Just goes to show you that the basics are always going to be the best because their basically perfect. Because the basics are simply universal they work with EVERYTHING! God I love this show. First season of anything Zoids related and I was hooked... until Fuzors. That pretty much nuked my interest. Still need to check out the other official seasons though.

It's a shame not even one Zoids battle is included in watchmojo's "Top 10 Mecha Battles in Anime History" basically they're all just Gundams.. Came here after the dissatisfaction.

Im a chaotic century boy but god damn this fight is the best choregraphed zoid battle ive seen. The raw animalistic fighting along with the classic animation style was fantastic. Fuzors and genesis just dont hold a candle to it.
That scene where liger had him by the throat and Vegas zoid clawing at his leg trying desperately to gain leverage while at the same time liger by sheer will refusing to give in is still one of the most powerful moments captured in all of anime imo. And that music playing the whole time multiplied the intensity.
I watched when Ultrasaurus fired out a Blade Liger to stop the Deathsaurer. I watched when Liger Zero defeated Berserk Fury on top of that same Ultrasaurus centuries later. I miss Zoids.
It's unfortunate this didn't get a follow-up season. Would've liked to see them compete in class S and the team-ups that were hinted at during the tournament.
Of course the Liger Zero won in its base armor. This was its 4th time fighting the Berserk Fury. It had learned how the Fury fought. Where as the Liger Zero was in a different armor configuration every time. Each one with a different fighting style. The Fury had to re learn each time it fought. Whereas the Liger Zero had plenty of time to learn exactly how to beat the Fury.
What I love the most about this fight is the whole season basically set it up perfectly. As a screenwriter consultant, this series was one of the first, when I was young, to teach the power of "build up". The entire series we're left to believe that while the Liger Zero is special, the other armors are superior, even with some fights just skipping the basic armor. The Blitz is almost unstoppable. That is until the Berserk Fury shows up. The Berserk Fury only has 4 episodes in the ENTIRE season but with it's introduction against Jack Sisco's team and the Jaeger Liger and dominate with little effort with no armor taught us that this Zoid is no slouch, then we see it with it's armor upgrades- completely invincible, how can we beat this. It all leads to this moment where the smoke is billowing and Fury is roaring in triumph. How can we defeat this? Then the Liger flies out of the smoke and strike laser claws the second it hits the ground (that sfx loud and proud) as a golden BASIC Liger Zero flies at us. It just gives you chills, then the Berserk Fury turns around and Liger just tackles him. We realize the strongest armor is the Basic, the very armor we have felt was inferior the entire series just dominates Berserk Fury. It's bloody FANTASTIC!!!
I love what your saying but I wouldn't say that the basic liger armor is the strongest it's more that the liger and bit are used to righting the fury while the fury and Vega had never seen or fought that basic liger. Remember ultimate X's learn as they fight so the liger knew how to adapt to the fury while the fury didn't know how to adapt to a zoid it thought it had never seen before
The part where the Liger Zero jumps out of the smoke and instantly strikes the Fury in the face is still one of my favorite Anime moments even after 15 years.
The best part is when the berserk fury shoots its charged particle cannon at the Liger Zero and in a flash the Furys canon gets shot in the sky and then the screen shows the beam in the sky following down and u see the Liger Zero holding the Furys neck up . The song that plays was epic and one of the greatest fight scenes of my childhood so glad to have seen all the episodes on TV when I was growing up
NightWindX7 I think he means in a Melee match the zero armor is probably the best bet. The panzer is too heavy ( not in the mangas tho which i found cool) jaeger has huge heavy boosters on his back. Schneider (I think) is to blade focused and needs to run around the enemy to be effective and could get over powered by the fury
I collected alot of their plastic moving model figures when i was a kid, but I lost them over the years. Somehow, I found a pro detailed Shadow Fox 5 years ago, built it, and is now proudly in my room. 😁
What really stuck out to me about the ending of New Century was that the Beserk Fury and it's background was largely unknown, and that it's involvement in the story was rather abrupt. It's an ending that wasn't really alluded to, just a "we need to end the series now" So all this lore was dumped on us about special zoids and pilots with absolutely no follow up But what stuck out to me as a kid, watching this, was that the seriousness of the battle - something not really as present in previous fights in the series - really harkened back to Chaotic Century in a big way. It's like there were finally some high stakes to the battle that wasn't just money and some cuts and bruises. Bit and Liger's soul was on the line, and they lived up to their bond when they needed to most.
Yeah, don't get me wrong the fight itself is one of the greatest battles in Zoids period. The problem is mainly the plot itself. The Berserk Fury, Vega and the Organoid System were plot devices thrown in at the end because the writers clearly hadn't thought it out enough. Who was Vega? Who was Sarah? How did they know about the Berserk Fury? How was Vega able to use it so easily and how did he know the Berserk Fury was in that ancient vault it was sealed in? How was Vega an undefeated king before he even obtained the Berserk Fury? Not only that but we never really got a true aftermath for the Blitz Team either. What does it mean to be in Class S? Why is it so important asides from just bragging rights? I really wish we knew, especially in regards to what perks a team gets for achieving this prestigious rank.. I will say though it was awesome that the finish line of the Royal Cup was the Ultrasaurus wreckage. The very same Ultrasaurus that was present at the end of GF/CC which was instrumental in the battle against the Death Stinger and Death Saurer. I still love this fight. Especially the fact that the Berserk Fury and Liger Zero are metaphorically kings (i.e. T-Rex=King of the dinosaurs, Liger/Lion=King of the jungle). And the fact that the Berserk Fury is this ancient zoid going against a more modern version of the Liger series. Both zoids are evolutions on previous generations of zoids finally going at it one last time. The Fury being a descendant of the Death Saurer and the Liger Zero is a descendant of the Shield Liger/Blade Liger. The Berserk Fury is also my favourite zoid from the entire series. But yeah, Zoids NCZ left a lot of questions in the end. I much prefer what the manga did in that Alteil was the pilot of the Berserk Fury and they fought Bit and Liger Zero instead.

