Great video thanks for posting. I also use hammermill paint but I like spraying - unless u like brushwork?? You could find an HVLP paint gun easily and they are affordable. The paint finish doesn't represent your hard work and skills - show it off! Sandblasting (after you replaced all seals and bearings - I may have done that part while old parts we're still in. Then just clean off with acetone before prepping for primer. When u removed the electrical box, there are holes into the motor, yes? It seems as though debris may have found its way into the armature. Lots of ”positive” good comments on here, critical but in a good way! Keep up the good work. Great video quality, the length was decent, someone mentioned the sandblasting - that was ”harsh-sounding” maybe silence or a tune? Looking forward to watching more! The steel-toed sandals and beach shorts are classic until you drop that big gear! Just saying 😁👍! Stay safe to you and all other viewers!!
I'm 49 years old I have been in my craft for 30 years.over here in the US it's a pretty rare day that I meet someone that I'm even remotely envious of their craft. But this person appears to be incredibly well-rounded looks like he knows some things about electric motors you know some things about pumps you know some things about shaft alignments gears, appears to be a bit of a knowledgeable Machinist as well how to weld he knows how to fabricate .this is a well-rounded individual right here the video is pretty good but I just want to give this guy a thumbs up.
I like to imagine old tools and machines are super happy to be restored and put back to good use instead of just being tossed away or abandoned forever. Makes me go aww.
This is what i am daily doing as a electro mechanical engineer you are one of a just few restorers on youtube that doing this actually right, many on youtube are just botcher and just clean the stuff so it looks good.
It didn't occur to me, until you started taking the seals out of the new bearings and removing the grease. The bearings are in a sealed case and in an oil bath! Genius.

People just rarely do this anymore and it's almost a lost art. They replace the entire unit and rip-off the customer. I always appreciate people like this who bring worn out machinery back to life.
I'm not sure if sandblasting a completely assembled motor is wise. When I was rewinding motors, I would clean or sand blast the exterior of the stator with the rotor and end bells removed and blocking the ends of the stator. Sand blast dust has a way of creeping into the bearings which tend shorten their life span.
do kompletu brakowało żebyś jeszcze uzwojenia przewijał ;D... jeśli było sprawne i bez wycieków to zbędna robota... ps mam nadzieje że po piaskowaniu łożyska wymieniono w silniku?
Excellent video, really good reference information. So when one of my sons asks about reconditioning a motor I have this link bookmRked and send them to this video. Really nice “best practices”, to bad more of the guys rebuilding motors for resell don’t watch this video ! Thanks for taking the time to document.
You replaced the hardware because they lose their properties. You proved that with the snap ring! :-) I don't think that is why they call them "snap" rings. :-0 Good call. That looks so awesome with that blue paint. You're Hired!! Just Subbed.
I ask the same question. Is this, maybe, the channel where he rebuilds stuff for his projects on the other channel and he keeps them separate? That would make sense. One build channel; one Rebuild/Restore channel. And sometimes one compliments the other.
A.that motor didn't put up near enough of a fight! B.since I'll never get to watch my Father or Grandfather break anything mechanical down again, it's nice to watch someone who knows what they're doing..
Well done BUT i hate to service NORD with the locking bearing on the rear and big pinion gear you cannot remove the motor winding without a complete tear-down Unlike Eurodrive with a locking front which allows winding and rear bearing service
Awesome, up until the point if your prep for the cabinet, at that point you got a little lax. machined surfaces that are not to be blasted/painted, 'tape them'. Otherwise really great job. Cheers

Restoration is really a blanket term. It means something different to everyone. Just because it is mechanically sound and is working well does not mean it is not a restoration.
I would have blasted it before i put new seals and bearings in it. So take it apart see if it got inside. Or show this vid to your customer and tell him he should buy the extended warranty.

Very nice all the best
Did you not restored a old new stock motoreductor?
It did not have a entri hole for the power
That is whi it was brand new on the inside.
No wan puts the hole plugs back . If you search in scrap yard every time the old power cabel is cuted
It seems a bit wasteful to be replacing parts that need not be replaced.

The parts do not look too bad. It is good to see someone using a knife and not just the blade.

It all looked like new. This is incredible, just an artist to do it. I can't possibly think of doing it. I don't have that talent.

Very good restoration 👍
Jak powiedział tak zrobił trzymam kciuki. P.s o widzę że prasa się pojawiła😉💪i kabina do piaskowania 😁👏👊
Better than new, good Job.

omg have you really sand blasted the motor with the bearings installed
Sheila Walker yeah but the bearings die when they have sand inside

all parts look perfect, the oil looks new, what was all that for?
I had the same question at the 5 minute mark. Was it not working or noisy?

Nice job 👍 .
Is that a Glyptal coating on the inside? If so, it's the only time I've seen it outside of Jafro's channel.
Good job! Keep going!
The noise wile sand blasting the high pitched squealing really wasn’t necessary for those listening with headphones, it gave me a head ache 😖

Amazing video! Such a sharp, tidy work too!
Damn , look at all that work . Um the windings . Did they arck ? What is amotor in that kind of shape doing on his bench ?
Hi bro 👋👋👋very good restoration 3 phase helical gear motor 👍👍👍
Excellent job and great paint work... 10/10
Interesting!! I can't believe I watched entire video without skipping.
New wave on youtube - fully functional device restoration. What next? Brand new restoration?
Superb restoration.
Brilliant video
inside didnt look like it needed to be replaced but great video to learn from
Congratulations from Brasil !
Very cool the restauration motor. Vidéo of quality. Tank you very much.
I work as a gearbox assembler, it hurts to look at this work.
A great fan of your channel.
Is this a 3 phase motor? What is the switch control you use at the end to start the motor?
Better than new I think...

Can I ask why you took the bearing caps off to expose the bearings to then re-grease them?
Original bearings are open becouse the gear oil grease them.

Bel lavoro .
This looks awesome but I have one question. Why did you open the bearing seals and remove the grease inside?
The bearings do not need grease because of the oil bath in the transmission box. The oil will lubricate the bearings.
@@Frank-Thoresen Yeah I saw that but still...couldnt he just keep the bearing grease? Wouldnt it mix in the oil?
He bought wrong type.
Dude ,i really really like your working. You are so hard working.awesome!!!

Very nice! What sandblast unit do you have?
You should look into the heath effects of skin contact with gasoline. Too easy to put on some cheap gloves to not wear them.
skąd wiedziałeś że akurat w tej pozycji napełnia się przekładnie olejem?
The scissor needs a restoration too :D
Te luciste con ese trabajo me puede dar algunos tips
Nicely done, few things I would have done differently. But very nice work it came out good.
Śnieżka? Fłt? Polska! :)
New meaning of restoration is: Disassembly working geared motor, which helical gears looks new, motor looks new. Then clean up and paint it. 🤣🤣
Looking in a good condition but not looking new.
Yup. @0:37 if the oil looks like that, put the plug back in and dont contaminate a pristine gearbox.
And bearings he binned are probably better. At least they were right ones.
Restoration is really a blanket term. It means something different to everyone. Just because it is mechanically sound and is working well does not mean it is not a restoration.
@@Super4017 So were the ones he replaced them with! I don't think he installed a different size, do you?
that special material he talks about , over here we call it gasket paper.

En donde consigue uno un motor como ese esta muy onteresante
Dont center the gear puller on the shaft center ,
it gives us machinists a hard time recentering the shaft on the lathe !!!

Parabéns pelo vídeo, obrigado por compartilhar seus conhecimentos.
You have a problem with the shaft seal at the input gear, wrong face. Oil will leak from the gearbox via stato of motor very soon, let check.
