That is one of the best places I have been. You can see photos but until you are actually there, looking up at that ship, you just don't get the true size. Many people on that ship when she heeled over, paid a high price for a king's vanity. The Danes had a "two story" ship and the Swedish King didn't want to be left behind and the Vasa was already half completed, so he just told them to add a second story. Well, of course the ship was very top heavy and they had all the cannon station doors open so when she heeled over water immediately rushed in and that was that. The Baltic is briny so the wood was amazingly well preserved for being on the bottom of the sea for 300 years. Anyway, if you ever get to Stockholm be sure to visit the museum.
the ship's hull was treated with preservation methods during the first decade after it had been taken out of the water. Aging has happened faster since then so they do everything to not expose it to light and the humidity must also be adjusted.
A lot of comments about it being too dark. I thought you filmed it well, very atmospheric and I could see everything perfectly clearly. I do watch your walks on my big TV so maybe its not so clear watching on a phone or tablet? When I visited I do remember it being brighter but you're right about light damaging the ship. Such an impressive vessel and not too dark for me!
Very cool to see the ship! Very interesting. I love museums. Thanks for bringing us in there. ♥️😊 I checked your link to the museum quick to see if you can listen in English. It looks like you can, cool, I’m excited to listen!
Hi Daniel. Thank you for this video! We had been planning to go to Stockholm on holiday in 2020, but due to Covid, that is on hold. I appreciate that you took us to the Vasa Museum for this wonderful tour. What you showed us starting at 23:45 was particularly impressive. We are hopeful to make it there on holiday maybe in this new year and see the ship up close. We also want to see the ABBA Museum. You videos walking around Stockholm have been both informative and a joy to watch. I wish you and your family a happy and prosperous 2022!! I will be watching your channel for sure! All the best. David
The Vasa Museum is deliberately kept quite dark. This is because organic materials can be broken down by high and intense light levels, especially light containing ultra-violet radiation (UV). Therefore the light levels in the museum are kept below 100 lux, daylight is not allowed to fall on the ship, and ultra-violet filters have been placed on all the windows.
This bought back such great memories of visiting here with my lovely Swedish friends a few years ago! There are some great museums in Stockholm. I remember visiting a brilliant photography museum near the Viking Terminal (can't remember the name) and Moderna Museet art museum on Skeppsholmen. Really enjoyed this visit to the Vasa Ship!
Must admit, I was a little apprehensive about museums, seen lots in the past in the UK. But this is amazing, I would certainly want to see this when in Stockholm now. Happy new year Daniel and thanks for the many interesting videos.
Min pappa var med när dom drog upp Vasa skeppet Han var Attack Dykare och var nere på botten och pluggade alla hålen innan dom kunde ta upp skeppet Så häftigt ❤

@Annica wowww!!!! A long way in my list! I need to really get fit to be able to see all those beauties! Till then me and my hubby will be waiting for your daily vlogs after work. Will also be waiting for your merch! More power to you.
When we walk and even when we were in Sollentuna Centrum, also in Mall of Scandinavia last night, we saw a guy with a boy having ice cream by Max.Husband said do u think that’s Daniel😂 then I told him, let’s meet him,and he says hmm we don’t want to disturb him🙈😁 Then goes home and he opens your channel and tells me ‘look, he went there yesterday…’ So I said, when we come back on summer, hopefully, I will gather my guts and we will have waffles and coffee together with u in Old Town or where your favorite coffee place😁✋🏻.Sorry, we are kinda ageing and shy fans! Nice walk video tour the vasa museum in Stockholm Sweden. 🇸🇪 Happy New Year's 🎉 🎇
Another year, another walk.
Hi i live in sweden , when i was in school we had a fieldtrip to Wasa and back then you were allowed to go onboard...that was so cool.
That is so cool , i had no idea that was allowed at all. When was that?

Nice! Lite av en dröm att kunna gå på det skeppet! Det fick vi inte göra när jag va där med min klass under 90-talet.
They keep the museum dark and cold to prevent biological organisms breaking down the ship.
Such an impressive ship! It's so weird that the museum was so dark. But its fun!

The darkness is to preseve the ship😉
I know. But on other videos from few yrs back it isn't even half as dark as it is now. Now its actually to dark to enjoy imo.

Its optional. The ones with masks are foreign tourists. Swedish people hardly wear masks.
@@letswalkaroundstockholm Thx. :-)

Nice :)
Vasa museum daar ben ik in 1978 geweest
Leuk! Ben benieuwd of het veel veranderd is.
The current museum was built in 1990.
Ik kan me dit gebouw ook niet herinneren wel dat het gebouw in model was van het schip
@@mellertid It was a simpler exhibition before that. Don't know whether it was always open for the public, but I visited too, as a kid in the 1970s.
Built by an immigrant Dutch!
Mmmm.. The Dutch was master ship builders.
Eigenlijk te donker om te filmen jammer.Dus gewoon er naar toe gaan.
CMOS Sensor and everything is bright and recognizable otherwise Daniel's camera is very good and I really enjoy watching his videos
