This is by far my favorite show....EVER. I originally am a French Horn Player but after seeing this show, I decided to pick up precision. Now I am in my Sophomore year, going to be a Junior next year, and I just made Tenor Section leader for my high school. Music does amazing stuff.
+brod drums It's called a "hand to hand." Bass 1 plays constant triplets. Bass 2 does the same, but starts a sixtuplet partial later, and doesn't play a downbeat.
My percussion teacher played bass 5 in this ensemble and showed our ensemble this video and made it a point mention that the cymbal player had some kind of injury to his leg and still performed. So it is very true. Shhhh.
you can see it on the performers faces that THIS was THE ONE. the run where everything just locks into place and you can tell the performers are hyped on that
It's true. If you watch videos of them rehearsing during finals week, he's not in them because they didn't want to overdo it. Also, he was using crutches during retreat.
I am currently in the Escambia HS Indoor Percussion group The Diamonds and we are actually using the underside of the floor Rhythm X used for this show, this was one of my favorite shows ever
I believe if you look up the word 'talent' in the dictionary, this video is used as the definition. I was there in person for this, and the crowd reaction was amazing! We all stood up and clapped forever! They deserved the win. Though I'm not sure how they didn't get a perfect score...
Go to their facebook page, look back to one of their posts after finals. It confirms it right there. And it was a broken foot, not leg but still, badass.
nope its 100% true. I have a friend that was in the group that year and he told me about that. If you know anybody in the ensemble you should ask them.
His leg wasn't broken, it was hurt, and there was an injury, but it wasn't so bad that it could stop him. But if most people had it they wouldn't be out there.
It wasn't a broken leg. But he did have a fracture somewhere within his foot. I was on staff at another group and we know a lot of people on staff there. They told us finals day.
Adrenaline is what keeps you going, so yeah it's not a broken leg its a foot, but either way him still being able to perform shows. Just saying, I only went Dayton and performed, you know, so I wouldn't know what's up
question: Does anybody know what head the beginning marching snare is using? im a percussion instructor for a high school in CA and our head director wants an old traditional snare sound for their parade march. can anyone help me out? id really appreciate it. thanks

+Thomas Stoliker Yeah man I love precision lol
Thomas Stoliker same lol
I had no idea that this was your origin story
This video does not do this show justice...it was so breath taking live.
I love how everyone shuts up at 1:09 because they know what's coming.
was bass 1&2 splitting 4's or triplet roll
+brod drumz Hell if I know hahah
+brod drums It's called a "hand to hand." Bass 1 plays constant triplets. Bass 2 does the same, but starts a sixtuplet partial later, and doesn't play a downbeat.
Josh Howell i
I love the fact that they did the epic fight scene with romantic music going on
My percussion teacher played bass 5 in this ensemble and showed our ensemble this video and made it a point mention that the cymbal player had some kind of injury to his leg and still performed. So it is very true. Shhhh.
That cymbal action. Whole show is just filled with constant badass flips, maneuvers and constant bad assery
Ehh.. ive got to say their cymbal line is their worst element.
So many memories from this year. Thankful to have been a part of this special season.
every snare player was like NNNOOOOO!!! at 6:13
a snare players nightmare
A strong left shot, missed :/
Jeremy Cuffy the music was originally written as a rim click so technically Tom played it right
Dylan Abner really??
you can see it on the performers faces that THIS was THE ONE. the run where everything just locks into place and you can tell the performers are hyped on that
One word describes their quad and bass line- Unbelievable
Well, its been almost 5 years now.....just now realizing my "YA BASS" @7:00 is there 0_0
TeeZee is that you?
@@chaser22081 Yes
It's true. If you watch videos of them rehearsing during finals week, he's not in them because they didn't want to overdo it. Also, he was using crutches during retreat.
One of the best performances rhythm x has performed
I can recite almost every word of this speech. And this is my first time seeing the show
I am currently in the Escambia HS Indoor Percussion group The Diamonds and we are actually using the underside of the floor Rhythm X used for this show, this was one of my favorite shows ever
those mallet tosses from the basses at the end, awesome! :D
Michael, you are a Godsend. Thank you for the upload.
On a more related note, this was the most amazing WGI show I have ever seen.
It's true. I was there watching it live. He marched with a leg brace and during the show you could see his face of pain. I couldn't believe it myself
Guys, please.. Look up the ad I just spent two minutes dying of laughter. It's called Poo Pourri. Craziest thing I've ever seen. lol
Damn, I can't believe I missed this performance.. oh well. At least I get to see it on UA-cam..
ahahaha i love how their last sample is "i'm gonna win"
and they won
haha i love that
God, I love that field drum intro.
i wanna hear the judges tapes on this xd
I believe if you look up the word 'talent' in the dictionary, this video is used as the definition.
I was there in person for this, and the crowd reaction was amazing! We all stood up and clapped forever! They deserved the win. Though I'm not sure how they didn't get a perfect score...
cause he missed the shot
1:09 I had to buy a brand new set of clothing.
