What I would recommend is that in the same video you make a comparison with the previous product to the updated one so that your consumers can see the differences.
Of course they release this about a month or so after I got the brushed version and immediately upgraded it to brushless ;). Sigh. Anyways, glad they did this. This is what this SCT was meant to be. And for the record an ESC being 2-3s capable on a light weight 2wd rig, 3s it the most one would ever need anyways so i'm good with 2-in-1 systems in this case. I never care that much about transmitters so whatever it ships with, so long as it works, that's fine with me.

I'm very pleased with the price. Before I even watched I saw Arrmas teaser video and I was saying to myself if this around $230 it would be perfect. About $50 more than the brushed? I say that's a win for Arrma!!
@joeymendoza3859 Yeah to be fair it seems like a lot of manufacturers are focusing on value for money which I think right now especially is the right thing to do. Only one manufacturer doesn't seem to understand that.
@@DoRC It definitely is great to see! I think I know exactly who you are talking about lol. I was almost going to bring them up when talking about the price but figured best not to 😅
Great video! Regarding the stability management, have you tried using an slt3 transmitter to bind and make full use of it? I'm curious to know as I have a bunch of them laying around. Thanks for the amazing content, love your thorough analysis!
I have actually made the 2wd vorteks into a race truck. (The fury's cousin/lcg gorgon) And it is super heavy compared to other race specific stadium trucks. But it can keep up with very good driving and woth LOTS of modifications lol
Brilliant as always mate. Arrma are leading the pack with their new releases. Horizon Hobbies have all basis covered, you can even get a new really slow model if you are a Traxxas fanboy.
I just received mine yesterday, unfortunately it's heading back for service on Monday. Anything below about 50% throttle just causes cogging. The only way to get the car to move from a stop is to quickly feather the throttle. I hope they can fix it quickly.
@@DoRC According to Arrma service there was an issue with the motor and ESC. They are sending me a whole new truck, it should be here Friday. They handled it very quickly. Service received my truck on Friday, and they shipped my replacement on Monday.
If you have the option, don't mount the receiver so close to anything that might interfere with it such as other electronics, metal or carbon fiber especially if it has an internal antenna. (Stock ESC/RX combo has it's antenna above everything.)
Definitely good advice if you need maximum range. This system, at least in my experience, has enough range that you can mount it pretty much anywhere and it'll be fine.
Nickel metal hydride I agree with but the BL2S system still pretty much has the power of a brushed system and to be fair this car costs less than a brushed two-wheel drive slash
I already made my Fury brushless. However, do you think we'll see a brushless BLX version of the Gorgon? I upgraded one for my son, but I'd like to have one also, and if Arrma came out with one, I'd definitely buy another one.
I suspect from a marketing standpoint it is detrimental for them to release too many vehicles at once just because it waters down the release and it's unlikely people would buy a bunch of vehicles at the same time. Staggering out the release probably means they sell more cars
Great price for a 50 mph 1/10 short course truck. Very cool. I would get one if I didn't have a brushless Slash and an MJX 10208. Who knows though I might get a wild hair up the bleep and order one.
I really am more intrigued by the new 223s senton and what it means for the rest of the 4x4s. I personally loved the big rock back in the day but the slipper clutch killed it for me. Now the 223s 4x4s come with the all metal gears found in the 4s line including the center diff. Though the exploded view offers conflicting info on the diff ring gears. However the esc got a 20 amp downgrade and the motor might actually be smaller than the last one, it’s an all new part with no dimensions I could find. It’s not the same motor in the 2wd at least. On the one hand it’s got a lot of upgrades I’ve been asking for, on the other it’d cost at least an additional $70 to put it on my dx5 pro on top of the $75 receiver. And that’s assuming the motor is even worth keeping on a higher amp esc. If they just made a 4s big rock it would save a lot of headaches for me.
