  • This video demonstrates how to use the Coin Doming Tool Set by Legacy Brand Coin Ring Tools
Our new coin doming tool set for making coins into domes for coin bell tops, coin buttons and coin beads. Domes all sizes of coins using your existing 17 degree / 25 degree / Swedish Wrap Die sets.
Please measure the outside diameter of the dies you are intending to use. There is some variance in the OD of all brands of dies. This doming kit is machined with close tolerances to fit dies that are 44mm / 1.75" inches. If your dies are larger than 44.1 mm, please contact me via convo so I can customize a doming lid for you.
Three different sets available. Please read descriptions below and select the set you want from the drop down menu.
    TYPE 1 SET includes:
One centering lid with a one half inch (1/2") deep recess that fits atop all brands of standard 1.75" diameter folding / reduction dies. It also works with Swedish Wrap dies.
Three domed DELRIN forming pins with approximate diameters of 3/4" inch, 5/8" inch and 3/8" inch. These pins are replaceable as needed, so you don't have to buy a whole new doming set.
Three 3D printed ABS spacers to adjust the depth of the punch recess as needed.
One 1" inch long accessory pusher for extended pushing of the domed pins inside Swedish Wrap dies.
    TYPE 2 SET includes:
One centering lid with a one half inch (1/2") deep recess that fits atop all brands of standard 1.75" diameter folding / reduction dies. It also works with Swedish Wrap dies.
Three domed STEEL forming pins with approximate diameters of 3/4" inch, 5/8" inch and 3/8" inch. Steel pins are made from heat treated 4140 tool steel.

One 1" inch long accessory pusher for extended pushing of the domed pins inside Swedish Wrap dies.
    TYPE 3 SET includes:

You're right Gary, this is an "excellent" set for doming coins. I'm so happy that I got them from you. Going to purchase the swede die companion for the bell coin. Hope you make a video on using this. You teach well. Peace.

Frank, Thank you very much. The tools work very well, and top quality indeed. After many domes being formed using a variety of coins, these still work like the day they were added to my arsenal of tools... Gary

If I want to start off just making half dollar bells what tools do I need first other than the Arbor press and punch set? Thank you

See standard doming set, and 17° dies is the way to go to begin. If you want to save detail delrin set works very well, however the steel set is great and will last a long time.

Everything looks great. My question is what type of hydraulic press do you use? My Harbor Freight 6 ton press does not have enough clearance to place those tools in there, ( I think) I know that I can not get my Jason Works coin punch in the press. Thank you

These are amazing I’ll be adding them to my setup very soon! Just a quick question, can you form silver coins with them and a 1ton arbor press or ring sizer?

    • @legacybrandcoinringtools2956
      @legacybrandcoinringtools2956  4 роки тому +1

A one ton Arbor press will work, however you have more control with a hydraulic press, and yes they will form silver.

Purchased this set and am having trouble with my coin 1964 pennies moving (not annealed). Using the CRT 17 degree .80 Die. Placed the doming tool lid with the 3 shims on top of the coin and Smallest Delrin push rod. Using a Harbor freight 6 ton press and going pretty slow, the penny keeps moving to the side of the die and not creating a dome. Tried an un-annealed quarter and the coin did not move made a decent dome. Perplexed as to why the penny keeps moving. Suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong much appreciated. I wanted to make some cool penny buttons.

Jack Five. You might try the middle size pin for initial fold, then move to the smallest pin if that's the one you would like to use. You might also try a thin piece of leather or equivalent material on top of the coin prior to press. Also you want to use the least amount of shims to bring the lid closer to the top of the coin, however high enough to hold the pin square.
