  • Drill holes in thick metal, steel or stainless steel, much faster with these Champion Cutting Tools Hole Cutters. We make quick work of drilling 1"+ holes in 3/8" thick steel. With the 3/8" shank, a typical cordless drill works just fine.

    if you drill a 1/8 hole in your desired size (cut ring) this greatly decrease cut time. you can also fill grease in that whole.
    for example, if your cutting a one inch hole you’ll start with two holes, one centre too locate your cutter and the other half inch out, in the path of the cut

      You can't go wrong with that setup. However, the size can get in the way sometimes. Thanks for watching.

      Glad we could help. I'll paste a link below for drill bits. These should work great for drilling into brass. These are good quality bits, but I'm not sure how much you're wanting to spend. Thanks for watching.

    I wonder if they make Klein hole saw bits? look pretty close

    • @garymiller652
      @garymiller652 3 роки тому +2

      I actually have a Klein set lol looks the exact same as these. Another good hole saw bit besides the Milwaukee set is a set called spyder bits. They can drill through anything! Even concrete!!

      They may be the same, but I'm not sure. Thanks for watching.

    A local electrical supply house has one of those bit kits on their shelf and I was wondering how well they worked.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 роки тому

      They work really well. If your just drilling knockouts and holes in boxes and sheetmetal, they work really well. Thanks for watching.

    I try using one of these but the pilot bit keeps snapping and the teeth keep breaking off

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Рік тому

      You're actually using the Holemaker Technology brand bits and they are breaking?

    • @nicoelpoeta7
      @nicoelpoeta7 Рік тому +1

      Not that brand. I tried Tolsen Tools and Total Tools. Both had the same reaction. They would cut through the beams fine but after 1 or 2 cuts, the pilot bit would snap or the teeth start falling off. Could it be an issue with keeping the drill straight? I am using a hand drill

  • @andyb4071
    @andyb4071 4 місяці тому

    That drill needed to be on the lowest speed for sure...

    Better watch out not if but when one of them teeth brake it'll get ugly in a hurry ... speaking out of experience.
    Them are not bad but not the end all be all

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 роки тому +3

      You are correct, they still need to used appropriately. Carbide teeth are attached in a heat process, so they are not part of the base metal. They can come flying off. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    "you'd want a bigger 1/2 inch drill" yeah I'd say even if you go with a cheap 1/2 inch drill you'd be invited to a first row seat of a smoke show if it starts getting really hot let it rest for like 20 minutes
