    Hydration is key in facials...we live in a hot climate all year round here in South America and yet...most of my clients who visit me the first time comes in with surface dryness....they use soap...they over exfoliate..they tone using twice a day with stripping toners and use vitamin c..retinol...bleaching creams...omg I can go on...but the key really is hydration..sensitive skin needs quenching to calm...dry skin needs hydration ..acne skin needs hydration...you can be oily and still have dehydrated skin beneath and above (surface dehydration) mature skin needs hydration to minimize lines and wrinkles etc. Nerida you did mention how every type of skin benefits from hydration in one of your discussions....Personally I have never had a facial where my Esthe wore gloves throughout....and I wouldn’t do it with my clients unless it’s necessary. Touch therapy is so much more than nourishment...it creates trust and coveys a message of caring..a bond between myself and client. And I know that is how I will feel if I’m blessed to have a facial with you. 😊

    Nerida I am 19 and you don’t understand how much you helped my skin !!! I had soooo much congestion all over my face up to my neck !!!! I tell you I’ve extracted every single thing as best as I can which ultimately ended up with a lot of hyperpigmentation and kept drying out my face a lot but with you’re advice i changed my diet and I kept nourishing it and HYDRATING it as best I can and majority of my hyperpigmentation has gone away ! unfortunately I’m lefted with some tad bits of hardened sebum but it better then a face full of bumps hopefully one day you can see my skin ❤️❤️ spreading love from NY ❤️❤️

    I love your videos. I agree so much with your focus to educate clients and esthetician. I will recommend you to my student estys at the Euro in Renton WA.
    My esthetic program follows your philosophy of touching the skin and only wearing gloves during extractions. Your hands are clean with proper washing with soap and water. The only time that I may wear gloves is if there is a break in the skin and I want to protect the client from any lingering bacteria from my hands if I miss a spot. I do this because of my experience as a hospital nurse.
    I believe in nourishing the skin from the inside as well as outside. A book recommended from my esthetic instructor was "Eating for Beauty" by David Wolfe.
    I only use soap in areas of my skin where I have sweat, arm pits..

But I was diagnose with breast cancer 2 years ago and I no longer can take any type of hormonal therapies.
    (ps. I am cancer free :-) Now I'm with a new dermatologist who has put me on Spirolactone for my hormones. I've been on it for a month but my acne has gotten worst. More cystic. but he said that happens and I should see results in another 2 months. He also told me to use a forming cleanser. But now I've been watching your videos and you say not to . I wish you were near me. I would love for you to be my esti. I will be checking out your webpage to order some of your products. Hopefully I will see results soon.

      Ganavi N where do you live? Do you live in a very dry climate like I do. I am also a combination skin, but I actually prefer milk or oil cleansers over a gel, on myself, and for others where I live. But my only reasoning is that people can become so dehydrated here, that I want to leave just a little bit of moisture on the skin. Even on myself-and I am extremely thorough with cleansing, but it’s not necessarily because gel cleansers aren’t right for my skin type, because they are, but I feel they aren’t enough for my climate type, if that makes sense. So if that is the case for you, I can see where you are coming from. The cleanser has to be right-non-irritating, stripping, and non-comedogenic.

      Anthony Nguyen the only serums that are salon size are the X-Cell Vitamin C, and the Flavonoid Complex. The have a pro retinoid formula, you could use as a serum from time to time as well... that one is nice.

    Hi!!! What do you think about toners ?

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  5 років тому +1

      most people don't need them....

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 5 років тому +1

      I like toners myself... but to me, a toner, these days, needs to be a treatment product. It has to have more of a benefit, then strictly being pH balancing.
      Toners were used to reset the pH of the skin because so many cleansers were-and still are-very alkaline.
      Today, many cleansers don’t upset the pH as drastically, so many lines are nixing the toner step.
      But those that do, in my opinion, should have a specific other benefit or purpose to that step. It’s gotta be brightening, or hydrating, barrier repairing... or maybe a gentle exfoliation, or purifying.... something. It has to be a beneficial treatment step for me to want to use it-it should have purpose.
      Toners should not be used because you are lazy about cleansing. EVER. It needs to be there for a good reason, if you are going to use it.

    What do you think about CeraVe or La Roche-Posay moisturizers like Efficlar? Do they feed the skin enough or do I need a some serum?

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  5 років тому +1

      There are only specific ingredients that feed the skin. If you are acne prone, those ingredients I mention a bunch ....aha's, mild retinols and bio-flavonoids :)).....for feeding and healing.

      Depends on the aha. They all have different properties and purposes, some are for texture, some are for pigment, some can even help with hydration levels. If they were referring to a specific one, then maybe. Lactic is great for brightening and hydrating... it also depends on the source, and the formula.
