Lyrics:
I could feel the breeze blowing chance
Blowing through my doorway
Warm and restless just as you walked by
Inside of smoky halls a circle drawn
And voices call
To raise some magic wind in my world
Strange coincidence each time you look my way
This sinking feeling scares me
Know my weakness call it dejavu
Never puy my trust in fate suprises do arrive so late
Why should I be surprised by you
Straight to the heart straight for this precious shining
How do you dare step into my flame
One from the heart, one for this precious shining
How can you steel my flame
Sometimes cards are drawn and the tables turn
The waiting game is over
Take this dealers hand and steal away the dawn
Don't give me any chance to wander back from this innocence
Don't give me any chances at all
The “John Taylor Contract Cameo” was quite brilliant…..
LMAOO
Yeah it's a really cute part of the video 😊
Duran Duran are one of the very best bands of all time. Unfortunately their work wasn't rated as it should have been. Many considered them one of those glamorous 80ies bands, some kind of boy band ante litteram, but they were and are great musicians and artists.
Totally agree with you
Yess
Facts!
100% right.
Amazing artists,indeed a shame....
Simon is so talented, such a good actor. And that cameo of John is everything!!😍😍😍
It was a crossover between Arcadia and The Power station lol
J.T.'s eyebrows... hahaha.........
@@johnsimonaguiar4376LOL. This video was like a prequel of what was left of Duran Duran (for the time being, of course).
I thought Simon WAS John at first. With the glasses on he really looked like him.
@@creatrixincNoooooo!!
... "TO BE CONTINUED" I'm still waiting another masterpiece like this 🥰
Waiting too...
To Be Continued --------->
Absolutely criminal how this wasn't a massive chart success.
To this day, Arcadia's "So Red the Rose" is pure ear candy! I mean, are you listening to all that's going on? It is pure inspiration on a sonic level! And, remember, most of what you're hearing is Nick Rhodes unchained. Credit where credit is due!
35 years later I am still listening...
@@MrSwinefuzz Of course, it's a great, great album!!!
It really is Duran Duran’s fourth album.
He is rather good...
As someone mentioned previously in these comments, "it was the best album Duran Duran never made".
did anybody notice, how good is Simon at acting? ..and ,by the way,his vocal performance on this one is just crystalline beautiful, not many could sing such register that good
He is talented. He studied acting, I think..
He studied acting when he was a kid
Real actor
He was in a UK advert for Persil (washing powder) in 1964.
He did study Drama before joining Duran
One of the best albums ever made
I'm crazy about this whole album. I wish Arcadia would have done more.
I wore this album out on the old cassette tape. Just wore it down until it broke....
Me toooooo! I still listen to the album 35+ years later.
I think later on in life I heard arcadia 2
It’s basically Duran Duran minus the Taylor’s
Is there another album? I only have the first
Simon is absolutely adorkable in this!
That's so true.
He makes a really adorable dork / nerd. 🤭
No offense intended.
🤓
No matter how hard they try to make him nerdy, he is still so handsome
*This* *not* *song* *.....*
*This* *is* *timeless* *masterpiece*
After all theses years, i still remember all the words...and the cameo of John when he was still with The Power Station..i remember how excited I was when first saw it 😁😁😁🥰🥰
Me too! I was so excited to see John in this video! I was in 7th grade when this album was released. My dad got the cassette for me for Christmas and it was the best gift ever!!
This album has been said to be ahead of its time many, many times.
Nick Rhodes ,in his prime, in a class all his own
I liked seeing John do a cameo pop in. It gave me hope that they would get back together and in 86 they kinda rejoined mi us and and Roger for notorious
True, it really was a great cameo.
Made the video better.
Simon was great as a dork/nerd.
Nick was great as a diabolical debonair.
Simon ,Nick and John are good actors
I won the vinyl album on a radio station for being the 10th caller one time when I was a teen. Played it over and over and over. Still have it all these years later. A masterpiece!
I've never seen this. What a treat! I watched it over and over.
The video gives me vibes of a mix of Rocky Horror Picture Show and Hotel California (the song, not vid). I love the cameo by John. Especially since at the time, nobody knew that DD would get back together. I love that Simon changed his voice tone a bit, to distinguish from DD. And no matter how nerdy they try to make Simon look, he still looks so handsome. Nick looks fantastic, more striking than ever. Gonna watch again!
Yes!!! I have never seen it before either, but I agree Simon is so handsome and also I thought the same -Rocky horror vibes definitely!
Simon does geek chic too perfectly...my poor heart! And I love John's cameo at 2:30 :)
So Red the Rose is the most underrated album ever
The video took inspiration from an old movie...JT played the role of a Devil who wanted Simon and his wife to buy that enchanted/haunted house, Nick played an Angel who wanted to save Simon from the danger.