@@DoRC the photo on the product order page (not the showcase page or whatever it’s called) is showing the metal ring and pinion. However the exploded view shows the plastic ring gear with the metal pinion/input gear part No.ARA311153
Btw, bas anybody noticed that LOTS of RTR come with at leasr one or two schrews either ready to be stripped or overfilled with loctite? At this point they should start selling a kit version for any of this RTR, like the slash or the hpi creators kit.
Unfortunately yes. I have found that pretty much every RTR I get from any brand will have something stripped or messed up. It's usually not a big deal but it would be nice if it didn't happen
@DoRC the chassis design and geometry fits everything needed. New tires and better shocks should make it a monster. They might of accidentally created a racing truck imo lol
Great review! You did your best trying to make this vehicle look fun. The Mojave vibe of this rig does look great but however it doesn't handle off road condition very well. 2wd constantly raising the front end up is annoying. Its a hard pass on this vehicle. Anyone who is considering this vehicle, Id say if you have the budget get the Mojave 4s. A Big rock 3s 4x4 would handle off road conditions with ease. I would even consider the 3s 4x4 Vorteks before this Fury crap. Arrmar this aint it.
@litfit4041 I try to be as honest as possible regardless of how much I pay for something. If something isn't good I'm going to tell you. Obviously being two-wheel drive this is harder to control than a four-wheel drive vehicle and with the power it has it is going to understeer on acceleration but that's more of a problem with two wheel drive in general not really a problem with this particular car. I think as far as two-wheel drive vehicles go especially with the stability control this is a pretty good one.
Hey Do RC excelente video as always 😊 Do you think that a washer of the right size between the bearing and the spur gear would be a fix for that problem?
It certainly wouldn't hurt. It would have to be a very specific size but they do make precision shims in precise sizes and at the very least it would add an extra surface between the two.
I love how companies keep putting bigger and bigger connectors on basic power systems. Deans has proven that if you use official deans connectors (not any knockoff or copy) they can handle 6s+ systems just fine.
True but genuine Dean's connectors are expensive and horizons going to use the most appropriate of their own connectors. The IC3 isn't really designed to handle a lot of current so the switch to IC5 makes sense in this case.
@ fair enough, I just find the added bulk a bit funny, especially when traxxas came out with their ID connectors on the 1/16 E-Revo. Could hardly fit them under the body
So?! How’d it compare to the Fusion Pro system you’ve run in these platform?? Also, Do you think the 2in1 would fit under the Raider body? I LOVE your Raider recreation and want to build one too! Curious if I should just get the brushed fury and upgrade it or if the blx is a better starting point. Thanks for all your hard work tearing into all these trucks!!!
I'd say they're pretty comparable. This is probably better at getting rid of heat just because there's a separate ESC but the fusion gives you the ability to use your own transmitter. For a raider build I'm not sure. I would probably go with the BLX because you wouldn't have to buy anything else as long as you don't mind using the included transmitter.
I wouldn't discount it for more experience to people either. It's a lot of fun! I haven't done a ton of two wheel drive driving recently and it's been interesting to rehone my skills
And I know you've said you like to speed test in real-world environments but I'm pretty certain that companies make X speed claim, it's on a paved road in the most ideal conditions possible. This way they can say "it can hit X speed." Just don't want people out here to think "I can get this rig to run 35 on 2s or 50+ on 3s on thick grass." Just no way. This is why I tend to prefer paved roads for pure speed test and we all can acknowledge that in dirt or grass we're going to be losing some MPH.
Yeah you can do it either way. I tend to test the really small stuff on concrete because they're very heavily affected but I like to test the bigger stuff in real world conditions because that's how most people are going to be driving them. Personally I think it doesn't matter at all if a car can do a hundred miles an hour downhill on glass in a vacuum because that's just not how people are going to be driving them.
@@DoRC I hear ya. Keep up the good work. Quite simply nobody out there does the deep dives & thorough look through on RCs like you do so I appreciate that. thanks.
