I'm a Tenryu ranked raven player and I feel like I struggle with punishing, would be really helpful. Love your videos, they have helped me to adjust from a big break from Tekken.
Raven's standing (non launching) punishes are 3 3, 4 1, and db2 1 (edit: forgot about df 1 - 4). Unfortunately, that's it. They all do reasonable damage, but the meat of the punish windows is to set up mix ups and frame traps that lead to launchers or heavier counters. Also, make people respect your effective range by using df 4 (confirm 4 4 if hit). It's a natural 3 hit that leads to grounded.

6:20 is a good point, I haven't played raven in ranked yet just casual but the lower ranks in casuals mostly mash attacks and heat which for me is very hard to break out of and knowing when to poke is where I struggle most.

I couldn't wait for the Raven101 episode's. I'm gonna be honest I be mashing too much as Raven sometimes lol. I go in really heavy with the bt mix and soul zone mix ups. Sometimes I'll get out mashed by the opponent so I'll have to slow it down and space them out and play keep out and wiff punish. I am glad you covered this important topic because people love to challenge bt in this game. If one of my bt transitions gets blocked, I'm gonna start turning back to neutral more instead going into my bt attacks. But you do have to predict how the opponent will respond to bt. If they do a challenge it with highs I'll do the launching sweep if the challenge with mids I'll do the armor If the challenge it with lows I'll low crush with bt f/2+4. But the best option is to just turn back around and block.

I feel like I have a rough idea, but would like to see as well a punishment guide, along with general grounded/wall oki gameplan and setups. Since I came from playing Bryan, like if he has some OD at the wall like Bryan's B4.
I think my main problem with raven is that I'm not 100% sure what moves end in backturn so I get focused on the enemy and not realizing im not going to block, and while in backturn I'm not sure what moves get me out of it. It's hard to remember these moves for me, meanwhile learning jack was like learning to breathe
Honestly I've only recently gotten the idea on how to get people to respect raven. Took me a while to realise that simply exiting backturn is surprisingly good. I almost never used the backturn parry in tekken 7 either
I would just like to add 4,1 is a really good tool on neutral. It has good range, fast, hits high but jails people. And you end up in back turn that is safe if you do the back turn cancel so you can collect data on what your opponent usually does after blocking this move and there are every option available to counter what your opponents going to do
Idk overusing it gets you duck launched against good players, but within range it's pretty good... Side note, yoshi can flash the manual cancel from 4,1 LMAO

How about you comment on those ranked matches you upload? It would be really fun to analyze your own decision making and your mistakes and we could all learn from each other (mostly from you, but you get the point). It doesn't have to bee a whole video just 2 or 3 games and see the response. I'm loving your channel and I'm happy Raven is in Tekken 8 even though he was never so popular.
I still gotta learn how to Wall Attack properly, use his parry (which can be used against ANYTHING, whether it’s grab/low/mid/high). Back turn parry also since switching between the two might help me stop them from mashing. The fact that doing the normal parry when back turned will help me place them against walls. Either way there are a lot of things for me to learn by reflex if I want to beat a masher.
With throws being unbreakable on counter hit, are ki charge set ups into throw too toxic or is it all's fair in Tekken 8? I noticed after Raven's command throws there is enough time to ki charge before the opponent can hit you unless they forward roll into you. You could potentially get a couple loops of free throws if the opponent is being defensive.
So bandai namco owes you money bc like i said i bought tekken and im currently in the lab . I havent played tekken since maybe ps3 days and i feel like a new born. What do you suggest i do to learn raven besides the combo challenges?

very very different, soul zone completely replaced haze, T8 Raven has better punishment, better plus frames etc. Maven has better panic tools and braindead strats
