What I find amazing, is Gisele Pelicot has the attitude, I have always had. I have never understood why rape survivors feel shame and the actual criminal, the rapist, don't feel shame at all. It's bizarre. Even when there seems to be shame, it seems like every generation has to fight the same problem, over and over.
Look back growing up. How is this a core part of humanity ? how can we not see evil until we hurt ? Ask, who did pick you brain that way ? Many lives good life, away from evil. So it do not matter. They are winners
the wording is misleading. I speak French and am following the daily proceedings in court. She's given permission for the videos and photos to be shown in open court meaning that anyone in the courtroom and the room for the public may see them. Journalists can publish descriptions of them. Recording or photographing in the courtroom or the public room is absolutely forbidden and being controlled so there is not access to the recordings outside the moments that they are played in court.
This is just bizarre! How in the world is such a man, as her husband, created? Then how do you get 50 men that will rape an unconscious victim? It really makes me wonder about humanity at all.
What’s even more infuriating for me is the men that were propositioned to assault his wife, and declined to do so, but did not report the husband to police ? Like they didn’t think about the danger she was in, or the monster her husband was, they just walked away without saying anything.
The problem is pornography and the kinds of perversion that it creates and promotes. We have people being exposed to pornography as children and are addicted to it for decades. They end up doing heinous acts like this because regular porn won't satisfy their cravings anymore.
Actually there were more than 80 men but unfortunately only 50 were identified. And the even scariest part is that the husband managed to find almost 100 "candidates" only in the narrow area near the town where they lived, imagine how many men like that there are in the world
Kudos to Gisele making her tragic misfortune public! Thank you on behalf of all women. It's horrible to be raped by a stranger, but its 1000 times worse to be betrayed by the spouse to whom you trust. ❤️🌍🙏🏻🕊️
This case is way beyond toxic masculinity, that ex husband and father is a psychopath and all the other people involved aside what they say are psychopath too.
You dont need sycophants to do simple bad things. He had some kink which is encoureged these days. Specially in countries like france. And he acted on his kink which turned out to be criminal. Another other man were just looking for easy fun and they didnt ask questions about what can be wrong here. Humans are good at not wanting to face facts or asking questions.
Victims of abuse should not feel shamful. It's the perpetrators who should. It's sad that i also live in a very patriarchal society where toxic masculinity is still pervasive and worshipped by most men and women. But we must fight for a future where gender equality is actually realised in everyday life.
Thank you for your compassionate response. You don't need to apologise, but if you want to help, you could start holding other men accountable for sexist jokes (where it's clear that it's not just dark humour, but that person's actual opinion), disrespect against women, and other stuff. Basically, stop associating with men like this if you know some or call them out for their words and actions. If those men see that they won't get away with this stuff, more will think twice.
Surely we all want these men to be as far from “humanity” as possible. That's why we pathologize them as narcissists, call them evil and even portray them as monsters. But that's always been the problem. It is precisely this alienation that helps them. As we can see in this process, most of them are normal men with families, jobs, etc. This is exactly the view that we as a society should spread because it is the truth. We must recognize that rapists are no different from any other men you and I know. Until their actions reveal who they really are, we remain in the dark and hope that our counterpart is not one of these rapists. As sad and scary as it is we cannot spot them beforehand.
what was going on in that marriage for the first 40 years? The husband didn't suddenly become a sexual predator. She said to hims in court "you knew I wasn't into swinging". She completely trusted him. Why? I am sure he showed his true colours in the first 40 years of the marriage. She is a hero now but she was blind to the truth for ten years. If her ex husband hadn't been arrested would she still be "trusting" him even though she had STDs...where did they come from..she must have assumed he was screwing around on her. She is amazing for going public. But I wish one journalist would tell the entire story of how this occurred for so long?

Without direct interviews or psychological assessments made available to the public, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact reasons behind his actions. These possible explanations are rooted in broader patterns observed in similar cases of abuse, where power, control, and a lack of regard for the victim’s autonomy are central themes. The court’s focus, however, has been more on achieving justice for Gisele and holding Dominique accountable rather than exploring the deeper psychological motivations behind his crimes.