No. Digital versus analog is kind of a misrepresentation of their difference. Basically a digital servo updates the servo positioning feedback a lot more frequently than an analog servo. And analog servo technically still does everything digitally and the nomenclature is just a holdover from a long time ago when there was actually a difference. Brushless versus brushed is based on the technology of the motor that actually drives the servo
Depends. If you're bashing areas are pretty small and pretty smooth without grass the Mojave gram will be fine. If you want to have a more versatile experience definitely get this. This will be able to fill a lot of places that the Mojave grom simply won't be able to
@@DoRC if there are no other upgrades I'm wondering if it's better just to get the brushed version for 100 dollars cheaper and get a better hobbywing system and use your own radio (which is better).
@babupranav It depends. If you are going to use your own radio then yes I would recommend getting the brushed version. By the time you buy a replacement ESC for this the cost would probably Not really make it worthwhile.
Arrma Fury 223 = £230. A brushed 2wd Slash costs £260 here in the UK.... Just let that sink in for a moment.! Arrma Grom brushless = £190 - £200.. Traxxas Mini Maxx =£280.!! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
I hate this new trend of 2in1 esc. That disqualifies it as a consideration entirely. I already throw RTR radios in the bin, now I have to buy a new esc with every car now?
Bin it along with the motor. 3650 is too small for this size vehicle. Should have come with a 3660 2600kv, much more suitable. They probably know as 3660 comes with 5 mm shaft usual. Asking for the upgrade.
@Muffin-g2k maybe though for a two-wheel drive lightweight vehicle, at least in my opinion it has plenty of power. Especially on 3S it's got enough power to overwhelm the stability control and make you immediately lose control if you just nail the throttle. I'm honestly not sure more power would really be useful.
@@DoRC More torque that comes with the bigger can size. Not necessary more rpm. Upping a bandit to a 3660 made a whole diffrence how it handles itself offroad. And that thing is "light" (not really still a fatty for a buggy). Try a 3660 3100 and see for yourself.
I've got a ignorant question for you. When purchasing a new servo what are important things for bashing? Such as torque, speed, range of motion or degrees. Metal gears and waterproofing are standard in my book. And I prefer brushless, but often brushed has more torgue it seems like? Speed in a servo isn't as important as torque to me. And I thought digital was better than analog? Anyway,I know you're a busy guy and this is probably a stupid question? But if you should find the time to enlighten me on just how stupid I am,I would greatly appreciate it. No offense to others, but I think you have a better way of teaching and sharing knowledge than most! You could been a professer or something. Plus you're a little more thorough without skipping through the little***tt! I for 1 am a tad ignorant and could use a lesson in the liite***tt! So thank you for your channel, sharing, and for having a neutral voice thats not irritating, doesn't put me to sleep, and are articulant and legible. Some channels from other countries are herd to hear and translate. You usually have good sound and video, lots don't. You're alright in my book! And it would be a pleasure to meet you some day and shake your hand!🤛
Brushless servos are definitely better and we'll have more torque and speed. As far as specifications it can be difficult to pick a servo based on those. There are plenty of manufacturers out there that lie about their specs. AGFRC servos are good but my personal favorite is the power hobby 729. It's made by AGFRC but it's the perfect combination of power speed and durability. It's not cheap but it's the last servo you'll have to buy for whatever you're putting it in. I've even run one in an X-Max
It is also strange how they market it as having a gyro, you know what also has a gyro? About every receiver that I now cannot use as we go backwards and make it toy grade with a 2in1 esc
Yeah, 2-in-1 makes it a no go for me. So clearly they are aiming solidly at the beginner market and telling us hobbyists (look at me, calling myself a hobbyist. Lies) that if we want a 10th scale Arrma that we need to buy the 4s line. Beginners don't know how bad RTR transmitters are, if it's their first RC.
