Tywin's not just another Lannister. Tywin is THE Lannister. Tywin is (imo) one of the scariest, most powerful characters in the story. Charles Dance did a FANTASTIC job with bringing him to life.

But the show portrayed the lannisters bad. In the show it looks like the lannisters are a hatefull house full of evil people. While actually the lannisters are a good and friendly house. The most of the lannisters actually loved tyrion aswell, like his aunt and uncles and jaimy. Its just that only cercei and tywin hated him
I was in a shop in Highgate, London a few yrs ago ..as I’m leaving I hold the door for someone entering and to my surprise it was Charles dance ..I spluttered out Jesus in shock..he gave a little smile at my obvious shock
I only watched this show at first because Charles Dance was supposed to be in it. Couldn't believe how long it took for him to show up! It was worth the wait.
@@chestermulhaven6039such a legend he is one of the greatest actors of the silver screen. I was in Scotland in a greasy spoon cafe when I kept looking at this huge man thinking he looks so familiar. It turned out it was the hound himself Gregor Claghane I quietly asked for his autograph. It turned out he lived in a narrow boat nearby but I kept wondering how on earth did this huge man live on a narrow boat as they are tiny and the height of the ceilings are so low, he must have crawled around on his hands and knees to fit in lol.
Pfff was more intimidating in Alien 3 and was only in it for 45 minutes

It is not always easy to know all the relationships between the characters. For instance, the leader of the night's watch Jeor is the father of Jorah Mormont, Danserys's knight companion.
Charles Dance puts on an acting masterclass in his role as Tywin Lannister.... He's in command of almost every scene he's in.... A true master of his craft.
For context, Ned found out because all the memebrs of roberts family had dark hair. Joffrey and his siblings all have blonde hair, something all Lannisters have

These two have already seen it all (these reactions are old patreon exclusive reactions) but assuming people don't mind a show being spoiled bc they haven't watched it fast enough for someone else's tastes is ridiculous. Not knowing what's gonna happen is the fun of watching a show for the first time
It also shows that Tywin is willing to get his hands dirty.
As a fan of both the show and the books, I enjoy watching you put the pieces together. It really is a challenge to figure out who is whom, and who did what, where, when, and why. The story is like a giant jigsaw with half of the pieces turned over.
Be prepared.
Tywin Lannister is the greatest character in this show. It took me a while to appreciate him but he's exactly what I'd imagine a powerful feudal lord would be like. He's not cartoonishly good or evil, he makes pragmatic choices to further the influence of his dynasty. He's a warrior, a lord and a Machiavellian schemer. It's not often you see well written morally grey characters like him in fiction.
He's perfectly cast as well. He looks almost exactly like how Martin described him and he acts just like it too.
@@aaronburdon221 I don't think he looks much like the book description. He doesn't have a shaved head or bushy golden side whiskers. He isn't in his fifties.

I know there’s a ton of people to re,ember, but Bran and Bronn are two entirely different characters. Bran like Raisin Bran is the paralyzed Stark boy. Bronn is Tyrion’s new BFF who saved his life.

Tyrion knew how to find his fathers camp because back then regular people would follow army camps around to sell things. Particularly prostitutes would follow the armies.

Lady Stark's name is Cat-lyn. That is how everyone in the show that says her name pronounces it. BRAN (short for Brandon) is the crippled boy). The one with Tyrion that won the TBC is Bronn. And the boy that Arya killed was a stable boy I believe.😊😊😊
In the previous episode, Ned called for The Mountain to be brought to justice, not Tyrion.
He also charges Ser Berick Dondarrion to do it, a name that appears later in the show