The Battle Story the Organoid System does exist however, it's not used for the Liger Zero and Berserk Fury. That system is what is used to evolve the Shield Liger into the Blade Liger and gave them the ability to make the Rev Raptor and Gun Sniper. I think there are a few more Organoid based Zoids however it was far too expensive to manufacture and build so they went with a new method. Wild Zoid Data meaning they went back to ground zero in zoid development and started fresh and what popped up was Liger Zero and Berserk Fury. That's why they are more feral in some aspects as shown in how they fight.

The idea that after a season of fussing around with armor and power ups, they're left with no choice but to just go with the default armor and as a result the final battle is two stripped down Zoids in an all out brawl on the ground as they both learn and get stronger from eachother. It was just an incredibly satisfying fight, I wish there had been more "brawl" fights like that in the series.

Liger has an organoid system like Van's did and Bit is worthy to pilot one...Plus..... I just checked and the organoid that Van used (Zeke) strongly resembles Liger Zero. Serious coincidence if not intentional. White/Grey color scheme AND red eyes.....Zeke might have merged with a new Liger sometime in the past after all the wars and remained dormant until Bit came along.
@@trueindividual1417 That's the interesting thing. IIRC, in the original manga, Zeke fuzed with and evolved Caesar (the Blade liger) once more, bonding permanently to it. Caesar the King was a Liger Zero. That "Black Box" was Zeke... and Shadow. (The Genobreaker evolved into the Berserk Fury.)
I wonder tho if they remastered the Clip with New Graphics would it look even more epic? better details and all that and better battle damage details. I really do think it would look amazing. But Nothing beats the Original i missed Zoids i used to watch it when i was a kid. i remember being on the edge of my seat watching LZ and Bit fight BF and Vega for the Royal Cup. best fight scene.
Guess the Doc wasn't exaggerating about the power of the Hover Cargo's shield. It really could withstand a Death Saurer charged particle beam, The fury may not be a Death Saurer but it was powerful as hell.
Am I the only one who thinks the combat motivation is so high because the fury is vega's genobreaker permanently fused with shadow and liger is van's blade liger permanently fused with zeke and they are settling a 1000+ plus year score?

Liger has an organoid system like Van's did and Bit is worthy to pilot one...Plus..... I just checked and the organoid that Van used (Zeke) strongly resembles Liger Zero. Serious coincidence if not intentional. White/Grey color scheme AND red eyes.....Zeke might have merged with a new Liger sometime in the past after all the wars and remained dormant until Bit came along.
@@trueindividual1417 That's the interesting thing. IIRC, in the original manga, Zeke fuzed with and evolved Caesar (the Blade liger) once more, bonding permanently to it. Caesar the King was a Liger Zero. That "Black Box" was Zeke... and Shadow. (The Genobreaker evolved into the Berserk Fury.)
I wonder tho if they remastered the Clip with New Graphics would it look even more epic? better details and all that and better battle damage details. I really do think it would look amazing.
But Nothing beats the Original i missed Zoids i used to watch it when i was a kid. i remember being on the edge of my seat watching LZ and Bit fight BF and Vega for the Royal Cup. best fight scene.
