Sofía rocks the Bahamas

- Sofía Gómez Uribe is a Colombian world record holding freediver. She was in Dean's blue hole in the Bahamas for Vertical blue, the most prestigious freediving competition of the year, where she came third overall. After the comp, we stayed an extra day to film this - the fourth instalment in the 'Sofía rocks' series. Sofía hopes to return to VB this year, and crack the 100 meters. After all of that running I seriously thought "Wouldn't it be so badass if she jumped down into the hole instead of going back up for air?". The fact that it actually happened was just awesome. Amazing video!

I spent a day at Dean's and took my family. We had it to ourselves. The cliff jumping from above the water is amazing too. Beautiful shallows and of course the Blue Hole. Magnificent.
It's one of the best places in the world for freediving

That acceleration at the beginning! It showed impressively how dense the medium water is. A woman as strong as Sofia could only muster a sprint as fast as the melting glaciers. Not that it is something bad, quite the contrary!. that way we had more time to gaze at her ...and the impressive scenery it only would have taken mere seconds to traverse on land
Yes, i don't think we'll start setting sprint records this way!
Water is about 800 times as dense as air.

I won't comment on how amazing it is to follow her run on that edge or how poignant it is to see her dive into the dark abyss... I will only focus my attention on how perfect her body is. Instead of filming her dive into deeper water I would be happy having a cup of coffee with her looking at her smile planning the color of our next child's room.

well, she's not without oxygen, is she? She has two lungs full of air, her blood is full of oxygen bonded to haemoglobin, her hearts is beating it all in a steady rhythm, so she's fine - long as she gets back to the surface on time.
