  • The A-100 is an unsupported hiking challenge, covering the 100 miles of the North Country Trail through Allegheny National Forest. It is not a race, but an endurance challenge that dares you traverse 100 miles in 50 hours.
My second attempt at the A-100 was successful! We did 100 miles in 47 hours and 35 minutes. Slept for about 3 hours Friday night, then hiked from 7am Saturday until 5pm Sunday straight through. Our feet were wet within about 30 seconds on the trail, and stayed that way they entire time. The weather was perfect the whole time. We met and hiked with some truly awesome people. We saw some of the most beautiful areas of the Allegheny National Forest (when it wasn't pitch black in the middle of the night that is).
The ANF chapter of the North Country Trail Association has come up with one hell of a challenge. It was hands-down the toughest thing I've ever done physically and mentally, but it feels incredible to have completed it. Congrats to the other finishers, you guys are animals! And a special thank you to Chad for being crazy enough to do this with me, and for pushing me to finish when I might have quit by myself. It was an amazing time, and hopefully I can walk normally in a few days.
