Atheists Have NO Answer For This 'Tough' Question

- Cliffe from 'give me an answer' posted a video recently called If there is no god, everything came from nothing. I thought the video would be more about where 'stuff' came from, but it turns out Cliffe can't really have an honest conversation... but what else would you expect from a street preacher?
So did everything come from nothing? or did something come from something? Plus other random things about god that this maybe atheist doesn't agree with.

A Christian died and went to Heaven to meet with God.
Christian: " _Lord, I stayed faithful my whole life, but I always wondered how you created the Universe_ "
God: " _Actually, I didn't. I just waited for a macroscopic fluctuation in the quantum field and swooped in and claimed credit for it_ "
Christian (troubled): " _That doesn't sound ethical_ "
God (sighing): " _You really DIDN'T read the Bible, did you_ ?"
The Christian then demands that the façade be lifted and the hellfire and brimstone brought out since they think they're obviously in Hell and they're talking to Satan.
God is later on sighing and talking to Satan about how that's like the billionth Christian this eternity to demand punishment instead of enjoying the pool and the buffet he laid out for everyone.
If God is warmth, then shouldn't Hell be cold?
Like fire and brimstone makes sense for eternal torment, but being really really hot kinda defeats the purpose of God being warmth.
It's weird, hell is a fairly recent concept. Before that purgatory was a thing, sinners would got somewhere to atone until they were worthy of heaven.
Of course that doesn't scare kids into religion hard enough, so hell was stolen from the Norse: a place of infinite darkness and loneliness. Gnashing teeth mentioned in the visions of hell used to be referring to the cold caused shivering.
Then of course that doesn't inspire the same horror as pain so it changed again. Instead of cold it was fire, instead of loneliness it was demons torturing people, instead of darkness it's horrible sights.
Yeah. The Bible seems to support worshiping Satan more than God.
God kills millions of people. Satan killed ten people... with God's permission!
God intentionally set up Adam and Eve to commit original sin with a lie and a temptation. The serpent just told the truth.
@@scragarI always thought Christianity stole the concept because too many of them were just killing themselves to be closer to god. So Hell was introduced to stop suicides basically.. in my head
I can't believe he posted this as though he had a point, that kid absolutely schooled him on every point.
This kid shows me that America is better off than I thought.
@@MrCanis4there's some bright kids out there. It's just that the old fogies hanging onto their mythology are so much louder and visible.
@@jameshall1300 Don't worry though, they only "hang" to it, because it gives them some leverage against minorities they don't like. I don't think they truly beliefe it ether, they just use it to rally those who (kind of) do belief into their camp.
They do when they think they won.
Or maybe he thinks his will say that he is such an intelligent child if only he was not an atheist
Kudos to the young person for doing a very good job of challenging the street preacher. Usually the preachers don't let these challenges show up in their videos...
That was exactly what I was thinking
Best way: You believe everything in the bible is true? If affirmed, then you are okay with incest, are you? Good to know, i'll walk away now. If denied, then why would i care about it's contents? I'll be on my way now.
Right? A commendable job, at an impromptu encounter, against someone with decades of scripted practice.
That's because Cliff thinks this was hit over the wall for a slam dunk for him and his camp.
The preacher doesn't realise how good this young person debunked his fallacies.
Glad to know apologists will never change their script of fallacious talking points.
Always the same
For whatever reason, this reminds me of a famously idiotic quote from Bill O'Reilly in a conversation with a scientist (I think?)...
"Tide comes in, tide goes out. You can't explain that."
😂
@@FakingANerve He was talking to David Silverman, (a name we shall not name) at the time, not a scientist.
@@BlasterMaster80 You don't have to be a scientist to be able to explain the tides. Just not a flerf.

