Tried this climb again but this time using my old 26" hardtail. Able to spin comfortably at the 90s. I can climb this hill with my road bike at 34x32 gearing but my legs will feel like lead afterwards (i'm still a chunky khunt). Not good if you have a part time job that starts at 12 midnight. Actually climbed it twice today and my legs still feel fresh. I guess proper gearing and spinning is the key to climbing ridiculous walls such as these.

+Shimano Ultegra Spinning is the key buddy! I miss my old Cervelo that had 34x32 on it. I was doing a climbing epic a couple of weeks ago on my 34x29 and I just needed more gears.

+Just Ride In fact, the 9 speed deore rear mech and 10 speed 11-36 casette I just ordered for my road bike arrived and was installed today. Can't wait to test the 34x36 combo on Kensie tomorrow.

You know what's worse than riding this road balls out? Finding out later on that your phone GPS malfunctioned and did not record this bit. I think its time I get a Garmin......

+Shimano Ultegra That DOES suck. Get a Garmin so you can be totally sure of how slow you're climbing, then have it immortalised on the interwebz.

+Just Ride hehe. tried this climb again and it recorded perfectly. I'm thinking of getting a Garmin that works flawlessly with a stages power meter. Is Garmin Edge 520 ok?

The 520 is a good unit. I haven't had any particular problems, outside of Live Segments being really REALLY stupid to set up and use. It hasn't died or done anything stupid on any of my big rides which is nice. All recent Garmins should work fine with Stages. The sensors (speed, cadence, HRM) with the 520 are a major step forward over the old ones too. You could always save a bit of money and get a used 510.
