Lyrics:
[Intro]
Yeah, people come up
Yeah, we better turn the bass up on this one
[Verse 1]
Check it, since fifteen hundred and sixteen, Mayans attacked and overseen
Now crawl amidst the ruins of this empty dream
With their borders and boots on top of us
Pullin' knobs on the floor of their toxic metropolis
But how you gonna get what you need to get?
The gut eaters, blood drenched get offensive like Tet
The fifth sun sets get back reclaim
The spirit of Cuauhtémoc, alive and untamed
Now face the funk now blastin' out your speaker
On the one, Maya, Mexica
That vulture came to try and steal your name but now you got a gun
Yeah, this is for the people of the sun
[Chorus]
It's comin' back around again
This is for the people of the sun
It's comin' back around again
It's comin' back around again
This is for the people of the sun
It's comin' back around again
[Verse 2]
Yeah, never forget that the whip snapped ya back
Your spine cracked for tobacc-oh, I'm the Marlboro Man, uh
Our past blastin' on through the verses
Brigades of taxi cabs rollin' Broadway like hearses
Troops strippin' zoots, shots of red mist
Sailors' blood on the deck, come sister, resist
From the era of terror, check this photo lens
Now the City of Angels does the ethnic cleanse, uh
Heads bobbin' to the funk out your speaker
On the one, Maya, Mexica
That vulture came to try and steal your name but now you found a gun
You're history
This is for the people of the sun
[Chorus]
It's comin' back around again
This is for the people of the sun
It's comin' back around again, yeah
It's comin' back around again
This is for the people of the sun
It's comin' back around again
It's comin' back around again
This is for the people of the sun
It's comin' back around again
It's comin' back around again
This is for the people of the sun
It's comin' back around
Of the sun

Absolutely fantastic!

Zack used to be a typical Hardcore punk vocalist he just starts doing hip hop or rap in 1990.
RATM. The band that sung the songs that NEEDED to be sung
*NEED (present tense).........but love the thought!!!
Yeah bruh. Their conceptual path is still not being fully explored and debated
What a joke 🤣 they only criticize one camp, they rage with the machine. A black dude committing war crimes and crimes against humanity as a president didn't bothered them
Yeah, communist
@@eddyj.70 You must not have been paying attention to what they were doing at the time then. The existence of Street Sweeper Social Club alone proves that. Not to mention, a large chunk of their music was made during Clinton's presidency. Also, if you think that Republicans and Democrats aren't both the same "camp" beyond some domestic policies, you also must not pay attention to politics either.

Certainly one of the coolest bands of the 90s and early 00s . And that's a lot to say. Flawless music and lyrics/attitude to match. Who else would use the term 'Mexica' in a song? Too good. Even Lars Ulrich said he never saw a similar energy to that of a RATM concert. 10/10
Thanks for your take. Cheers. 🍻
8 years later, I can confirm best concert I’ve been to.
@@mossy9227 same here, even he couldnt jump the same way in Quebec
The energy comes from the creator. This energy is the fire that burns. The rage against the machine.
😂
This band opened my eyes and saw the world and how it’s like crumbling both past and present
😂
Sad how relevant this still is.
Well said my friend

As a mexican teenager living in México i am truly humilliated by my government still to this day
As a 44 year old American I can say ours isn't much better. We could have bombed the railroad tracks going to the concentration camps. We could have stopped the genocide in Rwanda. We could send drone strikes to take out Central American drug lords who are just as much of a terrorist threat as Al Qaeda. But those weren't in our best interest. The biggest difference between our politicians and yours is ours are rich enough to be bought off by only a select few groups. And those groups buy off both sides.
@@SgtBeer what a sad truth we are living in
Why would you be humiliated? We re presently experiencing one or maybe the best president Mexico ever had. You are too young to make a call or a judgment like that. And for The previous ones, going back 100 years, we Mexicans, experience la mierda de presidentes that the U S imposed on us. Educate yourself before you say things that you don't know.
@@Worldfamousegg if you lived in México yo would know why I’m saying this
I know. I live in Mexico. But if you experience life 20, 30, 40 or 50 years ago, you couldn't even say anything against the government or you would dissappear. I know it's bad but it's getting better and o hope it will. But look around see what's going on in other countries then you make a judgment.
Love the drums in this song
Awesome drum sound. Snare sound is perfect

+Wolter Whyte The world is really fucked up.
actually the world is really fucked up
Yeah in the 90s they helped those of us who knew the world was f*cked up feel validated still now the news is selective about it's narrative and we don't get the full story. RATM was very socially conscious no sappy love songs from them.
Just remember as long as people like RATM exist, it's not all fucked up.
it is f'd up
RATM are one of the most influential bands ever. Subversive and powerful music that wakes people up. Respect to them and other conscious acts like Public Enemy, Immortal tech, Micheal Franti, Brother Ali, Dead Prez, Sage Francis, Saul Williams, EL-P, B Dolan, Lowkey, Allflaws
Rage is the music, Zach was the messenger
Can’t forget Jedi mind tricks and ill bill
This is for the people of the sun. Mexicans. Zack De La Rocha has Mexican roots so it hits hard considering how Mexicans are treated like animals at the border.

I remember the first time I listened to this song in 2006 it was thanks to Zack's uncle mr De la Rocha who was Latin America history teacher in Ventura CA. He used to talk about of how Zack was an activist and was in jail at that time.