Lol what did u do to it?
2014 is going to be a fucking crazy season for WGI!! Bring the show X!!
This show is so powerful!
4:53 lik dis if u cry evrtim...
5:50 - 6:32 I fucking love this part.
What about that tenor feature right after that chunk
Rhythm X is awesome just all of that was
3:35 tenor split most amazing thing ive ever heard and 1:09 tommy roams hand to hand
Ryan Linhart you're gay
HOLY DIDDLE BASSES
Wow well I was in a winter percussion that was abke to be at many of the same competitions as them and they always were amazing to me :)
Love this show
There's actually a large number of WGI performers that perform with torn/broken parts but keep playing no matter what.
Go to their facebook page, look back to one of their posts after finals. It confirms it right there. And it was a broken foot, not leg but still, badass.
does he miss his left shot at the beginning of the closer?
yes
Sadly yes :,(
Yeah😢
What does it sound like?
They won. I'm pretty sure they had a record breaking score as well.
That reminds me of when Drew Guy marched Bluecoats with a torn ligament in his foot.
Ive listened to the same 20 secs idk how many times (3:26-3:46). The music is jus so sick there and wut they play makes it better
nope its 100% true. I have a friend that was in the group that year and he told me about that. If you know anybody in the ensemble you should ask them.
They wheeled him out on a cart after the performance, saw it in the tunnels after prelims. It was pretty crazy.
What a kickass show
3:37
Bass 5's drill around 6:55.... holy crap
+Ryan Simms How did he not kill anyone?
IKR 😍😍😍
Ryan Simms its not as hard as it seems i marched fifth for four seasons now and its mostly momentum
that hand to hand bass split is inhuman....
His leg wasn't broken, it was hurt, and there was an injury, but it wasn't so bad that it could stop him. But if most people had it they wouldn't be out there.
3:50 Star wars force choke from the 2 snares visual? :D
I was there. He had some sort of injury, he was using crutches after the performance.
That bass.
Actually, if I remember correctly, they confirmed this on their Facebook or Twitter after finals.
It wasn't a broken leg. But he did have a fracture somewhere within his foot. I was on staff at another group and we know a lot of people on staff there. They told us finals day.
one of my favorites! Nice upload Conlee
Amazing!! very good men!
whoa hahaha thanks for not taking down my video! looking forward to see what you guys bring to the arena 2014! #rx14
It's not the critic that counts.
However, Caleb did in fact have a fracture in his foot for prelims and finals.
Crazy split singles
Wow, Is an ensemble allowed to be that good?
Apparently. Broken City beat them this year too.
it was a stress fracture in his ankle. happened finals week. got this from a bluecoats snare
Folding laundry to this = EPIC LAUNDRY FOLDING!!!
It's true. Although I think it was his foot that was broken, not his leg.
Oh wao!
EVERY section...damn...
Why did this show score higher than 2009?
Because of score inflation due to strong 1st and 2nd place competition.
Why did this show score higher that 2010?
Because we were WAY gayer than 2009 OR 2010.
Bradley Perry Gay af
Because we actually played with clarity? What a concept
1:04 that bass solo,
aka Bluecoats indoor
Around 45-50 they have a part where it's in the hunger games
I love how they used Muse y as
Omg dat mallet toss
Muse
this is more inspiring than inspired
Splitting hand to hands
He had a stress fracture in his foot. He wore a boot all of finals week and only performed prelims and finals.
That bass feature at 1:04............my mind is now officially fucked!
good
The guy at the end marched blue coats 2012 :D
Most of this line is bluecoats
Tritan117 He's also my Junior Varsity Percussion teacher, which means that I know him! lol he's AWESOME!!!!!
Is it Ryan on end here?
+Jacob Elfrank yep. And Man in the Arena was his senior year in high school
7:57 best moment
the visual soloist cymbal player broke his foot and marched finals
5:07 lets face it, that was the reason they won.
lol
It's an Evans Strata 1000.
Adrenaline is what keeps you going, so yeah it's not a broken leg its a foot, but either way him still being able to perform shows. Just saying, I only went Dayton and performed, you know, so I wouldn't know what's up
Lol at 7:07 "Yea bass!" in the background!
2024
i wish my Highschool line had real wood boards... :'(
allyn pierson what do u have?
Didn't center snare used to have a tattoo on his arm?
@1:09 was bass 1&2 splitting 4's or a triplet rolls
+brod drumz haha triplets
32nd note hand to hands (bass tech at my school is 4th here)
Hey Michael, do you happen to have Infinity percussions performace? from 2013?
1:08 what is that wizardry!?
I spell to make you shit yourself
They mean PIW, which has way more of a weight than scholastic
question: Does anybody know what head the beginning marching snare is using? im a percussion instructor for a high school in CA and our head director wants an old traditional snare sound for their parade march. can anyone help me out? id really appreciate it. thanks
baddass.....
what did this guy said? i mean the guy before @paul8aBABY

Remember when the guy got punched in he face at the Dayton Regional in February?
