Been watching these videos and I'm super inspired. It's rare to see an Asian American go through special forces or at least I have not seen many let alone from the Bay area. For me I'm currently a college student and then applying for officer training school in the Air Force and hopefully will purse a career in Special Tactics. This is all inspiring,

I love Asian-American Warriors. They are so humble and meek and soft-spoken and kind. But they can also kill anyone with their left pinky.

Very few interviews of the Special Forces Officers exist compared to that of the enlisted men. Good to see how he chose to pivot after tasting the Green Beret life from the officer side.
But the time given for officers to serve on team is still far to short compared to the amount of time and training they’ve sacrificed to get there in the first place, but I guess everybody has their role to play in the ODA setup.
Cool content, More perspectives from officers !

Lanre Oladejo that all started with SF becoming a branch in late 1980s. Officers from all branches don’t have the ample amount of time to develop. It’s rushed today. Those prior to it being a group were better developed having the opportunity to command as CPTs in their branch. My .02 as an prior enlisted NCO IN officer with ABN /75th RR / Stryker experience.

Man In The Arena agreed. I was surprised of the % shortage. Got wind of this across the way last year. I got screwed in 2005 in OEF VI when I submitted a packet. They took those the YRG prior to me. Earned my scroll and keeping it moving.

Man In The Arena thanks brother. The struggle is real. Definitely blame the higher leadership for not seeing the forest from the trees. Much respect to you. I’m USAR but still maintain my Tan beret 🍻🙂 in the larger community. Stay safe bro. Respect. RLTW! / DOL!

Great interview - such a relatable and impressive veteran. Excellent advice given which all members of society can benefit from. I'll be sharing this with my children.

Hello 1LT, I hope your doing well. I have been watching your videos for a long time. I admire you very much and I love to become a part of West Point. So, my question is very depending on the route I am trying to take to get in. So I’ll be straight forward and say I graduated earlier from high school with gpa of 3.75 in 2018. I have been in college since than and will be graduating winter 2021. I am also part of national guard since 2019. I’ll be honest and say that my sat from high school was 990, however my college gpa is very high expecting 3.90 when I graduate. My physic is good and working hard to become better. Do you think I have any chances of getting to west point. If not, what do you recommend me doing? Thank you in advance.

You can branch as straight out of school, you get a basic branch and when you are 1LT Promotable you can try out for SF. Aviation would be another basic branch you could choose. Or you could be a warrant officer.