When Cliffe said "The more I study science...", I fell of my chair laughing.
I spilled coffee there.
A kid being able to crush a professional apologist - that means something.
I don't know what that means but it definitely means something.
@@GameTimeWhy I know you joke, but it means that the "arguments" of a professional apologist are so weak and the inventory is so small, just a handful of slogans repeated again and again,
that even 16-year-olds (that have usually other interests) have the fitting counterarguments available.
That is NOT trivial, as the whole is practically completely a game with semantics and rhethorics, appeals to emotions, appealing to hidden fears.
To go against that is tricky, because you have to quickly identify the trick that is used and call that out explicitly.
@@feedingravens yeah it was joking. The apologist should feel bad about wasting his entire life.
Imagine a clown talking to you in a condescending tone and you've got Cliffe
He sounds like Dr Josh Bowen doing a Kent hovind impression
I love how he keeps talking about slapping the kid, because I bet that's what he absolutely wanted to do at that exact moment because the kid was absolutely destroying him 😂
“Before the Big Bang there was a singularity that came from somewhere.”
“Aaaaaa. Nope. Can’t hear you. Aaaaaa. There was nothing. Nyah nyah.”
That moment is proof he’s a conman.
I'm still waiting for a Christian to explain to me what materials god used to create the universe if something can't be created out of nothing
I'm betting on shit because everything is shitty and everybody is acting shitty 😂
They never do, they never will, they have no answer.
Oh, it's OK for their God to poof things into existence, just no one else can claim that.
@@thefuzzman, who/what poofed god into existence?
@@rickn8or The Almighty God-Poofer! Praise our God-Poofer dammit!! Or he'll smite you with wet noodles!!
Someone needs to tell that clown that there are people who hear colors. It's called synesthesia.
There isn't even a need for that. It's a matter of representation - a colour is a frequency, and we _can_ simply shift that into the audible spectrum if we want. It's easier to see tones for example (just the wave function), but sight and sound can very easily be translated into each other (I guess touch for example would be a bit harder and less intuitive, but I'm sure I could come up with something even for that...)
But yeah, synethesia is such an interesting and weird thing... And a lot of good artists apparently had/have _some_ form of it, especially poets ☺
You can actually see Middle C, on a frequency graph
I am proud of that kid.
Me too. Now we need to find this kid!
I'm surprised that he didn't edit the kid's arguments as apologists usually do
I honestly don't think he understands what happened. He thought he was on point with strong arguments, not getting completely wrecked.
I love how almost all Cliffe or Stuart do is gish gallop dip and dodge like they shared a surname with a fake dino dr.
Also toss some word salad and jump to the next topic before you can collect your wits.
Jeeze, talking to christians is so exhausting! This is exactly why I don't engage, because I'd get way too frustrated by their circular logic and bad faith arguments. These people have so much strength to be able to argue this for that long and I'm in awe of anyone who can.
Same here
At 12:32, after the young guy said that translating into other languages leads to differences between bibles, so none can be relied on as an accurate source, the religious guy said something like:
'Yes, and in the early days, there were over 25,000 copies of the bible, in multiple languages, with EACH AGREEING TO AN INFINTESIMAL DEGREE'.
This is exactly the opposite to what the young guy said, but the religious guy replied as if the young guy's statement confirms the accuracy of the bible.
Watching it on video, where we can pause and replay, means it's relatively easy to pick up on illogical things like this, but it's much harder when the speaker is doing a live patter, and moving on before you have an opportunity to interject.
You fell for his trick. He didn't say thousands of *bibles,* rather thousands of manuscripts. Many "manuscripts" are fragments the size of a postage stamp. Most are less than a full page. There's only a handful of "complete" bibles (which don't even all have the same set of books in them).
Pretty slack-ass deity that would let something like that happen to their divinely-inspired-literal-and-inerrant operating manual.
@@rickn8or It would have to be a blithering idiot of a deity to allow anything like the torah, bible, qur'an, etc, be put out in its name, unless it simply didn't care, or was simply curious as to see what bullshit humans would eat up.

