  • In the year 1989, a simple window cleaner is working outside of a skyscraper. Intending to play a prank on his angry boss, the unlikely hero discovers a secret passage leading to a time machine along with mysterious alien documents. Operating the device transports the protagonist to the year 1304, where he is given a seemingly ordinary task of rescuing a lady in danger. However, he soon finds out about a much more serious threat of a global alien invasion. The hero has to travel to the remote future of the 44th century and eventually to the even more remote past of the Cretaceous period to foil their plans.
Future Wars is a graphic adventure game, and the first to use Delphine's proprietary Cinematique point-and-click interface. A right click brings up the verb menu. After choosing one of the six commands, the player points the mouse over the desired target and executes the action with a left click. Small objects are depicted by enlarged drawings once they have been discovered; however, many of them are well-hidden and often require precise positioning on the part of the player character to discover. The game has a linear story advancement, and it is possible to die or become irrevocably stuck by failing to locate a crucial item in one of the previous locations.

I had this game way back when! In my 286 with 640k RAM! I also racked up $80 on that month's phone bill from the Interplay's 1-900 help line (Remember those?!) to win the game. My father was... most displeased.
Thanks so much for posting this!

I remember playing this game almost 30 years ago! One of the best adventure games of the era, well built, well script, funny but not stupid, and still today maintains all it's qualities. Too bad we never got a sequel.

Apparently it was meant to be the first in a series that never wound up materialising.

I loved this game. I played it once but I couldn’t figure out what to do. It took a while for my brother and his friends to figure it out but they got pretty far. They almost beat the game but were stuck on that last stage. It took me over 20 years to finally see the ending thanks to UA-cam. I have to admit the songs on this game are a little dated.

Sounds like a MIDI version. Not the MT-32 it was composed for. I'm going to guess some Roland General MIDI module with an MT-32 emulation patch map.

Does anyone have saved games for it ? I played it back in the early 1990s and finished it. However, I didn't keep the saved games 30 years later.
I found it unplayable under Dosbox (mouse pointer problems) so I could not go through it all. The reason I want these saved games is to record the MT-32 version under Dosbox. It sounds pretty close to this CD-ROM version (which I didn't know existed) but a little better to my ears, anyway.
