@@MrDecom002 I'd say it was worth it, even the UBW route despite that getting a good anime adaptation that didn't feel rushed time wise, but then I was unemployed and single at the time so I had nothing but free time. I don't regret any of it (I actually went on to read Hollow Ataraxia, then Tsukihime which was amazing, then Kagetsu Tohya and Melty Blood the next year) and don't regret any of that time either.

They last long enough to have a friendship but a 5 day friendship is not enough to put precedence over someone he's been in love with for 2 years

In HF his body and mind were slowly going haywire and by the end he was more of a human procupine with protruding swords than a human. Even in UBW his condition became a minor version of this. And about the reinforcement magic... It is not expressly shown but that is actually how shirou can even keep up with heroic spirits in his fights. The one instance I do recall him mentioning using reinforcement on his body is during the nine lives blade works scene. Shirou is actually a tab bit better than even rin at reinforcement magic. One of the two things he excels at. The other being archery.

Absorbing Archer's skill doesn't mean his body becomes stronger. He is still human. He NEEDS reinforcement to make up the difference. Shirou is known to reinforce his eyesight to look far even before the holy grail war started. So it is not like he can't reinforce his body.
The opponent has to block,if he doesn't it will just do the projectile damage instead of the block break combo.The same goes with Archer's version of the move.This move is basically a low health finisher up close,since it's hard to dodge when too close and blocking will be a sure K.O hit.

Shirou kills Saber in HF. With no mercy. He chooses to save Sakura, and Saber Alter was in his way.
Shirou would have almost defeated Gilgamesh in Unlimited Bladeworks Series.
