    The Everyday Qantas card is a perfect companion card to the Amex ultimate card as you can use it in those scenarios where Amex isn't accepted and it's super low annual fee makes it worthwhile in a such a case if you don't want another high fee card.

    Awesome video! just FYI the ANZ FF black card sign up bonus was changed to 90k Qantas points on the first year , 40k in the 2nd and only $200 cash back. What are your thoughts on that? would that bump it down a tier ?

    You have mixed up the NAB and Westpac cards at 14.42 because it’s the NAB card that doesn’t offer lounge access, not Westpac.
    Also, the summary slide at 19.28 obscures half the cards making them difficult to identify. It would be best to show the full cards (or most of them). But thanks for making this video - it’s helpful despite the bugs.

    Another great video. I’m learning so much. Thank you.
    …I haven’t had an American Express Card in over a decade BUT when I did, every purchase incurred an Amex surcharge. Is it still just as bad and do you take this extra cost into how you review Amex rewards cards? You never seem to mention it but I think it’s a significant decider regarding value. What are your thoughts on the subject?

    • @7astarael
      @7astarael 2 місяці тому +3

      That’s what put me off the Amex option too, plus some retailers just don’t accept Amex at all. I ended up getting the Qantas premier platinum (before I saw this video) so oops. Oh well. I also read some reviews that the $450 travel credit is not as good as it seems, because you have to book through the Amex travel website and prices on the Amex travel website can be higher than if you book through Webjet or directly with the airline. I can’t remember the exact prices but I read something on Reddit maybe where the person said to book it through Amex the flight was a few hundred $$ more than if they booked directly with the airline, so it wasn’t as good value as it originally seemed.

    • @awregorwegergergerht
      @awregorwegergergerht 2 місяці тому +1

      2% cashback is probably better in most cases, but people want Qantas points so they can fly business or first class for a lot cheaper than paying cash. The value of points redeemed on certain flights (vs paying wholly in cash) can be worth way more than 2% cashback. From a purely spend less money perspective the cashback is way better.

      It definitely can be inflated but not always the case. Personally, have the Explorer Credit card so I have $400 in travel credit that I need to redeem. For my Europe trip last year, I redeemed that credit for accommodation in Rome, which for the hotel we booked ended up being on par with prices that we saw on sites like Agoda, Booking, and Trip. Compare the flight prices directly with the airlines to ensure you get a good deal when redeeming your credit.

    You failed to fully analyse all Qantas cards,e.g. CBA Ultimate. Also, any real effort to analyse properly you could have designed a simple value added algorithm. Again, e.g., Reward points divided by annual fee charged even where the points are given after 15 months. Then added a value for benefits, insurance, zero international fees, lounges etc. some having a higher value. Not including the Amex Discovery card is a mistake with zero fee, .75 points and Westpac Qantas Platinum. You failed to consider income requirements and customer service too - all could have had an assigned value. Lot easier to get a card with income between $30-75k the national income being $50-60k than those requiring >$75. Your review was seriously flawed.

  • @morgandunk2836

    You didn’t mention interest rates etc for each card, that’s a major factor. I saw one said over 20% interest on purchases! So basically paying an extra $200 for every $1000 spent…. Wouldn’t it be smarter to not use a credit card and then just put 20% of all your purchases into a savings account? Rather than spending $20,000 to get an equivalent of $200 in points … which would also be $4000 of interest alone…
