- Explored this mansion a couple of years ago when it was officially abandoned. If you know its location please stay away as this mansion is now lived in with 24 hour CCTV

I’m so glad it’s being lived in now. It’s beautiful and surprisingly in great shape. What a fabulous show to watch it be brought back to life.
This place is gorgeous. I always wonder why a beautiful place such as this, that obviously lots of money was spent to build, is just left to rot. So sad. The daffodils blooming are beautiful and a wonderful sign spring is on the way.
The old stone walls and such allowed the damp to ruin everything. They probably either couldn't or didn't want to maintain it at the high cost to fix it.
Land tax probably drained the bank accounts of the owner finally handing over to government to pay off debts.
@@SiobhanChiffon I live in a house like this, you literally couldn't afford to build as well now. Where are you getting your ideas about 'old stone walls' from?

The reason was the location, which despite looking central on the map is an absolute pain in the neck. These houses were built by people who had made it to illustrate their distance from the public due to their industrial and business success. Prior to the deliberate suffocation of Scottish industry, there was a wealth of craft, architectural and engineering talent due to our diverse industries

That place is beautiful! But it’s also like a maze. Steps galore in there. There are still a few rooms that really need some help, but that takes time and money. Loved this video! Thank you, Alec.
Some beautiful features in there, especially the roof cornicing and stained glass, the fish stained glass in the bathroom was my favourite. You know, I've walked past all these big mansions all my life, wondering what they looked like inside and I feel like someone has just given me a magic key and suddenly I can go in them all 😃😍🥳 it's bloody brilliant 👏 👌
Loved all those wee staircases just going up to one room.
I'd need a sat nav to live in that house as I'd get lost every 5 minutes haha 😄
It's nice to know that it's now lived in and it was only 800k aswell, pretty cheap if you ask me, a bargain.

I just watched the video twice. My favorite rooms were photographs 2, 5, 7. Out of the staircases, it would the wood beam and iron design.. This mansion wowed me with every room. The bathrooms stain windows.. Photo #2 room with its, spectacular freaking ceiling.

It’s incredible that a beautiful mansion house is left abandoned and decaying like that. I hope that somehow it can be saved before it falls into ruin. A great explore .

Many years ago when I was a young mum with 4 kids, we discovered a house of similar era in rural outer Essex, much smaller than this but still a mini mansion, also neglected & empty - no sale sign, but we inquired & it was for sale for 12,000 British pounds - it was a bargain, 6 bedrooms & an acre of garden. We got all excited, spent a week or so dreaming about the fantastic prospect of taking it on, then slowly but surely came to our senses & admitted it was way too much house & even tho that sounds like not very much money now (a lot in 1966) it would have been a stretch, so we finally gave up the idea & licked our wounds ! I've always wondered what happened to that place, we never did go back & find it again !!! Since they are saying this place is now occupied, I hope it's people who will love it & fix all the damp & mold issues - beautiful old places need love !!!

That property is not derelict the grounds on the property is well maintained and there is things in the property that is for repairing it I hope you're aware if you enter a property in Scotland weather is open or not you can still be charged for breaking an entry and it will go on your record

Yes! An available window, already opened. No hassle entry easy peasy, no human or window frames harmed..😂🤣😆 Looking forward to this mansion, that looks absolutely beautifully stunning from the outside.

The rot sets in as soon as a roof needs repair, bringing mould and structural damage. Delightful formal rooms downstairs but the bedrooms were pokey upstairs - were there more that weren't shown? The tiled bathrooms were a real treat to see. Just lovely. An interesting historic rabbit warren that appears to have been built without much of a plan. Thank you so much for the tour.

Who owns this? Wonderful. Glad no one has caused any great harm yet. Glad people are back in and enjoying. Would take a large team months to restore all the issues. Most important is securing the roof from leaks.

What an absolute fabulous property with its period fixtures and fittings, but if its going to be left like it is with all the damp conditions it will decay fast.

Was once a beautiful home,
but nothing here to envy.
Most families that lived in homes such as these, have very sad endings. People don’t just decide to leave one day. Either the last family member dies, some reversal of fortune, unintended deaths ( sickness or murder) etc.
I know well, I’m living one of these endings and the pain never leaves. Never whole again, vapid, painful and empty.

One thing that you don't realise, as you go on exploring, is how fit it is keeping you without any effort, as the work you put in is only a means to an end. When you are an auld mannie you will be able to say " We must have been fit in those days ".
And to change the subject - nice dressed stone on that house - it is always a clue to look at the rock to try and work out where some of your explores are.

I remember my eyes being on the sub count watching it slowly but surely go up willing and waiting.must have been around the small 20s when I was lucky enough to find you.been about 4 years
But on my old phone once it got to (joined 1... year). It stayed at that for the next 3..
With the New phone and email!I had to re:Sub. I was hooked from the start it's been an absolute privilege as you've got better and better with your photography to the point where you're now a master of your artwork it's so spiritual

The areas that had celingd collapse, have had the plaster and debris cleaned up. I wish someone could restore it and maybe make it a hotel. I would fly across the "pond" to stay there. It is absolutely breathtaking.

Someone needs to get in there and restore n rescue before it ends up battered from the elements. Is there no one that you can contact and say pull your finger out of your **** and go fix this building;

Another great explore guys. Such a shame to see a beautiful house in such a state of decay when we have such a housing issue.
This house is like a puzzle with a lot of mismatching pieces. Easy to get lost in there. I can't help but wonder why these homes are not donated to the state? Or at least sold for salvage? The clawfoot tub, fireplace mantles and chandeliers could be reloved by someone.

Amazing mansion but it is not abandoned. You can clearly see that some rooms are cleaned and they will be restored soon and others just started to be cleaned. 😊 You were lucky the owner didn't appear while you were filming!