I just ignore these street apologists. I've heard all this before, and it's been debunked so many times. Why do they bother?
Because they always think they have something new
They are in pursuit of pieces of paper with the drawings of dead people on them.
Because there are people who are uninformed and easily influenced.
You (and I, and others in these comments) are the kind of person who watches skeptics going up against preachers, so we've heard all this before. But, others who haven't thought much about it could be suckered in by what seems reasonable on the surface.
Honestly with a well informed Atheist these street apologists are going to have much better luck converting a pickle back into a cucumber than an Atheist, mean while they do provide a almost endless stream of content for Atheist content creators.
The apologist thought he had an easy target. Kudos to the young man.
With that amount of deflective power he could be a professional tennis player.
Great questions then the dodging begins. You know the apologist dodger was destroyed when only about twenty questions was thrown at him but he was hit 50 times. 🤣

Bro you’re supposed to be a college kid to debate against Cliffe. Otherwise it wouldn’t be fair.
That’s funny!

Q:"Is it more reasonable to believe (a) or to believe (b)?"
A:"It is entirely unreasonable to believe either (a) or (b) in the absence of sufficient evidence, the reasonable response would be "I don't know."
The corollary, of course, is "I don't know, therefore I will not accept your claims at face value."
This is the basis of Agnostic Atheism, which is , in my humble opinion, the only "reasonable" response to the question of god(s).
So there's no assumptions here as long as we all start by assuming god exists. Got it XD
And that the universe had a beginning before the big bang and outside of our knowledge. But other than that no assumptions.
Oh, and god created the universe. But that's it. Nothing more.
He died for our sins though, but that's all the assumptions. It's minimal really.
He loves you? Not really an assumption if you count all the times he didn't give children cancer. And gaslighting us into being shit and deserving everything bad in the world is loving too right. Otherwise we can just assume that. WHat's one more assumption at this point. At least the god will seem slighlty less abusive this way.
Did I miss any assumptions? No, I'll be off then.

We atheists kept answering their weird questions like forever. Yet they never learn or ignore our answers on purpose. Even worse that they do not dare asking a scientist about science stuff. Why am I as an atheist a specific target for science related questions?
And that's part of the problem. When they ask us, we try to explain things, even though we all well know that they aren't really listening or trying to understand. They are just waiting for trigger words, that makes them think "i got you now", then start parroting a BS Response they learned from other religious.
They are the ones making a claim. We should be the ones asking them questions. "Who created God", and don't let them off the hook until they explain it.
Scientists are smart enough to ignore such people. We are not
The initial question is so close to how we got gods and religion in the first place.
_Missed it by that much._ 👌
This person in the doc martens is awesome! They make so many awesome points, with good humour and respect.
My internet hero of today!!!! ❤
Matt Dillahunty destroyed all the "points" Cliffe brought up here in his recent debate with him. I see he is incapable of learning actual science or addressing the actual refutations.
Also incapable of intellectual honesty. He's just another liar for Jesus, morals and integrity be damned.
Man, I've never seen a theist post this much of an ass kicking on the internet. Maybe there is hope for the future if these young kids are prepared to go against indoctrination and dogma.
This guy tiptoed around each question that was thrown at him. So typical and sad. This is absolutely one of my most favorite channels to follow. Terribly entertaining every single time! Love you, man!
appreciate this!
I'm going to stick to one point ... @12:40 ... I'm tired of hearing about "25000 manuscripts". I've been to the Vatican and several museums and the vast majority of these "manuscripts" are fragments about the size of a postage stamp with, on average, one or two characters on each. Another thing is that many of these stamp sized scraps of parchment are too degraded to read or are in languages that nobody can translate because they've died out from lack of use.
There are hundreds of thousands of copies of The Eyre Affair, the first Thursday Next novel, and yet I possess a copy which contains mistakes.
It's confusing to me how egotistical and self hating Christianity is as a religion
One moment it's "You're a sinner by nature! Jesus died and it's your fault!"
And the next minute it's "You were made in his image (Definitely not the other way around!), You have intrinsic value as his creation! As a human you are a certified main character of the world!"
That young person did a fantastic job putting him in his place, all the guy did was deflect with no good answers to his challenges. He really just made himself look like a babbling fool.
For the free will argument, the question is, "Will there be free will in heaven?" If heaven has no free will, then that is either horrible because we lose what these theists claim is a valuable gift, or free will isn't necessary. If heaven has free will, then what's the point? There are some murderers and rapists that I am sure have genuinely repented, but if they retain their free will for all of eternity, they almost certainly try to murder or rape in heaven. That's not exactly the paradise they're trying to sell.
I always imagined if a heavenly sort of afterlife is real, then it wouldn't really get rid of our 'bad' emotions, it would just amp up all the Serotonin, Dopamine, Endorphins and Oxytocin in the air, making you less likely to feel those emotions, but still able to feel them
@@LOL-bs1hg Yeah. I've tried imagining all sorts of possibilities for this "afterlife," and no interpretation works well.
The first and foremost problem is "eternity." Anything that goes on for that long is bound to have problems - mainly because there is an infinite amount of time for those problems to occur.
Next, a component of the argument to support why evil exists in the world is that you cannot have good without evil. If we grant that assumption, then heaven cannot always be all good. Eventually, all concepts of evil as we know it will fade from existence. As it does, different gradients of "good" will start to be classified as evil under this "no good without evil" framework.
It seems that in heaven, happiness would be forced on us. I cannot wrap my mind around eternally praising even the most wonderful divine creator in all of existance. We don't want to eat, play video games, or enjoy any of the other things that make life wonderful because we don't get to choose what makes us happy. We just are happy - forced to be happy - like automotons? No thanks!
I could keep going, but - yeah - none of it makes much sense, even as we grant many assumptions.