Haha Who’d of thought JT was naughty? Lol
One of my favourite songs! and the incredible Grace Jones making the Spanish voice cameo! :)
Grace Jones did cameo in Election Day, not here i think
This is indeed not Grace Jones speaking in Spanish on this track.
Show's what a brilliant actor Simon is! He should do more! And So Red the Rose is the most underrated album of all time!
Makes wonder why he never went into acting. He does excellent voiceovers. Although, he would’ve also done well in the acting profession.
@@rayva1 I am a real and true Durannie from the 80’s and I never saw this. Simon looks so gorgeous and funny here, and should have been in films!
Jim’s missing appendix I read a little into his bio. He actually did study Drama at the University of Birmingham back in ‘78.
@@rayva1 yeah, I seem to remember his being a young actor...
@@rayva1 It makes me sad that he didn't pursue it on the side or didn't get offers. John acted a few times.
screenwriter: "Ok Simon, what exactly meaning of the story you want? Fantasy? Mistery? Dark? Spy story?"
Simon Le BOn: "Yes."
God I love this video. Frickin amazing. John is like "Are you SURE you want me to come back for Notorious?"
Nick won best hair for the entire Arcadia era out of the guys. From his look in 'Election day' and his swept back long blonde hair in this.
John's hair is my fav.
He was gorgeous.
@@cornflakegirl1718 Both.
@@resa.walters No doubt about it! John's beauty was out of this world 😍😍🤣
Simon looked gorgous too, but nick.....the man has always had style, I love it, he's not much different now and he still pulls of animal print 💋💋💋💋💋
I was a huge DD fan, but I think I loved (love 🙂) Arcadia even more
Simon infamously called this album the most pretentious Duran Duran album ever recorded, lol. I get what he was saying, but it's brilliant.
I really love these guys (JT included) more than I should🤣😂😍🥰
One of the most underrated albums ever! I had So Red The Rose on massive repeat when it was released.
Love that Nick plays the beautiful villian!!
The atmosphere of this song is incredible! Simon's double track vocals are hypnotic and production outstanding! I played the song so much in 85-86. Arcadia forever!
Always loved Simon's voice sounds in Arcadia♥️
Nick Rhodes is so elegant! 💓
His face is a work of art!
Gorgeous ❤
So handsome in this video
years later and I’m still waiting for it to be continued !😝
Annette Pickard This was one of our late dad favorites we as a family wanted a sequel.
The expression on Simon's face when he looks back while swinging cracks me up every time!
Russell Mulcahy was the perfect director for Duran Duran´s video concept - He new exactly what should and what not to be in DD videos to form the perfect atmosphere. A visionary that ennanced greatly all the Duran Duran´s magic.
Yes, the fun, the comedy, the satire and the glamour accompanying their classy image
Yes! So perfectly said.
Russel Mulcahy was absolutely perfect for them. All of their videos were meant to be short films and he definitely vibed so well with their visions and ideas.
The world needs a new Arcadia album, stat!
🎉🎉🎉wow wow wow just epic brilliant fantasic awesome amazing Simon Lebon 🎉🎉🎉say no more just epic 🎉🎉🎉 video is totally brilliant fantasic 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Simon at is best as always 🎉🎉🎉
I love this video! It’s like Rocky Horror!
I'm surprised more people don't get that.
Exactly what I thought. In an alternate world Brad and Janet take the other road and find the dashing Nick Rhodes instead of a seductive Tim Curry.
'The Flame' is the greatest song they ever wrote!
This was a masterpiece of an album!!!👍😁
I STILL have my cassette after all these years...LOVE ARCADIA!!
One of the best videos from any of those guys. Such fun with geeky Simon and exasperated Nick. The slap at the end makes me laugh every time!
Perfect album. Legends producing, kismet iconic guest vocals. The boys set free to be as artsy as they wanted. So glad Arcadia got to happen
Duran Duran is the top number one Flashbackable memories of history and now God bless the Duran Duran
Loved this video Nick had a good time it.looks like he was smiling like crazy.
Maybe he enjoyed being a gangster, or a bad guy? 🤔
Call him the puppet master (no offense)
Him being in control with that remote.
But them all falling down, dead?
Nick being evil?
No way.
Only for show.
He is giggling madly seeing John in the closet 😀😀
What a magical voice Simon had back then. Duranies Alert: Rock In Rio /Lisbon - June, 27 2020
One of the best videos from the 80s, hands down!
2:30 la magistral y breve aparición de John Taylor
Duran Duran is the ultimate and the legendary old or new they still got it
I listened to this over and over, even making up videos to this song in my own imagination
I’ve always loved this video with goofy Simon and his oversized suit. And the smack at the end. It says “to be continued” but we never got the continuation.
I wish duran duran could write songs like this
There are so many great 80s New Wave albums. This is one of them.
Nick looked SO FINE in this video!!!!!! This is my favorite song from the album.
