looks so cool 😅
For social stealth the settings need to have logical crowd. Crowd who has activities, errands etc. Also considering Naoe, social stealth seems unnecessary as she is by default in stealth mode and short height person / not an individual to attract chaos. Her every move is stealthy I think it won't be in this setting. Social stealth should be implemented in settings like, Baghdad, India, Italy, China etc.
“the parkour will be super limited with him”
to be fair, the parkour is already super limited with the actual assassin character anyway, so will it really make a difference?
I still don’t like it they could done something different to set them apart
I never used social stealth unless it was a part of a mission and I was forced too.
@@HahahMamaman im not talking about social stealth
Unfortunately, Ubisoft Quebec are now the main studio in charge of the Assassin's Creed series.
Ubisoft Quebec didn’t disappoint with odyssey, at least not for me
@@lukethelegend9705 this is satire right?
Don't worry. We're not buying this game
AC is a mixed bag at this point. I’ll wait a year until the reviews are out and it’s discounted.
I think it might be a theme-specific choice for the devs so I don't really take issue with their choice. But of course we have to wait and see!
Cant wait... Im going to play as Jin Sakai 😁
@NiceGuy69-b2y Nope, not wrong game ... Think about what ive said
Damn you now I want to play through ghost of Tsushima again
@@OgblookTheWise Im playing through Directors on PS5.. its amazing .. get to it... Samurai 😁👍
Game's not historically or culturally accurate.
I’m playing as Naoe but ignoring the stealth mechanics just running in kunai blazing
I will die on this hill: Yasuke and Naoe are Izanagi and Izanami reincarnated. Just. You. Fucking. Watch.
They really forced the issue didn’t they? Play as a samurai who isn’t stealthy at all or play as the female character. They checked off two boxes. Congrats I guess.
What's wrong with playing as a female character?
What is wrong with playing as a female character?
Imagine hating a character for being female 😭
WE WANT STEALTHY MEN!!
They didn't think it through.
They both did
i dunno but i really like it to switch characters and choose if i want a big samurai or a sneeky assassin!
Very cool.
Samurais often were not as honorable and chivalrous as you believe, my man. Stop watching so many movies and actually do your research.
2:00 why not? It's not about of usefulness, it's about playstyle. I wasn't always the ghost in Ghost of Tsushima. Sometimes you just want to fight.
What a surprise
Ubisoft once again takes one step forward and then takes five steps back, especially when it comes to the very purpose of assassins creed
this RPG direction has got to go
It is the Ubisoft Quebec special.
How is it five steps backwards?
After seeing these disappointing news and shadows all around my respect for AC Mirage has increased
Whats wrong with shadows? It offers two characters for different gameplay styles from what we see a beautiful world that not too big and will expand with later dlc and better stealth and animations for freerunning then the past games. So what's the issue with the game?
