This isn’t new either. When the gen 3 VW engine came out in 2013.5 (Jetta GLI, Beetle CPPA), they used smaller arms like this. I had several I replaced chains on and the rocker arms were doing this. The 2014 CPRA, CPKA 1.8 had the same issue. By 2015 they all had the larger old design rockers.

How Audi can can wash their hands of this debacle tells us all we need to know about what a fantastic engineering and customer service company Audi is. I started watching your channel when i had a B8.5 Audi S5 a few years ago and found it to be helpful & informative. 👍
I now have a 2018 RS5 which is running really well at the moment.
The owner of the low mileage car was obviously aware of a tapping noise and chose to change the injector instead of sending it to yourselves. The engine would have given some signs before such a huge failure. 😢
For those questioning the low mileage , Audi std warranty is for 3 years or 60k depending on which 1 one comes 1st.
So unless the owner paid for an extended warranty , audi have no obligation to fix it as it is 6 years old.
If my engine starts making a ticking sound i will be straight on the phone to you guys for the next video.

So I checked all wires and connectors but couldn’t find any damage on them…
I even checked continuity from camshaft adjuster connectors to the PCM and and also the cam position sensor …
Now I realize I have negative on both connectors but no positive signal on both connectors…

Never ceases to amaze me how people can continue to drive something that's making noises like that and drive it until it stops! - still his wallet will be making a fluttering noise now with all the notes disappearing out of it!.
Wonder why they used those roller bearings?, as they are not really suited to the kind of motion in a rocker - would have thought a bronze bush would have been better for service life, but probably down to friction reduction and cost of manufacture - not good to be failing at those kind of mileages though.

And why was the warranty claim rejected ? I’m keen to know that because I have extended all component cover on mine ..
Also it’s worth remembering that this is a Porsche designed and developed engine that’s used in the Maccan, do Maccan owners suffer the same issues ??

I have had RS4’s for my last 8 cars since 2007 , Audi never repair them if the engine requires removal as the costs are ridiculous in labour alone and their master techs are useless compared to these guys , franchised dealerships are the problem , I heard of one branch in northern England deliberately putting the wrong oil in them so they could avoid warranty claims and blame owners for using wrong oil !
I dodged a bullet with the real world emissions delay on the 2018 B9 when Audi stopped production and got a late 2019 sport edition with upgraded rocker luckily enough !

Discovered this channel recently and by now have watched all the videos which I think is brilliant content. To be honest I was big fan of yours because I tought you are great guys with loads of knowledge until I ve seen video of that S4 surely you know which one I mean.Unpluging customers dash cam with Miroslav in main role that was something. You have great skills and knowledge but taking my car to you probably I wouldnt.I understand it was nice S4 and as Tomas said one of best he had so surely he would like to have a ride around in it and while he was driving eaven over speed limit is not a big deal because it wasnt tortured. But unplugging that camera is a whole lot different story.

I change the oil every 4 k miles on my S4 along with oil analysis. As soon as there are any signs or noises of this happening mine will be getting part exchanged into a garage 🫣

Wondering if anyone might know and be kind enough to advise. I’ve got a low mileage 68 plate S5, registered Oct 18. Should I have the updated rockers then, as it’s post Aug 18? Or should I get checked. Cars now done 25k miles.
