Back in my youth, this little girl sang out so loud on our AM radio in the Eastern Tennesee Mountains during my summer vacations! Well, I am still loveing that little girl with that biggest voice from the hills!
Even now, so many decades later.....when I listen to Brenda Lee & that signature raspy energy & swing she owned - that btw, paved the way for many styles to come, it (she) warms my heart & puts a humongous smile on my face. What a voice. God bless you Brenda ❤
I was 11 when she sang this on TV. I was in singalong heaven. Thanks, Ms. Lee for making it matter, singing it! Brenda had a little scar between her eyebrows..sometimes I saw it, sometimes not. It was not unsightly, it was part of her character...and while she was a powerhouse, it also made her so real.
best part I can tell them apart. Now my ultimate number one favorite is my beloved Dolly Parton. today I don't know who is singing they all sound alike
This was the flip side to her mega hit, I'm Sorry. It was marketed as the A side. She had just hit it big with "Sweet Nothin's" and they were going to follow it up with another upbeat song. But the DJ's started flipping the record and playing the ballad. What was unique is I'm Sorry went to #1 and stayed there several weeks at the same time this song went to the top ten, peaking at #6. She had TWO songs in the top ten on the same record!
That little gal can Go!!!!!!! Brenda is little Miss Dynamic... in every record she made!!!!!! Check Brenda out here on the UA-cam.. she is dancing and getting down with Clarence Clemons.. performing this same song.... go check that one out.. the women's got soul honey!!!!
Brenda was an early downsized female rocker, to be followed by downsized male rockers like Eric (the Animals) and Van (Them, from Belfast). All three must have faced at least some peer group pressure from ""the usual gang of idiots" (to borrow a phrase from Mad Magazines). Yet, their jeerers are now mostly dust, but Brenda, Eric, and Van rock on!~