And the fact that ALL of them have footnotes explaining either how there are different possible translations, or how the translations have changed with time.

I JUST GRADUATED FROM THERE OMG
Also known as 'I got out of there just in time!'
When this preacher begins a list of things that are impossible for God, he's admitting that God is subject to laws greater than God. Just like when apologists say God can only do things logically possible (laws of logic being man-made based on our limited perception and experience of this Universe). So God is also bound by logic. I wonder who or what was responsible for those boundaries that limit God?
I noticed the preacher often ignored points and sidestepped the questions posed by that intelligent member of the audience.

Almost everyone does not have the urge to kick a kitten, just like most people don't have the urge to cut off part of their new born baby boy's penis either. But with religion you get to do one of those options willingly and obediently. There's dozens of other examples in many other religions too.
04:04 It's kinda like he's about to draw a .357 magnum sized argument and he's got to plant his feet so his argument doesn't blow him over.
If I had to define Nothing I would say it has the following characteristics: timeless, spaceless and immaterial.
I'm liking the lunch analogy for "free will". If I know you're having a peanut butter sandwich for lunch tomorrow, how does free will fit in. I know what you're having and you can't change what I know. Your "decision" had already been made and you're just following along with that "destiny". And since God is all-knowing, knowing the past, present, and future, your "destiny" had already been made for you. So, no free will available.
Okay, what about people that dont have hands? Do they have less free will because they cant slap? And if they dont have less free will, then why cant God not put us all in a condition that doesnt allow for slapping people?

