Its not close! Guys! Outside of passing! Hakeem is a the superior offensive player and a course, the superior defensive player! If you want to see how elite Hakeem was in the NBA. Forget the 94 and 95 playoffs runs. Go watch the 1986 NBA finals Rockets vs Celtics. Hakeem was facing, McHale, Bird, Parrish, Walton and Kite. Hakeem was Un guardable on offense. That wasn't were here was terrifying. He was elite on defense against the Celtics. He had to get in foul trouble in 3 those games for the Celtics to feel comfortable in the post and around the basket. Remember, that playoffs, the Rockets beat the Lakers to make the NBA finals! Hakeem was doing the same to Worthy, Kareem, Magic, Thompson and etc.

I get hakeem is the bettwr defender. But yall old heads dont seem to get that jokic is the offense. He directs traffic, seyup teammates, and is among the best passers ever. He has shot 50 percent from three for an entire playoff run and won a title as the only all star. Jokic on offense is so efge ient you barely see him have ganes under 45 percent from the field.
Jokic defense isnt insane but it is effective and he isnt a negative there.
I'd rather my big man be a 2 way guy with all time great defense than my big man being a playmaker I honestly don't care bout that, I'd just go get a Chris Paul type guard if I wanted a playmaker I'm looking for my big man's most important trait to be a defensive stud that's way more important for a big man than playmaking.

Jokic is great in his era, comparing these players when they aren’t even playing the same game makes no sense. Jokic skillset perfectly fits his era.

@@AlphaTSH you think it’s a coincidence that jokic first 5 seasons were good then it magically became ridiculous in 2020-21. Is is a coincidence that so many players average high numbers of assists. No one is the same player in a different time. Team priority is different, team composition is different, rules, teammates, coaching, sets. It’s a lot deeper than oh ya he would be fine. I think he would good but a lot of this is inflation and the times not to mention players get more rest than anytime in history. There are a lot of factors at play. I personally believe jokic is a product of his time. Now don’t get me wrong I’m a jokic fan love his game he actually his teammates better unlike most of these fake stars they claim do just because they have a lot of assists.

@@AlphaTSH I don’t think he’s as productive. He has no real competition at his position he doesn’t have physicality every possession, he gets plenty of rest he isn’t being attacked every possession. There is no boxing out, his team would not have had so manny shooters a lot of these cuts his teammates do aren’t there in the first place in packed paint. I think he would make all star I don’t think he would be running the league like he does today. But if will say this and these are to his benefit he’s coachable, he’s not selfish, and he’s intelligent those work in any era. Hakeem is so great I never hear Houston fans say I wish we drafted Jordan over Hakeem. If the roles were reversed people would say wish we had Jordan over Jokic. Like I said both players are great, but Hakeem at least plays dominant on both ends of the floor, where Jokic is only dominant on the offensive end. Stylistically Bird's game is a problem for Hakeem. Jokic is better at it than Bird. It's just facts. Go watch his video breakdown of it. Hakeem had no problem admitting it.

Jokic has just entered his prime. 2 years ago Jokic was a liability on defense, that’s no longer the case. Jokic used to not be able to get up and down the floor. Now he’s in better shape, that’s no longer the case. Players get better with time and when they get better our opinions should change.

Love Joker but Dream at his prime was better. More dominate on both ends. Joker passes and shoots the three better and in all honesty Hakeem could shoot threes, he just rarely took them because he was a beast in the paint, mid range, face up, and pick and pop from 15-20 feet. On defense it's not even close. Hakeem outplayed Kareem, Shaq, Robinson, and Ewing in playoff series with his team beating all of them. Joker is absolutely great but Dream is at another level.

I love Hakeem, my fav player ever, so it's hard to be objective here. Jokic is scary good as a playmaker, and i honestly don't know what the result would be if we could find a time machine to put these 2 against each other. If Jokic can do this for another 4 years he may just convince me he's Olajuwon equal. For now Olajuwon gets the nod based on doing it for well over 12 years. Ppl forget that he had the footwork of a guard in a center's body.

If jokic is 6 on defense, than Hakeem is 6 on passing. You're choosing to give jokic a lot of benefit of the doubt on defense considering that's what the nuggets have tried to cover up by trading for certain players. The few times Denver looks vulnerable is when jokics man is a skilled offensive player like Embiid.

If Jokic wants to be better than Hakeem, he's gonna have to show that his offensive prowess is just so impactful and so important to winning, that it outweighs the overall impact of Hakeem's game. Hakeem is in the mix for the best defender ever, Joker gotta win this year and probably one more before he retires to really solidify himself as the better player.

If he wins it this year and gets FMVP he’s much better than Hakeem I think he’s already been a much more rounded out overall much more talented player than Hakeem. Jokic, without being even as good of a defender as he is now, took a G league roster to the western semi-finals. The goal of the game is to put the ball in the basket, and Jokic helps his team do that better than any other big man in the history of the sport.