We start to understand and empathize with the three Lannister siblings a lot more as soon as we meet the Lord Tywin Lannister.
Here is where the story begins. Pay attention too everything and everybody and everything said. Names, Houses (House Sigils), Partnerships and Politics.
Just fyi: The Lannisters are the wealthiest noble family in the Seven Kingdoms because their ancestral home, "Casterly Rock", sits on top of a high cliff, overlooking the sea, and at the base of the cliff there's a cave which is the entrance to their gold mine - the only such mine in Westeros. Their unofficial family motto is "A Lannister always pays his debts" because they're the only family in Westeros that can *always* do so. It's unclear if any other family realizes that the mine exists, or if they just think the Lannisters have enough holdings to just be THAT incredibly wealthy, but Tywin definitely controls the flow of gold to the rest of the Seven Kingdoms.
They mentioned that Syrio, the "Dancing Master" that taught Arya how to fight is a "Bravosi", which means he's from Bravos, one of the city states on the Eastern continent. Bravos also has a very wealthy bank, which is the second largest available source of funds to the crown, after borrowing from Tywin. As the comptroller of the treasury, Lord Baelish has borrowed from both to keep the Kingdoms running. As Lord Baelish told Ned a couple of episodes ago, the crown owes Tywin nearly 3 million gold pieces. That's how Tywin likes it, he wanted Robert indebted to him. But now that Robert is dead and Joffrey is on the throne, will Tywin's grandson honor that debt? Or write it off, as it's a debt owed only to his own House? Hmmm..... ;)
Robert had two brothers, both younger than he - Stannis, and the youngest, Renly. Renly sits on the Small Council; Stannis is the Lord of his own holding (which would have been Robert''s, had Robert not rebelled and become king, instead). When Ned wrote "my rightful heir" instead of "my son, Joffrey," when supposedly transcribing Robert's last wishes with regard to the succession to the throne, Ned knew that, as y'all figured out, Joffrey, and Cersei's other 2 children, were not Robert's, but Jaime's, kids. As they're not Robert's children born in wedlock, they are not legal, rightful, heirs to the throne; neither are any of Robert's bastards, even if they are known to BE his bastards, because Robert did not legitimize them by legally acknowledging them, knowing that Cersei would never permit it. Robert's "rightful heir" is therefore the next Baratheon brother in line, Stannis, which is why Ned wrote to Stannis - and that letter went out before Lord Baelish betrayed Ned. We'll see if it arrives and has any affect.... ;)
In this world, women can rule, if they are the next in line - or if they can manage to take power somehow. Danerys (Khaleesi) is, therefore, a competing legal heir to the throne as the daughter of the king BEFORE Robert; that's why Robert wanted her and her baby killed, because he wanted his own children to have a clear right to rule after him (believing Cersei's children to be his own, that is). Jorah was sent a pardon because the Small Council believed that Dany would be killed by the wine merchant, but Jorah put a stop to the poisoning because as soon as he saw the pardon, he realized what they meant to do. No one on the Eastern continent knows, as yet, that Robert has died. If Dany wants the throne, she will have to take it. Viserys, her brother, sold her to Drogo to buy Drogo's men as his army to take it back, but we saw what happened to him. Drogo never intended to cross the sea between the continents for Viserys; will he do so for Dany? ;)

Reel talk! The emotions you feel for Cersei is a credit to Leena Heady. She mastered that role!It's a shame she did not receive an Emmy for her performance alone. I read they hired linguists to create the languages for this show and the actors had to learn a make believe foreign language. When you get to the moments of finding out the deceptions it just crazier! For some reason now that they have seen Forest Gump, whenever I see Asia put her hands to cover her eyes up I say to myself "please God, make a bird, so I can fly, far, far, away from here."
Glad you guys are getting into this. Charles Dance does an incredible job as Tywin Lannister, and some of the scenes you get later in the show between him and his son Tyrion (The Imp) are absolute masterclasses in acting and script writing.
8:14 - I think scene matches this part of the book, especially her wishful look:
"If I were not the blood of the dragon, she thought wistfully, this could be my home. She
was Khaleesi, she had a strong man and a swift horse, handmaids to serve her, warriors
to keep her safe, an honored place in the Dosh Khaleen awaiting her when she grew
old . . . and in her womb grew a son who would one day bestride the world. That should
be enough for any woman . . . but not for the dragon."

