From Micheal Palmer, for 2:1 syrup, use any container filled with any quantity of sugar. Mark the level of the sugar on your mixing container and add hot water up to the marked line. Mix until dissolved, as you mix the syrup level will fall. Add more water to bring the level back up to the marked line. For the 2:1 syrup, I strongly recommend a paint stirrer on a drill and mix for at least five minutes. Let it sit over night to verify that it is dissolved.
That is very good advice Lester and I love Michael Palmer. I used the drill in the past but I am always in too big a hurry now ! LOL It is important to get it mixed well, I agree.