I think that there are probably more people buying these kinds of cars that aren't enthusiasts than people that are So it will most likely not be a problem for the majority of their target demographic. That being said I can definitely understand why it would be annoying.
@@DoRCit would be cool if they released a roller of all of their cars (that isnt priced as if it were a rtr). The made the same mistake with the 3s groms. To save a few bucks its better to buy the brushless motor grom to get the upgrades needed to run brushless but now you have a useless parts bin esc you paid for that will never be used
Yeah and that's what I said at the end of the video. Really the extra power is more of a bit of fun than something I think people should seriously try to do :-)
@@boduke9428 maybe but it's nice to have the option to swap out one without having to swap out the other. I do agree that most people will either not be swapping out hardware or will we swapping out enough stuff that it probably won't make much difference practically.
They’re even putting 80A 2in1s in the new 1/10 Senton. I get it for micro scale cars, they help take up less space. Putting 2in1s on a 1/10 is an obvious ploy to lock you into their controllers. Poopy business practice if you ask me.
@adickurig I'm not sure that's the case. Given that the two in one ESC runs off of their SLT protocol which isn't compatible with their upgraded transmitters It doesn't seem like that's their goal. My guess is that the two in one system is just less expensive and helps them keep the price down.
Yes and no. Sealed bearings definitely will handle water splashing better than shielded bearings but neither one of them's going to hold up very long to being submerged.
Since they giving away throwaway 2in1 esc's rather upgrade the brushed version. And for this size/weight vehicle a 3660 can should be used. 2600kv - 3100kv with a 100a esc.
What a shame arrma. Well, that just leaves 4s foe me from now on. Thank goodness I have a senton v3 3s with a backup new body ordered today❤ Guess Vorteks will now get same treatment, again what a shame!!
@@DoRC80 and below amps in a 3s vehicle gives me "China willies" It's an unfortunate direction. How much does it really cost to have the 100 amps power compared to 80 amps ? $5? Then make the truck $235 But NO, all these companies want to be able to throw out the fancy advertising line (which is a savings of one whole cent below $230) "UNDER $230 WOW WHAT A GOOD DEAL" because it costs $229.99 What a load of bollocks advertising is. I'd rather pay $235 and get better stuff. I'm sad to see Arrma making poor decisions, but like Traxxas before them, getting big and popular causes corners to be cut, because Joe "My First RC" Blow isn't gonna understand that 80 amps is less than usual. Well, at least Arrma have committed to being having a budget line. 2 in one ESC receivers were invented by The Great Satan right after he invented brushed motors and unmelted cheese.

@@DoRC It definitely is great to see! I think I know exactly who you are talking about lol. I was almost going to bring them up when talking about the price but figured best not to 😅
I have the vortex mega, it's a awesome truck. This gorgon lineup is the best value in rc.
It definitely represents quite a bit of value for money.
Wowsa you got that quick!
Indeed :-)
Shielded bearings work great inside gearboxes. I use them in my erevo gearbox
Yeah anywhere that dirt isn't going to get shielded bearings are fine
For $230 that’s a deal, Arrma always has good prices
Yeah you definitely get a lot for the money!
Another great video. Arrma seems to be doing good.
Yeah they're definitely making some cool stuff!
That chassis is like a two by four on wheels!
Pretty much :-)
I love it. Arrma is doing work. It's gotta be a frustrating time to be a Traxxas fanboy.
Value for money definitely is better with arrma
Great video! Regarding the stability management, have you tried using an slt3 transmitter to bind and make full use of it? I'm curious to know as I have a bunch of them laying around. Thanks for the amazing content, love your thorough analysis!
I haven't but I'll try it.
Very curious to know the result! Thanks for considering it!
I have actually made the 2wd vorteks into a race truck. (The fury's cousin/lcg gorgon) And it is super heavy compared to other race specific stadium trucks. But it can keep up with very good driving and woth LOTS of modifications lol
That's not really surprising. This is specifically designed as a basher so they probably didn't give a lot of consideration to total weight.