I love how you guys are now really getting into it. Again.. even for fantasy fans it takes many episodes to totally figure out whats going on. There are sooooo many very subtle hints. And it gets deeper every episode.. because every house in the kingdom is playing the game of thrones. Ive read the series 4 times and watched the hbo series 5 times.. so if yall have any questions.. theres a good chance i can help you with an answer.
Tywin is Tyrion (short guy) , Jamie, and Cerses dad. He has lots of money cause he run the gold mines. He is Warden of the west (if I remember). He got an army and $$ but still got to follow the king. Cersei (queen) hates Tyrion (short guy) because there mom died giving birth to him.
Side note: Jamie is called the king slayer because he killed the last king. He was the kings guard so killing him is looked at as dishonorable, that’s why Ned & the King is always crapping on him.
Ned is the father of John (the dude at the wall), bran (the boy who got pushed out the window) Rob (the one in charge now) Sansa (the red head who likes them prince) and Arya (the little girl who fights). Theon (the guy who shot the guy in the back with the arrow and saved Bran) is a kid that Ned Starks took from an army the defeated. He raised him like his son but he is not his blood son.
The wall is a giant wall that protects the lands from out side forces. The men at the wall are all former criminals or kids who families didn’t want them. You have some guys who volunteer but mainly criminals and screw ups.
Katlin (Ned’s wife) her sister is the crazy one breast feeding. Her husband was the old “hand of the king” before Ned. He died that’s why the king came to get Ned (to be his replacement). The sister thinks the Lannisters has something to do with his death that’s why she was warning her sis.
It’s a great show guys. Keep watching. These folks got more drama than a project family!!!!😂😂

Ser Barristan wasn't exaggerating when he said he could cut through them like a cake. He's widely regarded as the best swordsman in Westeros. His only equal was Ser Arthur Dayne, who was killed in a fight with Ned and Howland Reed (Meera and Jojen's father), who were attempting to rescue Ned's sister, Lyanna. Unfortunately, Lyanna died shortly after Ned found her.
It's amazing how much the books are different from the series

Really enjoying watching you go through this series. At least the first several seasons anyway. I've never had a series make me so partial to certain characters or hate a character so much. Steel yourselves as it's going to be a bumpy ride.

I first watched GOT a couple of years ago. I got to the beginning of season 2 and realized I had no idea what was going on. So I restarted from the beginning and took notes and a lot of it made way more sense lol
And we're back like we never left! You guys are doing good with the uploads, very quick! I love it. Can't wait for the season finale 😊

Asia an BJ, Ned’s son out of wedlock that you were thinking about is Jon Snow. Ned Stark has six kids. Jon Snow, Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran (The son who can’t walk) and Rickon. Even though Ned is Lord of Winterfell his wife Catelyn is not a Queen. Her title is Lady of Winterfell.
The Dothraki are always on the warpath, they just don't usually cross the sea over to Westeros.
This is a late warning, but I warn you both that your hearts will be ripped out of your chests, and just when you get your heart put back in, it'll rip it out again before you know it lol. This show will break your heart repeatedly, but by the end you'll appreciate every moment...enjoy! 😂😂😂
Also, I have to to repeat, pay attention to the Hound, Sandor Cleghane. Amazing character arc and the best character on the show!!!

I don't know if you can do anything about it, but your voices are a bit too low in the GoT clips on UA-cam... I have to turn up the volume up pretty high and it makes the ads pop off a bit too loud... If you could up the volume on you two a little bit it would be more balanced here and we want to hear you two! Just an observation on this...

The first 4 seasons of this show are absolutely masterful. Amazing writing, spectacular performances. Starts to drop off after that. But I finally watched this show just last year and understood what the hype was about.

I missed the GoT train too. I just watched it last year and binged watched all 8 seasons in about two weeks...lol. But i also worked a rotating shift job when i was off for 3 or 4 days....I was hooked.😁

These are an absolute delight. I'm one of those who feels the need to explain things, so it's great to put all that aside in the knowledge that you've finished the whole thing, and just let you work it out. Watching Asia realise the truth about Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella was an epic moment.
I have to bite my lip when you're still mixing up 'Tyrion' and 'Tywin' and pronouncing 'Bran' as 'Bronn' (and forgetting Jon's name!). But I just go into the lotus position, say a few Om mani padme hums and I'm calm again.
In a future comment I shall boast and tell you how many of these actors I've seen in person in theatre. But we haven't met everyone yet . . .
I’m just starting to watch your GOT reactions. And they are really fun reactions to watch. I am a few weeks behind with this comment, so while I would like to add a lot in response to comments you made or questions you brought up, I will keep this brief. I just want to say that looking through other peoples comments, I was amused to see so many people telling you one character or another are the very best characters of the series. There are many, many excellent characters in the series, so I don’t think anyone is the best. It just depends on your personal preferences for character storylines. And just one detail to add, the boy that Arya killed was a stable boy. So there won’t be any powerful family coming after her for that death. Sadly, he was just a poor servant who thought that he could get a reward from the Queen by turning Arya over to her.
The Lannisters are by far the best family.
