We do have a beginner's bundle that we sell on our etsy shop that has most everything you need to work with quarters and half dollars. Unfortunately we just sold out of some of the 17 degree dies that go in it it yesterday and are working on restocking it.

Loved how You showed clearly what you were doing. Is there a way of doing it without using a separate ring stretcher/reducer?

Steve C, thank you. Rings can be made from coins using the wall straightening system. Here is a link to the video using that system ua-cam.com/video/-KrnvUMfolM/v-deo.html
Folding rings with dies, and sizing them up using the wall straightening system is possible, however takes practice and a ring stretcher is recommended to slightly open up the punch side of the ring prior to using the straightening system. A steel cone can be used to open up the punch side of the coin if you do not have a ring stretcher. Deburring the punch/cut side of a ring is important to help prevent damage to the straightening cones.

What’s the difference in the outcome appearance of the rings between the 17 degree and 25 degree dies? Which do people prefer? Is one easier to work with over the other?

      Cassandra,
The difference between the 17, and the 25 degree dies is how much of a curve you would like in the side walls of a coin ring. 17 degree is primarily used for fold and reduction, and 25 degree is used for more of a fat tire, or curved sidewall in the last step of forming a coin ring.