One of the great songs from the 'So Red the Rose' album, one of the great album ever.
One of my most favorite LOUD "through headphones on repeat" songs of ALL time!
The slap at the end was hysterical!
Such a great song, and I love the comedy! John, the slap, so great!
Simon on that bloody rope and the look on his face 😂😂😂 as he’s heading for the plate glass window 😂😂😂😂
I love how Simon plays the geek. When in real life he's one hot man!
Nick looking as classy and beautiful as ever.❤
Something brought me back here ........ to my twenties ......... and I’d forgotten how good it was. This ...... and PowerStation of course :-)
I love this song. Arcadia's So Red The Rose was a great and underrated album!! I love this video and John Taylor's cameo...so fun and campy!! 💜💜
Lured my teenaged niece to watch this video with the promise that she would be seeing clueless Harry Potter going in the Malfoy manor, and being subtly saved by Draco. It worked! hahahahahahaha
LMAO 🤣
This was on of my favorite Arcadia videos
So red the Rose was and is great to listen to🥰🥰
Simon looks amazing playing a nerd!!💝
Another fantastic track from an under appreciated album.
It's nice to see a clear version of this video! I actually wore out my cassette tape of So red the rose. Still a great listen all these years
I loved. Simon is a great actor 😅😅
Simon and Nick are GODS! 🔥
So funny, nice and amazing, Simon good actor and Nick always cute ! Fantastic !
Some of the best 80s music ever made.
I still get a gooshy feeling remembering John popping out of the armoire. It was such a TREAT seeing his cameo!❤️
Oh what a Great Song!!And video is awesome!I looove Simon's acting, something really different from his usual performances! And showing of John Taylor is perfect!!I looove it!!!
Very nice song and video! Simon le Bon has a wonderful voice! 👏
Wow! I really love singing this song and performing it on my clarinet 😄 The part with Mr. John Taylor coming out of there with that contract is really cute and funny, when Mr. Le Bon's face went into the soup though, I thought, Wow! Mr. Rhodes had a good instinct there that a knife was going to come flying towards Mr. Le Bon.
Arcadia was the best! Would love to see them bring it back with all those fun goth looks
This is my first time watching this! I loved it. Simon was the perfect “Brad Majors” type character. John’s cameo, dreamy! Nick’s ornery smile shows he was enjoying himself. But, where’s Roger?
I LOVE nerdy Simon! 💗💗
The voice of Simon .... 🙏👏👏👏👏🙏
When this video came out with John popping up proved that Duran Duran were over their "separation" period. All D2 fans REJOICED! Awesome! Although The Power Station was super cool, my alliance in this period was with ARCADIA!
Yes I saw cute John 😍
What a funny movie like song 😂👌 Luv it creative and talented guys
I loved both side projects.
John appearing is so Great 😎 I loved both side projects ❤️😎
Yes & it’s interesting that he’s happily holding a contract!
One of my favorite songs ever as you can tell by my online name. Never get tired of watching the video...Simon's acting on it is so funny and cute! 😅 I used to have a bad vhs copy of the making of this video and the other Arcadia videos.
ein super Song von Simon, Nick & Roger. Klasse Video
Rock N Roll Hall of fame inductees ❤️❤️❤️
Nick really had much fun in this video LOLL. Especially when he got Simon's face in the cake and giggling at John
My fav song from Acardia, LOVE THIS SO MUCH
Video simpatico e carino. Canzone molto bella! Bravi attori!
Simon Le Bon makes his acting debut as a nerd!!! Good job!
So exciting and envolving💃🏼🕺🏻🎶🎼🍷🔥📻 ❤
One of the best video's Duran Duran never made
I still have this record album all in pristine condition.
I really love Simon here. What a silly boy 😂
Perfect blend !
So Red the Rose - it cant get better than this
Simplemente los amo por mas que pase el tiempo estan igual lo mejor de lo mejor para duran duran divinosssss alicia de argentina
Great song, hilarious video.
This is the best record Duran never made 😀. I still love this album and listen to it often.
i love how john appeared when the band had broken up
They where just taken a break, they were still friends and always gona be back arcadia and the power station where just side projects.
@@dublingirl6945 yeah I know. I just liked how they still included him even though they were doing their own thing
They simply took a haitus, but yes, some of us duranies were worried that it might be awhile until they finally regrouped.
Well, he did a video back then basically re-assurring us that DD was going to get back together, and going to do another album very soon.
It wasn't specifically to announce anything.
I think it was an interview, and the host/hostess asked him if they were broken up for good or not.
And he then explained that it was only for the solo projects.
If can find it, I'll link it here.
So yeah, maybe he made an appearance because he knew we were kinda worried about them separating.
Wow don't remember ever seeing this video.
Such a fun video
Fantastic! This could also be a James Bond Song!
Every Duran's (Arcadia's) song is a wonderful moment of our life