@kingalexandersgodshapedhol7514
Okay im not on a street but does a recliner work ?
I’m not sure how this works though, see I’ve got all the answers I need in the Bible, so I don’t have any questions lol
But I won’t hate your questions, if you ask, I can’t promise you will love my answers though.
I’ll tell you GOD is real I can’t scientifically prove it, but the evidence is pretty clear, currently we have more technology and comforts than we have ever had in the US but yet with all of that we are devolving as a society, and it’s been fairly gradual but like dominos everything is falling one after another, the reason ? We keep removing the teachings of the Bible from our lives you can point to any issue and the rca can be traced back to that, so if the power of the word of GOD can create and sustain a civilization, then I can only believe that the GOD is all powerful and all knowing and real.
If the best minds coming out of schools can’t even determine what the Bible and Biology have consensus on to be fact, then how the hell could a man or group of men devise a writing that can set-up civilizations and sustain ? We have to smarter we have knowledge they lack but yet there literature contains knowledge that surpasses ours how ?
Keep in mind dead see scrolls contain all of the biblical books and predate Christ by a estimated 250 years so it’s a very old book and are virtually the same as what we have today minus the addition of the New Testament.
I’ll also piggy back off the last statement, it’s very old but has remained intact, despite numerous civilizations and the Dead Sea scrolls aren’t even the oldest the silver scrolls are 600bc and contain the book of numbers, so the fact a text that was orally passed and then written has remained pretty much the same is a testament to his word, in of itself .
@@aaronstanley474 it is simply if all correct a testament that someone's words may be intact.
@kingalexandersgodshapedhole
Yeah but look out how many times our constitution has been amended in the last 250 years, the Old Testament is 10 times older and only been updated within the first 100 years of the AD, and that was when the New Testament was added. Not only was the words still intact but most of the common laws we have today and abide are rooted in the mosaic laws and the teachings of Christ, without it you would have Darwinism and eugenics as your only guide and that’s assuming we made it that far and didn’t kill each other off lol 😂
What would even be the purpose of lying, it’s not like the Roman and Greeks who worshipped completely different gods were going to be thrilled so if mass population control was the goal, the inventer had a very unobtainable goal in his lifetime. So maybe they were crazy ? Except it doesn’t sound crazy, and the insane typically don’t sustain a following for long. Also the teachings are of peace, even in judgment you are specifically told your battle is with principalities and powers not with flesh and blood.
@@aaronstanley474 did I say lies? However you do speak as if this is somehow special. Since you bring it up. Take a look at the dead sea scrolls again. There is much more there than just the gnostic books in the bible but also many gnostic writings that are not in this contrived list of books in the bible.

I mean Kudos to Cliffe for posting this, he got owned by high school/college kids.
More honest than Banana Man and his edited videos ...
i am tired of this point.....something from nothing is not a scientific but a religous claim without any proof.
Having nothing in one place is not possible in the universe. Imagine the universe as a water surface of an ocean. Matter is like big sploshes, and there are always waves everywhere, even when no big sploshes are happening.
People make NDE claims. These claims are unverifiable, and appear to depend upon the beliefs of those who claim to have had them. Cliffe has no supporting evidence for his own “god did it” assertion, and he has to admit that he can’t prove anything. Nothing that Cliffe claims is supported by evidence, yet he is still willing to fabricate reasons why his claims must be true. Christianity also imposes restrictions to free will, by asserting that there will be a punishment for making the wrong choices.
Even more interesting: NDEs also have more of a cultural interpretation. i.e. A Christian will usually see something different from a Buddhist.
@@darkfalcon7856 That would appear to be the case, with people 'seeing' what they expect to see according to their culture.
30:10 this guy has skirted around the answer to EVERY question he's been asked 😂
I love it when they cant answer without special pleading
This preacher is so unself-aware. Seriously one of the most annoying apologist out there. If he was political in some way Id accept his willful ignorance but hes just spittin' ignorance with every word for no other reason than to prove just how ignorant he is
The young guy made one massive mistake... trying to honestly debate a lier
Cliffe says in summary "We have humans rights cause of christianity" when the UN, the organism that made the international bill of human rights and its enforcer, is a secular organization, not to mention the document is also secular, as one of your human rights is freedom of religion, the right to practice any religion on the face of the earth as well as refuse to do so
The universe is so perfectly designed for us that almost everywhere in it would kill us immediately
Apologists will NEVER entertain the possibility their views are wrong. The price their sense of self would pay is intolerably hogh.
Especially not these preacher types whose income depends on it
Why does this evangelist move like a guy in a T-rex costume?
It's impossible for a all powerful God to exist and not exist at the same time... then God is not all powerful, all knowing and omnipotetent, the dude just disproved god himself, but keeps on blathering on about why you should believe in him
22:30 - Here comes the preacher's tag-team partner to come in and assert the existence of objective moral values by appealing to the subjective moral values of his undemonstrated god.
he didn't even answer many of their questions. Just dodging and manipulating.
Haha. This preacher: we did something good once. Therefore god. My god, specifically. Please ignore all the bad stuff we did and still do.