New project RC…and pretty accesible nice Vid and thanks
Yeah you get a lot for the money that's for sure!
Brilliant as always mate. Arrma are leading the pack with their new releases. Horizon Hobbies have all basis covered, you can even get a new really slow model if you are a Traxxas fanboy.
They definitely are giving good value for money
I just received mine yesterday, unfortunately it's heading back for service on Monday. Anything below about 50% throttle just causes cogging. The only way to get the car to move from a stop is to quickly feather the throttle. I hope they can fix it quickly.
Yeah that definitely sounds like a defect. I'm sure they'll replace the ESC and you'll be good to go.
@@DoRC According to Arrma service there was an issue with the motor and ESC. They are sending me a whole new truck, it should be here Friday. They handled it very quickly. Service received my truck on Friday, and they shipped my replacement on Monday.
@ItsJustJoeC Good to hear they're taking care of it. Horizon service is usually very good.
Love what Arrma has going on
Definitely :-)
Hi bro again best content out there, I have decided to go for the Omni Terminator. Instead of mjx 10208
Let me know how you like it!
This should be the base model. HH should rid itself of brushed motors and NiMH batts like what it appears what Traxxas is doing.
Can't say for sure but I think it would be weird if we didn't see brushless versions of everything
I think definitely I’m surprised didn’t drop at same time holidays “ coming
I suspect from a marketing standpoint it is detrimental for them to release too many vehicles at once just because it waters down the release and it's unlikely people would buy a bunch of vehicles at the same time. Staggering out the release probably means they sell more cars
@ definitely agree 👍, about to watch your senton video now
Nice review! Shame you didn’t get that crash on camera 😅
It really is. Seeing the wheel go flying 30 ft further than the car was fun :-)

"Metal Gear?" --Solid Snake
★that's not a question I'm asking, I'm just doing a Metal Gear joke.
:)
Great price for a 50 mph 1/10 short course truck. Very cool. I would get one if I didn't have a brushless Slash and an MJX 10208. Who knows though I might get a wild hair up the bleep and order one.
As far as two-wheel drive vehicles go it's a pretty good one.
Where have you seen that the V4 comes with all metal gears? I haven't found anywhere that says that and the exploded view doesn't show it.
@@DoRC the photo on the product order page (not the showcase page or whatever it’s called) is showing the metal ring and pinion. However the exploded view shows the plastic ring gear with the metal pinion/input gear part No.ARA311153
I'M GETTING IT, INDEED!!!
I don't think you'll be disappointed it's a sweet ride!
Damn for 230$ it's a score. When a slash vxl is 380.
Agreed. You're definitely getting a lot for the money here
😂 love your rc skidles
Glad you enjoy and thanks for watching!
4s is going to be great for the new Senton!
With plastic diffs and stock driveshafts? Not really. 3s 120a is the Limit or you have to upgrade
Stay tuned :-)
This thing can be so good for racing
That's cool. I know they don't really design it for racing but it is pretty lightweight!
@DoRC the chassis design and geometry fits everything needed. New tires and better shocks should make it a monster. They might of accidentally created a racing truck imo lol
Someone’s on the horizon nice list
:)
I don't know. With the DSC I feel like it's actually pretty fun and handles reasonably well.
@@DoRC Was it free? If so I would have fun for free. IJS.
@@DoRC Indeed.
Very nice.!! 👍 👍 👍
Thanks for watching :-)
A lot better than the slash 2wd. Not that’s there is anything wrong with the slash just this is WAAAAYAYYYY better
You definitely get more for your money
@ yea, way more
Great video, do you think we'll get a new Typhon 6s? I want to buy the TLR TUNED
I suspect eventually we will get new versions of all of the 6s vehicles but I haven't heard anything about them
Hey Do RC excelente video as always 😊
Do you think that a washer of the right size between the bearing and the spur gear would be a fix for that problem?
