Vivid Strings: Celli (Pulse Audio) First Look

This is a "first look" at the 2nd installment from Pulse Audio's Vivid Strings Collection, Celli. Some Violins make an appearance as well. No sponsorship and not paid, I purchased the product and this was my first time playing with the Celli.

I like the detail of the bow noise. That does indeed make them vivid. They sound a little romantic to me otherwise (small 'r'). Fairly good at plaintive, very good at incipient joy. Some of the passing discordant sounds were really nice, suggesting that maybe there is more pain in these strings than I'm hearing at first.

I find these strings sound best with internal reverb off and a good outboard reverb applied. Nice demo!

The internal reverb sounds quite “cool” to me, which blends well with Liikkuva strings, and many external reverbs warm them up a bit.
