I have one just like it. I haven't used it since 1978. I talked skip from Decatur Alabama to the Mojave Desert in California. I have QSL cards from everywhere. The coil in the front is what changes it from Amateur to CB. I think for it to be the 27 mghrtz the coil has to be shortened. I had a set of Shooting Stars 4 element beams and an Astroplane. The Preacher from the local Church came by and told me that everytime he said amen I would say 10-4. Bleeding on their sound system. I took everything down and joined the Church and never ran a base station after that. With the Scout and a D-104 I was bleeding on the TV's and the telephones back then.............Trailblazer
Hey John Holy smoke, i've not seen one of those Scout 20 tube amps for an age. If i remember right they have 4 tubes 2 driver tubes, but i could be wrong, its been a long time. Not sure if you’ve dug in to that amp yet. I would check the filter caps in the high voltage section, typically they use a voltage doubler , if any of those are shorted it will take out the fuse, incidentally the fuse might be part of the high voltage path, the relay when closed will short across a series limiting resistor which pops when it is keyed. No matter the cause that size of fuse is crazy as you a,ready know. Good luck!
I have 1 just like it coming in soon.... I did some silver swapping for 1...... My buddy got it from an older gent that bought it new from the place it was made not far down the road from him.... It's about the same condition , but has never been worked on except for tube swaps....It was working perfect when put up , but we all know how that goes with older caps, switches and pots......

Real amps glow in the dark I love my sb220 n my 811h Looks like some one up date some caps. the cap got a wire not hook up its to newer but that's good replace all the caps in some thing that old I know I wood
id have to say that fuse should be like a 30 maybe even bigger and put a bigger power cord on it i had a eagle 500 could of had bigger tubes but that did 1000 to 1300 so just becus that amp sez 500 on it you it will probley do more my blj 600 was coverted to 220v and that did around 2000 always remember when u turn those tube amps on let them idle and worm up for at least 5mins before key it up

Well now's Your chance! get that antenna up, and talk to as many People as You can! I have both of My base radios grounded, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. just make sure Your antenna is grounded.

Make sure u put some rubber grommets under the transformer, that will quieten up the transformer from hum and vibration. Nice amp there .

How much PEP will this do? Didn't see part 2 to the video. I have a chance to get a 4 tube Scout Cadet 150....can't find much on it, so not sure if it's the same.
It is a 500 watt amp. The three way power switch is to reverse polarity. Mine is called a " Mud Duck"
I checked the back of the switch, and it only has 2 of the 3 pins connected.
I'm guessing someone replaced it with what they had.
I would put a second fan outside the amp.
The transformer for the Palomar is an extra box. That old feller is pretty neat.

It can just be the inrush current on tired caps too that will pop a fuse. Capacitors won't block DC until they get some charge.

you'll need to borrow a tube tester and check those tubes for shorts. The should be matched too.

When did I say it would be used on CB? This is an HF amplifier and that's what it will be used for! Please take your negativity elsewhere.