@ crazy to me that a connector that is basically 2 3.5mm bullets can’t handle 3s with a relatively low amp motor.
The esc is very similar to the old dynamite tazer 45amp esc
Definitely looks similar
Is the battery compartment bigger than the Gorgon? I can barely fit a 5000 mah 3s in my Gorgon. The door barely closes.
Same size
Gotcha, thanks. 5000mah and smaller or soft packs it is.
Is is possible to use this esc with a different reciever?
I don't think so.
Perfect for beginners
I wouldn't discount it for more experience to people either. It's a lot of fun! I haven't done a ton of two wheel drive driving recently and it's been interesting to rehone my skills
@@DoRC for sure 👍
Glad I waited geez
Yeah that's definitely feels like the better deal!
Quite simply nobody out there does the deep dives & thorough look through on RCs like you do so I appreciate that. thanks.
@sudsrc8261 Glad you enjoy and thanks for watching :-)
is a digital servo a brushless servo?
@@DoRC ok cool thanks
Kinda reminds me of my HPI jumpshot v2
Kind of a similar design
Damn and I just made my og fury brushless
How are the drivetrain components holding up?
@DoRC pretty well. Only running it on 2s
@crashandcynder nice
Get this or the grom mohave??

I've been called worse :-) thanks for watching!
Does it have 14mm hubs?
Yes
I hate this new trend of 2in1 esc. That disqualifies it as a consideration entirely. I already throw RTR radios in the bin, now I have to buy a new esc with every car now?
Yeah for enthusiasts it definitely is a little frustrating.
Has anyone in the UK managed to get one or is it a waiting game?
I think you guys are a little behind on the release
@ 11th of December if my chosen retailer is to be believed
Fun!
Definitely!
@DoRC so is it better to get a 180 degree servo or 60 degree?
It's pretty cool not a big fan of 2wd models 👍
They definitely have a smaller target audience than the four-wheel drive ones. The stability control really helps though
Holy Tripple kickflip! Omg Sick!💯🙌❤️🏁
It's pretty cool :-)
4:57 *IC5*
Good catch though to be fair This doesn't have the telemetry so it's basically an EC5 :)
@DoRC fair point
To save a few bucks its better to buy the brushless motor grom to get the upgrades needed to run brushless but now you have a useless parts bin esc you paid for that will never be used
It's not very controllable on 3s. The solution: 4S...
You get it :-)
No need at all for A 4s being a rear wheel drive 3s is enough power she already flips over from the speeds of a 3s set up
Yeah and that's what I said at the end of the video. Really the extra power is more of a bit of fun than something I think people should seriously try to do :-)
this and the v4 senton are a no from me chief . that being said there great for beginners and more people in this hobby is an awesome thing
I think they're really awesome and personally think they blow at least some of the competition away:)
Yeah, not a fan of all the 2 in 1 ESC/Rx combos. Hobbywing and Radiolink get my dollars over Spektrum whenever I can.
For people who like to swap out hardware it is a little frustrating.
@@DoRCwhy? If you're that type then chances are you aren't running the stock esc or receiver.
There is no bearing in any hobby grade RC car that will handle water without maintenance. None. I don’t care what anyone says.
I suspect for most people the ESC will not be a throwaway. The majority of the people that buy these cars likely never change out the electronics.
@@DoRC Cheaping out, not cool. At least give a plug for a external reciever.

What's a shame?
@@DoRC80 and below amps in a 3s vehicle gives me "China willies"
It's an unfortunate direction. How much does it really cost to have the 100 amps power compared to 80 amps ?
$5? Then make the truck $235
But NO, all these companies want to be able to throw out the fancy advertising line (which is a savings of one whole cent below $230) "UNDER $230 WOW WHAT A GOOD DEAL" because it costs $229.99

2 in one ESC receivers were invented by The Great Satan right after he invented brushed motors and unmelted cheese.
